Speaking of which I have my Phoon doing low 10's 0-400 on GT4 and cant crack a 9 second. Is this possible....and when dragging it loses boost as it revs up. WTF??? But back to the point the fords desperatly need a six speed auto as the 4 speed is long over due.....so bring it on. Maybe a stupid question but do you think they will have the same setup with the tiptronic?? I hope they DONT do the same as the SV6 and those stupid wheel padels. The Aston Martins run the very same 6-speed box and they run padels to great success...SO, I say bring the padels on!Dave. Venom XR6 Member 1,460 Member For: 22y 4d Location: Geelong Victoria Posted 09/06/05 09:16 AM Share Posted 09/06/05 09:16 AM I have a mate who works @ Prodrive and I was fortunate enough to take a nice long cruise in a GT with the new 6 speed installed for a rough testing life ... He's pretty secretive about the things @ Prodrive but I asked the right questions... Needless to say it was smooth and very nice... I was most impressed with cruising down the highway @ 100 ks and sitting on 1500 rpm...On a side note I took him for a spin when I installed my ShiftKit and he was suitably impressed... with my brakes (PBR Kit)... and he's one of the brake guys @ Prodrive so he's use to Brembos and the like... I should have known he was going to hit the anchors *hard* when he got behind the wheel heh... needless to say I nearly headbutted the dashboard... I forget how good the brakes are as all I ever really do is feather them lightly...<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Good effort to dob in which area he works in, the Ford PR office will love that. I hope they DONT do the same as the SV6 and those stupid wheel padels. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Same setup as now - NO paddles. The box can be adapted for many styles of shifting but the most common is tiptronic style and this is also the cheapest in production terms.ALSO, paddles are OK for professional drivers but not as user-friendly for your average punter. Ford will go the safer road.cdm> I'm pretty sure the ratios will be as I posted because of the production costs. Ford are already using the same box in the Navigator. And the Jag. Audi, BMW, and VW also use the same ratios. Bently and Rolls are the only ones who have a specific set of ratios from ZF. Obviously in a $half mill car they can afford the extra production costs but I'm pretty sure Ford will accept the standard offering. So it means diff ratios will definitely be moving quite a bit away from the direction you and other owners of the current BA cars would prefer.PS Whether its got padels, or even if it's got paddles, it matters little 'cos you auto drivers wouldn't know how to use them properly anyway!!! ... get a proper car with three pedals guys!
