Non Performance Edit Mods

I posted a similar thread last year before the Edit was released about getting "non performance" mods done to the ECU by Edit.

I hear a lot about all the things that Edit can do, but it does not seem that any of the items are non performance related.

From my understanding the Edit can make changes to most ECU related functions. With our cars the ECU controlls everything from the audio/lights/air conditining and all the button assignments.

What I would like to know, is it possible to:

Automaticlly lock the door of the car once the car starts moving (like the USA cars do) ?

Change the buttons on the steering wheel to change the gears in an BF ZF 6 speed gearbox ?

Now I would expect that it could be done, but I want to know CAN it be done ?

I think that CAPA could capture a nice niche market by changing some of the standard features of the ECU to customise them for the owner as well as the performance benifits, you could have real practical advantages.

Wow, great question Zap, I'd be interested to know too. Good to see someone thinking outside the square when there is such a huge focus on performance here!

I am suprised by the lack of response here from people wanting their buttons to do different things.

You could rearrange anything that is controlled by the ECU to make life easier.

If we have access to the ECU, why not find out ALL that can be done.

give it a little time... as soon as few people actually get their butts ino the BF, this thread will get to be interesting reading

Would anyone replace the steering wheel volume buttons +/- with gearshift +/- ?

I do not use the steering volume buttons, but I would like the semi auto on the wheel.

It can be done, it just needs to be documented.

I tried to ask the QUESTION 11 months ago, but I never got a reply, I figured it was because it was still too new, but its been over 12 months and what new non performance edit mods do we know

ST has told me the codes are there, but they have not messed with them.....Give me the SCT tools and I will do it for you

ahaa.... I could see it a pain in the backside if your turning the steering wheel while turning though.

I may be wrong but I beleive most of what you are talking about is controlled by the bcm [body control module] and not the ecu so it is a different part of the system so the edit will not interact with this computor so it is not possible with edit but maybe someone could come up with a unit to do this.

And when they do I'll be able to fix the bugs in the factory alarm, like not being able to remove the battery without it going off....

You wont do it with the SCT tools you know...

All of what you are talking about is controlled by the BCM (Body Control) as Goldie pointed out and has nothing to to with the PCM (Powetrain Control). Two totally separate pieces of hardware unfortunately
