I am expecting a test drive this week sometime, the dealer thinks they will have one tomorrow.

The chassis is different because it is a AWD, so it is apparently different to the FWD stocko lancers. They also are MUCH stiffer with 200 more spot welds.

I agree about the interior, they are VERY basic, but they have a standard double DIN for the headunit, so it can be replaced, and the rest of the interior is not too bad. My major consern is how stiff the suspension is, if it is really stiff, I may not get it as I would use it as a daily driver.

I will make sure I get pics.

I dont really like the look of it all that much...always wanted an evo aswell, hopefully the prices of the 6's come down, theyre my all time favs, but if I were you and you like the test drive I say go for it, I mean its an EVO

Great piece of machinery - very effective, but they still look like a hotted up girls car in my opinion.

They are quite a different car from an XR6T as well, small (nimble) which is good for performance, but they arent as comfy, no good for towing, lots of people etc.

This is going to be your stumbling block I reckon. ALL previous models were very stiffly sprung so I don't see this one being any boulevard cruiser.

And forget the Bilsteins as they will only make it ride harder.

However you could always fit some adjustable coil-overs with spring/shock rates of your own choosing - soft to drive to work, and hard when you want to play on the track. :nono:

It's a lot of performance for the money though now that they have given it a realistic price.

I have often mulled over this sort of dilema, mostly making poor decisions and spending big $$$ to get out of this car, into that one etc  .

Consider;

* is point and shoot all you want? if not, how important is it REALLY?

* would the VERY basic interior, quality of fitment etc bother you? Miss the creature comforts at all? If so, HOW badly would you miss em?

* If you could combine both (assuming they are important), then what car would you buy?

I know heaps of people who have been through this like me, some owing modded Rexes for only a few months (I owned a heavily modded S15 from new then got rid of it for the "cruisey Monaro comforts and look", then ditched it for a T) Go figure? I can't.

I know the Mitsu is an absolute weapon, one of the very, very best. Is that what you want though on a daily basis and can you live with it? Will it hurt you if you just said go for it then had to get out of it in say 6 months- 18 months?

I'd own one in a heart beat if I could afford it, but I know already I would get sick of it as a daily driver.

Just some thoughts from a confused car owner/consumer. :nono:

one other thing, the next Evo will be the totally new platform/shape featured on one of the local mags, not sure if it was Motor or Wheels. So...??

When I looked at the Mitsu the T just sung to me so much more (The Mitsu just wasn't what I was after)...

As others have said I found the T to be a much more refined car than the Mitsu, I guess the question you should be asking first up is wether you can live with the less refined car??? And I also found the interior to be very cheap... (read plasticy)

but take it for a test drive and make your own mind up about it...

Also I guess the other thing to consider with the 10 year warrentie's etc is that I have heard mitsu is in trouble, if they do go under will the warrenty be worth the bit of paper it is written on? 10 years is a long time (espeically in the business world...) I'd make sure your not been charged a premium for that warrenty...

Not trying to put you off just you did ask...
