Front Mount Intercooler

Can anyone tell me how much size there is at the front of the car for a front mount intercooler? Can someone possibly measure the size for me? I am having a XR6T ute delivered this week but until then I dont have one to measure.

If anyone has access to a digital camera and can take close up photos of the front of the car, ie both front corners, and the inlet of the front bar that would be great as well!

The question you should be asking is "does anyone know the factory IC pressure drop?" And then "does anyone know the factory IC temp drop?"

Sometimes "custom" ICs, big large ones especially from X trucks, are worse than having no IC

The other issue is we havent figured out the turbo yet

It isnt common knowledge for the compressor map and how it will flow against thermodyanic efficiency and resisting surge

I'm basically going to get a large bar and plate FMIC to cover a larger area of the front of the nose. I only use quality cores for a start, so theres no question about it being a 'truck' core.

The point is that the Ford item will be a comprimise between performance and cost, mine wont have that compromise.

If anyone has the dimensions please let me know.

The point is that the Ford item will be a comprimise between performance and cost, mine wont have that compromise.

Before you go spending/wasting a lot of the hard earned you might like to consider the fact that even with up to 11 psi boost the Ford intercooler has been deemed sufficient for the job. This has been documented by ppl who are playing with boost pressures and ECU upgrades.

As a said before, think about the air flow around the

engine before you cover the whole opening with a

new FMIC.

As I said they need air flow, with out it the engine will over heat!

And that's not a good sign.

I'm all for a new Bar and Plate cooler, just don't go

stupid and cover the whole opening.

And maybe a XR8 bonnet could help with the air flow.

Maybe the big f#cking buldge in the bonnet,

all the extra space helps.

When the series 2 xr6 turbo comes out, that's

when I'll be buying one.

Just watching all the mistakes happen first.

And there are some happening all the time.

Its safe to say that I will ultimately be boosting to more than 11psi. I'm still waiting to see what a few of the mod companies (CAPA, Herrod, Nizpro, DNA motorsport, APS) come out with before deciding which way to go.

And as for the covering the entire front section, air still flows through the intercooler, you do loose some radiator efficiency because of this, but if you are serious you will upgrade the radiator to a much larger item at the same time. At the end of the day its just a question of what your aims are, and mine are high.
