December 20, 200421 yr #12 <{POST_SNAPBACK}>its no wonder we all get pots with the amount of popcorn we eat!
December 20, 200421 yr #14 Exactly right Ian you would think that a tuner who install's it would know the difference between a piggyback to a STAND alone <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Cheap shot and uncalled for...
December 20, 200421 yr #15 So on a xr6t there is no stand alone computer system avilable than.Ian<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Ian you might be right. Back in July when I first decided to mod my car I was refered to Nizpro by motec to have discussions about fitting the motec. During these discussions with Simon I was told that the motec at this point in time could not inter mesh with the auto properly and that function was to be left for the PCM module. This was a while ago and things may have changed for motec. I think where people are getting confused between Xede, EMS as examples is that when they refer to stands alone they are refering to ECU like the EMS and motec do all the engine management by directly driving the injectors using the crank angle sensors and their own temp sensor etc. Where as the Xede piggyback manipulates the signals to the PCM which then drives all the engine management functions. In a word they are all piggybacks in a fashion just different versions and ways to go about it.I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong.macka
December 20, 200421 yr #16 your not its just that people here refer to signal benders as piggy backs and full stand alone ecus on most vehicles stand alone where they run in paralel.in effect you have 2 types of piggy back the signal benders and the paralel systems

A couple of questions for you if you don't mind. What sort of input trigger does the T use (cam or crank)and what input sensors are required to make the EMS do it's job? Also how many ignition outputs are required to fire it up properly? Thanks in adnance.Peter
December 20, 200421 yr #18 Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I know(which isn't much) both the Exede and the TSI are piggy back type units. The thought of spending 7k on a computer alone is ridiculous unless it does my dishes as well.I was thinking along the lines of Haltech,Wolf,Microtech etc. All in the similar price range as the EMS. Technically speaking would they do the same job as the EMS or does the EMS have something special about the way it controlls fuel and spark etc.Peter<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Motec M800 will definitely wash your dishes, it is that good!
December 20, 200421 yr #19 Motec M800 will definitely wash your dishes, it is that good!<{POST_SNAPBACK}>KBB, Pretty dear dishwasher at 7K or more fitted and tuned, it would be goodto see someone actually run one on the T for a comparison.macka
December 20, 200421 yr #20 Hey Dynowog you sure cop a hammering from certain people for attempting to share some of your knowledge, don't you. dw...no1 sucker for punishmentA couple of questions for you if you don't mind. What sort of input trigger does the T use (cam or crank)dw....2cam and 1crank signaland what input sensors are required to make the EMS do it's job? dw....above plus map, water/air temps, tps etc. Also how many ignition outputs are required to fire it up properly? dw....6 ignition and 6 injector driversThanks in adnance.Peterdw....your welcome peter
