Hey all.

Today we finally got our new toy. Just a little 16ft run-about(see pic). Anyways it weights 880kgs all up. I'm just wandering if anyone with a manual has towed a similar sized boat. Specifically up a boat ramp.

I'm just wandering cos my car can be a bit of a dog by itself when driving off from a set of lights or something up a hill.

Cheers

Yeah that's Spam.

And as for slipping the clutch, once it gets warm, it slips itself, and the car goes nowhere.

Towed a boat weighing 2.8 t

Once we were moving was a pleasure.. Have towed the same boat with a turbo deisel cruiser 4L and the T pulled better...

Getting off the line is always a problem with my manual but started on some hills and although it took some moving, never got that baaaad smell from the clutch... Wouldn't like to do it too often, but I think at under 1 t you would be right if you resist the temptation to boot it...

Mine has only ever slipped once and that was during an excessive take off and changing into second gear when it slipped.....

My cars got 71,000Klms on her now and on her second clutch. This one is heading south too unfortunately. But yeah I'll practice on some hills first, just make sure I won't roll back into the water.

Can't help you with the manual bit, but my auto tows my 19' bowrider (1500kg) up the steepest and greasiest ramps without any wheelspin at all, and still beats most cars off the lights. :spoton:
