Then turned car back on and was on my way again about 1 min into it I noticed a bad smell (I had the windows down) I put them up and the smell went away.At this stage I thought ok it was somethink outside, about 1 hr later I put the window down again and again the smell comes back , I put the window up and smell goes, this continued for the whole trip there and 4 days later the way back to Sydney, and now while driving around in Sydney. I have never noticed this smell before and it appears that when I have the windows down the air is pushing this bad smell from the back of the car to the front.I opened the boot and it was the same smell, when car is idling no smell from engine at all. Note the smell gets worse if I boot it.The smell is like garlic with bad eggs I will be taking it to the dealer when it opens (damn public holidays), im thinking possible exhaust leak in the boot :o Has anyone else had this issue???Thanks in advance (I want new car smell back!) cqae Member 229 Member For: 21y 7m 6d Posted 02/01/05 10:25 AM Share Posted 02/01/05 10:25 AM if its a rotten type of smeel it could be bacteria in the A?C system. The dark, cold & damp enviroment in the evaporator is the perfect place for bacteria to grow. This can easily be treated by applying an anti bacteria/deodouriser to the system, just make sure it is going to kill the bacteria & not just hide it. You apply it thourgh the inlet duckts uner the hood & through the recirc duct which will be under the dash behind the glove box.
