I ordered number 333 in shockwave and it won't be built until early July, no point waiting for an upgrae as it will probably only be minor cosmetics, like the series 2 BA Turbo. If you are going to mod it then you are definately going to need Brembos or whatever, the brakes in the present car 13 get really hot with a high speed workout

It always amuses me how there is lots of advise about things like whether or not to buy brembos from people who have never actually driven let alone owned a BA with either PBRs or Brembos.

A few points as I own a F6 and did own a GT-P.

1) the Brembo option will actually cost you 5950 + 25% LCT

2) The replacement pads are about $1200 from most brake places

3) I did 85,000 km in my GT-P and when I sold it there was still heaps of wear left

4) I have PBRs on my Typhoon and they are not even close to as good at stopping at high speed as the heavier GT-P.

5) I am very seriously looking at flogging the F6 this weekend and buying another one with Brembos.

6) If you fit any after market brakes your warranty goes bye bye and unless you get the appropriate certs so does your insurance.

Now if all you want to do is tool around town and engage in the odd traffic light grand prix you will probably not need anything more than PBRs but if you are going to blast about in the bush you are going to get into trouble. I ran a give way sign the first week I had the F6 as it did not stop as quickly as I was used to in the GT-P (This was from about 160-170 on a private road in the bush).

The other issue with F6 (and XR6T) is the lack of back pressure when you back off. Low compressions engines are like that so the brakes do a lot mre work.

If you can afford it, buy it, if not I have 3000km old F6 going cheap....

I've made some enquiries as to aftermarket AP racing kits, and though they seem to be pretty capable (in fact, they seem damn good!), I don't want any post-purchase insurance/compliance issues at all. With my history, I can't afford the insurance people to take a dislike to me

One place said they supply a compiance certificate for their AP kits, but only if the full kit (front/rear, lines, pads & brackets) is purchased of course.

My driving style really is anything but subtle, so I'll certainly be spending some time considering my options. Taking insurance into account and whatnot, I may be better off ticking the Brembo box, and simply hunting around for the best deal on pads.

I'm taking this purchase pretty seriously, to the extent that I'm budgeting around $5-6k per year for vehicle upkeep. That's including rego, insurance, servicing and a rough stab at fuel for the year. Pretty anal, and that figures only rough, but it's still food for thought in terms of what a phoon might cost me. Brembos are a definate possibility, even if a do have to give up the whores and booze for a week or two

given that all insurances will be about $2k and an average 1 tank of fuel per week, you are going to meet or exceed your budget pretty easily

The booze and whores may become just a monthly occurence or treat ...... so to speak.

Hard choice if you ask me, comes down to fun with clothes on ,or clothes off really.
