As far as I know theres just the one size screen for the colour display. The black and white display there are 2 sizes, fairmont and GTP get a larger B&W display than XT etc... because of the climate control and trip computer.

The amp should be next to the Sub if I'm not mistaken. Attached to the underside of the shelf.

So the premium sound has Tweeters in the A pillar?

Nope, no amp, just a bulge in the middle for the subwoofer.

BTW, over on the drivers side under the rear parcel shelf, is a little rectangular door that is covered in the same carpet type material as everything else in the boot. Inside is a compartment - empty. I wonder what that's for?

Incorrect for amp location. Take a look on the LHS in the boot - you'll notice a buldge just before the boot lining curves up and over to meet the boot door seal.

You can pull away the cover - don't be afraid, those little black plastic button-like things come out! There you'll see a nice matt grey box with heat sink and all. There's your amp.

I think that compartment you're talking about, exar, might be for a First Aid kit in Fairmont Ghias and the like? But I could be wrong there!!

The Luxury Pack in the XR's colour screen is larger than the premium sound option in the XR's. We had a look at my car and another XR6T with premium sound and there is a noticable difference, it looks about 20% larger. I always thought it was the same.

Except mine is mostly bright aluminium coloured. Quite a big box Doesn't seem so smart for them to put it under the carper as the heat sink would worlk much better in free air. Anyway, I noticed it was made by SANYO for Ford.

Yeah, the Extra compartment in the boot if for the Satellite navigation.

Now I am confused, some people are saying the cars with the Dual Zone Climate control have a bigger LCD, this sounds logical because they have to incorporate Temperature and so on, but I am unsure if it's correct...?

yes the cars with dual zone CC have the bigger screen. too many people are assuming that the prestige audio comes with the better screen, it only does if you get the XR luxury interior pack

Ok here goes, I think the XR's with Premium Sound simply have the same size LCD as the XR's with the Luxury Pack (with climate control). Here are the comparison photo's.
