Traction Control Issues

Has anyone had this problem with traction control on a sedan with edit?

What is happening is when you take off at normal speed, say you are going around a corner and the traction control light starts to blink you have a quick loss of power and if you accelerate a little bit harder with it still flashing it switches itself off altogether and the light stays on?

You cannot switch it back on again unless you switch the car off and on again.

The switch becomes inactive and the light stays on but it is off.

It happens all by itself.

Similar thing happened to me. TC light doing exact same thing but no loss of power. Would come on at any time for no apparent reason. In my case, it was a faulty wheel sensor which was replaced by Ford.

Hope your problem is just that simple.

Michael have you had the Edit tune by someone ............if not get it done by someone who knows how to tune the Edit and they should know the codes for it

Pick your answer from the below options:

1: A fix is comming, don't worry your pretty little head

2: What TC problem? It's fixed.

3: No there is no fix it's to complicated for you to understand, shut up!

4: learn how to drive, If you can't handle the power don't do the edit!

Sixfan, before you start a single man crusade, or attempt to get a rise from me, use the search function - its your friend. I concisely answered the question of traction control 'switching off' a couple of months ago - Here is a copy and paste from that thread in the CAPA forums.

"Just to inform anyone here that wants to know, the answer to continuously working traction control requires two changes to your program -

1) Torque Module Switch set to ON (1)

2) Torque Limit, Min Engine Torque Allowed table all values set to -1023

All dealers have already been informed of this...and now so have you!

Its a 2 minute upgrade, so go get it."

If these settings were carried out exactly, then your traction control would work as factory. All of the current distributed programs have this fix in place. However if your tuner has implemented changes in any of the above areas they may well have triggered the problem.

Apologies Martin, I bought my EDIT after the fix had come out and foolishly believed the dealer who informed me that the TC issue was fixed (wonder who told him THAT!).

Appended are cut and pastes of your posts re the TC over the last couple of months to prove I can indeed use the search..... your post on the 27th confused me a bit, reads like the TC issue isn't resolved. Never mind, you tell me it is, I'll believe you!

just a point of clarification, if I was to buy a new EDIT tomorrow, would the TC work? Do I need a tuner to do this mod for me or can I just return the box to where I bought it? Will this cost anything or will it be free? Or should I reload the standard map and / or learn how to drive?

We can control the TC within the realms of the system parameters. If you want to drive around with torque management on, and min engine torque set to negative numbers it will work as well as the factory can make it work. Simple as that.

If you make too much power for it, then unfortunately, since only around 20% of the traction system is controlled by the PCM (the bit we touch) then it will have issues. If you want perfect traction control op, then load the factory 240kw map. If not, then learn how to drive. Its easy

The fix is being tested now.

If you bought your Flasher from CAPA then return it to them for the upgrade

If you bought it from a dealer they will be able to install the new code

I dont believe there would be a charge for this

Will let you know when the dealers have the latest database with the TC revisions in place.

It occurs because the vehicle generates a P2105 error condition, and does a forced ETC traction control shutdown. It considers that when trying to control the wheelspin that there is too much wheel slip (it considers there is something wrong with the ETC system) and shuts it off. At the moment a fix for this is currently being tested.
