Well I just got a call from Darren a CSR from Ford Melbourne, his words "There is no BEM update the alarm does not chirp as advertised and never will. And are unaware of any other alarm related issues."

Anyone else heard a different story?

Hmmm Today I got a call from Hanna at Ford melbourne to say I would have a new loom to resolve the DVD noise in 3-4 weeks and a software upgrade may be released in 4-5 weeks addressing the chirp and boot problem. Wonder who to believe now

Does anyone else have problems with the alarm not disarming when you open the boot without deactivating the alarm? Most times BUT NOT ALWAYS, if I press the boot release without unlocking the doors first, the alarm beeps twice and when I open the boot the alarm is triggered. The anoying thing is that SOMETIMES it beeps three times and the alarm is not triggered

all fixed now, apparently they replaced the boot switch... Now to make the bugger chirp on arming.

Still having the odd problem with the alarm, have given up on the idea of the "upgrade" chirping on lock twice(as it used too). I would be happy if it didn't trigger the siren randomly when I start it. Once every couple of days (usually at shops) the siren goes off when I start it....the first time I switched the motor off got out, locked and unlocked, the alarm still squealing eventually it timed out so I got back in and started it and the alarm went off again, so now I just drive it away, alarm howling ...bringing a whole new meaning to "drive it like you stole it"......which brings me to another point - know one takes any notice anyway, so if you dont hear your own alarm its a waste of money!!

NT TURBO, The software to make your alarm give you audible verification has been released for some time now.The only thing is that the audible sound is actually from the cars horn and not the siren like you would think it would.

Also the problem you've been having with the alarm going off when you start the car,just wondering if you've had any rain or your cars been wet before or while the alarm is playing up???I have had a couple of cars with a similar problem where water ingress into the bonnet switch makes the alarm think that the bonnet is open.

Also something else to note that you already found out,when the alarm is activated you can still start and drive the vehicle.It's only an audible indicator of unauthorised access to your vehicle and not an immobilizer.That still remains the job of the vehicles PATS(Passive Anti Theft System)

NT, have a look athe the Earthing point on the fuse board. The guy who installed mine left it slightly loose and it would trigger at random. Its at the bottom right of the board ( the one in the drivers footwell )

Ok thanks guys, one question though FORDTECH, shouldn't I be able to start it even with the bonnet open? Reason is, I have a shock sensor connected to the bonnet trigger, you think this could be causing it, was going to disconnect it and see if it still did it before I go back to service anyway, but that's all that stopping someone smashing a window.

OK it gets weirder......I stopped the car, left the accessories on and the alarm siren still went of when I came back and started it. Could the battery voltage drop to much while cranking and the alarm thinks its being disconnected?
