December 28, 200520 yr #1 HiI just went by the local ford dealer and asked about the boost guage of a fairmont to fit in my xr6t and he told me he has a typhoon set that a customer ordered and never picked it up. He said that I can have the whole lot including the harness for $500. Now the question is that this gauges are electric and not sure if they will plug in anywhere on the existing harness or do I have to get extra sensors fitted? The gauges are oil pressure and boost. Any answer will be appreciated and also do you think $500 is a reasonable price for it.
December 28, 200520 yr #2 There isn't a boost gauge in a fairmont.I think you need a sender unit or two for the FPV gauges to work.Does that include the gauge pod in that $500?
December 28, 200520 yr #3 hey mate, your better off just getting the fpv pod and buying some aftermarket gauges. The typhoon gauges are sh*te... I was quoted $250 bucks minus the gauges for the pod. Theres plenty of recent threads discussing different gauges etc. Most of the electric boost gauges cost and arm and a leg, better to go mechanical for boost and electric for oil press/temp. I dont believe there is any existing wiring for the standard fpv gauges in the T. unless u got a clock.CheersKaine

The only drawback is that they are electric gauges. I will have a look if the harness for the clock is there as my T came with the premium sound system and already has the footwell lights and the lights for the power window switches.
December 28, 200520 yr #5 The harness for the clock will only provide power, you still need to recieve the signal to make the gauges work from somewhere.I heard a guy say that he had brought everything to put the FPV Typhoon gauges in his XR6T and it cost him $1500. So if you get everything needed to make them work then $500 is damn cheap!

The wiring harness that's supplied with the gauges is pretty long, about 1.5 meters. Thanks for the feedback, I will have to ask to see how much are the sensors required for it, but I thought 500 was cheap for 2 gauges and the complete pod.
December 28, 200520 yr #7 Ive got the Typhoon setup in my XR6T and it cost nowhere near $1500 to get it going. $550 for the pod and gauges to fit, not the crappy ford ones, and $80 to install. Easy, works a treat and looks 100 times better than the SS inductions one I had.Boost is mech.

The standard cooler doesn't have this sensor boss.Trust me, fit aftermarket gauges. Much easier, and much cheaper.
December 28, 200520 yr #9 Author Thanks for the input, looks like aftermarket gauges for me then.Alex
