Tyres - Got Them

Featured Replies

Ok, I need a new set of tyres.

Michelin are out of Pilot Preceda stock for the next couple of months, and they don't make the Pilot Sport2's to fit the 17" rim. :smilielol:

So I'm looking elsewhere now, and have come across a few good comments on Pirelli P Zero Nero.

What are they like?

I hear the wet and dry grip is heaps better compared to the SP9000's.

I am concerned about the Sidewall strength and noise at highway speeds.

What is this like?

Anyone taken it to the track?

What life have you got out of them (km's wise)?

Thanks

There is a good recent discussion of tyres HERE including my detailed comparison of 235/40/18ZR Pirelli P Zero Nero's with 245/40/18 Dunlop 9000's.

Seriously as I mentioned in DrZ's link...

I had them on my last XR in 17's. They are much quieter than the Dunlop (in my case 9000's). they were good in the dry and brilliant in the wet, cornering and braking, they lasted about 35,000ks or 5,000 more than the dunlops.

The only down side is they were not cheap about $330 per corner.

I would get them again but I don't think they are available in the correct size for 18's.

The amount of km's you do Cro, you could just try 'em and if you hate them you'd be up for a new set in a few months anyway!! :spoton:

I'd seen that TireRack site Mal posted up before, but found that a lot of the tyres that are available in Oz just aren't on that site? There's so much damn variation in the things, depending on where they're made, etc, etc. :hrmm:

So far I've been very happy with my Goodyear F1's. :gooff:

Cro,

I have only today just purchased a set of Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals which got very high scores back in the U.S recently.......they have only just been released in OZ about 4 months ago........

At the moment they are on sale at Bridgestone and even shopping around town at diff Bridgestone outlets, I saved $110 in total on a set of 4.

They are being fitted tomorrow so looking forward to it......hope this helps

By the way, they are reviewed on the TireRack site I just read.......

Here is the link: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/fs_fir...k_wide_oval.jsp
