I just heard on the JJJ news that Steve Bracks or whatever this clowns name is, is trying to push for cars to have speedos that only go up to 130km/h!!!

I really hate this man. What is his problem why does he hate motorists so much.

He says there is no need for cars speedos to show 260km/h cause this incentifies motorists to test there cars out.

Why do we as motorist put up with this idiot stuffing our rights as motorists ill never know ill never know.

Can you honestly say you NEED a speedo to read higher than 130kph? How does it effect your rights as a motorist? Unless you are driving in the NT you don't have any right to be driving above 110kph. Over 130 kph in most states gets you an instant suspension.

Why should we be forced to have a speedo that "ONLY" reads to 130 km/h?

This won't stop drop kicks wrapping themselves around telegraph poles, bring in driver education and driver courses, bring in a realistic leaner/probationary program, there are lots of things that should be done before forcing vehicle manufacturers to fit 130 km/h speedos.

Prices of cars will rise, granted only by a small margin, ADRs are now one of the most complex set of rules for a manufacturer to import a car under, lets make it even worse..

The speedo on my ZL went to only 199. The car could, and did, go faster than that. I didn't loose any sleep over it.

Looks like we might be seeing the start of the same sort of 70's political game that saw the end of high powered cars like the then XB GT all over again.

It will be interesting to see how far they go in legislating against the production of Aussie high powered cars. I guess it had to come sooner or later....

What sh!ts me is the Govt have decided all this based on the performance of the Typhoon. HSV have had larger capacity, quicker cars in both accelleration and top speed for ages, but no mention is made of them. Driver education (lack of) is the biggest problem here I see. Ban low performance drivers not high performance cars.

If speedos only went to 130 you wouldn't know how fast you were going if you went over it. People could actually drive faster than they do now. I believe driver education is the answer. People need to experience being out of control where they are not in danger. Many young drivers crash the first time they get sideways because they have never been sideways before so they don't know how to get out of it.
