No problems. Theres some real interesting things in there too....like the independent cam control for turbo cars, it exists all right in the form of a separate exhaust camshaft retard map.....which is full of '0's from the factory. In other words they have it...and dont use it. Plenty of gains for the smart tuners there.50rwkw out of a BF 'T' with a tune? No probs!

All in the computer map settings. Edited 18/10/05 07:33 AM by mattyc

The normally aspirated cars are a different story with the exhaust cam being retarded further than the inlet at high rpm.

Street Tuner Member 727 Member For: 23y 9m 8d Posted 18/10/05 09:13 AM Posted 18/10/05 09:13 AM (edited) BF engine tuning software development is finished. The transmission calibration is a whole different kettle of fish due to the ZF six speed being non-similar to anything in the US. I would expect that by January we will have total control of the six speed functions. As it is stall converters and the like are already good to go.And yes, your BA Flash Tuner will work on your BF! That's easy, stick in a tune and away u go.. But what F6 and Zap are saying is if there is a target AFR or result ( voltage ) from the combined O2 sensors or whatever that is aimed for by the pcm, can this be manipulated by edit? If it's in a different part of the pcm, will the flash tuner be able to access it??
Street Tuner Member 727 Member For: 23y 9m 8d Posted 18/10/05 09:41 AM Posted 18/10/05 09:41 AM Yes its there, and yes we can manipulate the entire code segment of the computer

Guest Guests Posted 18/10/05 10:07 AM Posted 18/10/05 10:07 AM good to hear tuner I was told the cams were left 0's due to little or no power gains and higher emitions but it remains to be seen doesn't it.cam overlap can be fun!!!!
philldub Member 81 Member For: 22y 16d Posted 18/10/05 11:17 AM Posted 18/10/05 11:17 AM Retarding the exhaust cam on a N/A engine could give better gains In fact you need to look at it the other way they are sort of advancing the inlet. Retarding the exhaust that far on an Turbo would be a problem due to back pressure between the turbine wheel and exhaust valve. This pressure would re enter the cylinder with lots of exhaust retard. Causing poor power and detenation. Remenber emmisions are not done at any thing like full throttle.
