Standard Brake Upgrade

nah I didnt get the 4000's... and I just used the ford standard pads. I should of changed them I know but they were wearing perfectly flat and stuff so I didnt bother. made a huge diff!!

I did the same but after a couple of months with the standard Ford pads the dreaded shudder came back. If you don't want this I highly reccommend you upgrade the pads too ASAP.

I am getting my car custom tuned in 3 weeks and getting the intercooler fitted... I am now seriously considering upgrading the brakes (front only)... but after searching am more confused then ever

what do I need to get with a budget of $1000 to get the car to stop a little bit better??? I have no idea... I have spent the last 3 hours searching and everyone has different opinions.

My budget is small... hence doing the front only... can someone in the know how please explain it to me.

Used to have an EL XR8, brakes were poor, especially in Darwin, were pulling up from high speeds was a regular occurance. Put slotted and cross drilled rotors all round, and a set of PBR greenstuff pads. SENSATIONAL felt liie it doubled my braking power. However after a few months the brakes started shuddering. The problem waqs resin leaking from the pads onto the rotors. PBR blamed the rotors and DBA blamed the the pads.

Cheaper to replace the pads and machine the rotors. Put bendix premium pads on, but never got back that magical brake feel. lesson I learnt do some research. Gut feeling is thought hat slotted rotors are good.

I put some DBA 4000Series rotors and some Bendix Heavy Duty's, with the titanium stripe through the pad, on the front. Let me tell ya, the thing pulls up now!!!! I love it!!

What is the initial 'feel' like? Are they OK when cold? Do they squeal?

The initial feel is good. I find im on the brakes like I was before and having get off them so I dont stop so soon. Also they are good when cold. I only live 4mins from work and they feel good all the way there. Also I havent had them squeal. They've been on for less than a week too.

Been through all of this before on past threads - If you cannot afford $1800 for the PBR upgrade then go the DBA 4000 slotted and a set of RB74 pads from Racebrakes total cost around $400 shipped plus whatever high grade fluid you want to use. YOu will stop in hurry time after time after time and no fade judder or squeal.
