Hey guys

Lately my old mans XR6T has been running like total crap. He said the engine will just go flat and the engine light keeps coming on, but when you pull over and restart it its fine. It seems to have not as much punch as what it used to either, maybe it just needs a reflash? Also its been having a lot of stalling problems lately and rough idle. Any ideas what the prob is? Its a late 03 auto sedan with 29,000km on the clock.

Much appreciated,

Glenn :crybaby:

Glenn...... Engine light on = straight to dealer.

Stalling could be ECU, sensor or throttle body related

Engine light coming on and engine going flat (limp mode??) is usually related to a sensor detecting a fairly big problem that puts it to safety function. It could be a sensor bugging out, dodgy wiring or loose connector, could be something much worse. I doubt the ECU itself is causing the car to go to limp mode.

might pay to check all hose clamps around intake area. when I first picked up my turbo it hit limp mode within 2hrs. Hose clamps were loose. Not a problem since....

:kiss: Why cant we just get a car that works?!!??!!!! *please Ford*

Out of interest... does ANYONE have a car that hasnt had a problem with ANYTHING... like not even an air vent that wont stay where you put it :pinch: I'd be surprised if there was someone out there who hasnt had overboost, diff noise, gearbox probs, poor idle, loss of copious amounts of oil, hoses not attached.............................................

The engine light coming on may be traced back to a faulty accellerator pedal. Mine is doing it whenever I give it more than 1/4 throttle, a error code is logged in the ECU. The complete electronic throttle mechanism has to be replaced, we are selling shedloads of them at the moment!
