Hey guys. As per the topic, what are the differences between the Boss 260 and Boss 290?? Are there any differences?

Ok so the engines are identical?? A mate of mine is looking to buy an XR8 and is just wondering what the differences between the 2 engine wise actually are.

engines are indenticle 99% sure anyway.

Actually no take it back they arent identicle, im pretty sure the 290 has a higher comp set of pistons. ill dig up an article and let ya know

I think the GT also has different Cams and undergoes much more rigarous quality control and also a fair bit more balancing.

Interesting reading, other than some different internals eg (rods & pistons, valves) I still see no reason why you could'nt run the boss 290 camshafts in the 260. Physically they are the same billets with different grinds. No different to the old days of the 302 & 351 clevlands etc

There's quite of difference in the two boss motors and the 290 also runs a higher comp
