Hey guys,

The cheapest you'll find an XR6 Turbo for in WA is 38k.

that's so true!!!

Nah - look around. I got mine in October last year for $35.5k (11/03 manual from Pickles in Balcatta, 18 000km). I looked at 2 others - an 03 and 04 at the same time which both sold under $36k.

Prices are even lower now and If I didn't love my car so much, I'd curse that I could have got one cheaper. Centre Ford and friends (Titan, Midway, Range) regularly advertise XR6Ts for $33 or $34k, and that even includes 04 models.

IMO $33k or less will get you a very good T in Perth.

Hey Guys

heres the story..

March 04 Build Date

XR6 NA Phantom

5 Speed Man (Rare as hens teeth)

Premium Sound (YAY!)

34,700kms

Body work is absolutely pristine (what else from a loving ford owner)

Tyres are better than average

Interior is in tip top condition too (got the matching phantom interior)

Theyre askin $32,990

Ok questions, what do you reckon I should pay?

This car is in WA, and its a manual...theyre pretty hard to come by round these here parts.

I'm 22 and as for insurance im not gettin too bad a deal

SGIO gave me 65% no claim (rating 1 for you eastern states ppl) chargin my 990 a yr though...but im just glad theyre givin me insurance at all

I drove the car along a pretty bumpy local road didnt feel anything unusual

Any particular things I should pay close attention too?

Just as a side not SGIO would insure me for a XR6T for 1100 per yr too...and im a 22yo who had a crash in Oct 01 (just a fender bender really)

Here is an idea...

How about getting one from the eastern states?

Here is one for sale on this forum: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17337

It doesn't have premium sound, but is only $28k. There are heaps around QLD/NSW/ACT/VIC that would fit into your budget with premium sound :)

How much does a one way ticket cost, $200? Add what $200 in fuel and you're in a T for the price of a NA with a kickarse get to know the car drive back home :)

There are a few cheap T's that pop up here and there in Perth. I've been keeping a close eye on the market. There is one 02 Manual with 40kms for $31k for sale at the moment.

octane, have you looked at a Fairmont or Fairmont Ghia?? Centre or Lynford have a cheap 03 Ghia for abour $28k I think.

On the other hand I could sell you my pimped Fairmont (Ghia front end) for a lot less then 33k and you won't find a scratch on the duco or mark on the interior trim in this baby. The Fairmont's make the base XR look plain in terms of options etc.

I am 22 and have 45% no claim bonus with RAC and pay $560/year for insurance.

Good luck! :)

If he is pressing the budget at the moment, a T might not be for him. Extra petty $ and insurance on a T are really going to stretch the bank. If your happy with the NA, go for it.

He could get a T for what he is paying now. Most companies like AAMI charge about $100 pa more for a T over a NA as well.

Get the T :spoton:

Off memory there were a couple of T's advertised over the weekend for 32k..one of them was a white one. Auctions are definitely the way to go.

I just bought a Turbo in the ACT for $33K, and it's a (July) 2004 with 21,000kms on it in perfect condition. If you're willing to come over the the east, you could pick up an earlier model with a few more km's for less than that. $38K for a Turbo seems like a very big ask to me?

Sorry should have clarified...

although the car is advertised 32990...my max budget is 29K

So I dunno..havin a bit of a look for turbos now..hows the manual gearbox hold up? though I wont be doin mods for a while as this is nearly gonna break me :tease:

but maybe a T will pop up. the easterns states flight over sounds like not a too bad idea, only id have to consider accomodation if I do not find the T on that first day..though a backpacker hostel woudlnt be expensive..

which state though? I do like the idea of the get to know drive though...should be pretty comfortable by the time I hit the nullabor :kissmy:

It'd prob be best if you try to line up the car before you fly over, a mate of mine did just this (he was in ACT, the car he brought was in Melb) I'm sure the guys on the forum would be more than happy to check over a car for you if you see it advertised. And let you know if it was worth flying over to get it...
