It seems that these days nearly every car has a spoiler, body kit or alloy wheels from the factory, do you think this has devalued (maybe not monetry, but image wise) the XR/PPV and SS/HSV cars? I have to do a double take every time I see a XT Falcon with a body kit to make sure it isn't actually an XR and Expensive Daewoo of course have SV8 which looks quite similar and have same power as SS.

I dont think so Falchoon, although its true and ive noticed that also. that's why I changed my spioler to a bigger one and put bigger shinier wheels etc just to look different..

I agree with Falchoon, to many cars look the same :banghead:

That's what inspired me to do the shaker idea. To give my car an individual look.

You want see many other cars like it. :banghead:

Although I don't mind if other people want one as well.

Yeh, every car coming out with body kits and spoilers does give me the poops. Only because I'm sick of seeing them. But alot of people can't afford 'real cars that deserve to have spoilers' ?? but everyone has the right to drive what they want, and have it look how they want within their own budget. Personally, I don't think they devalue our cars at all. I guess we should just worry about the cars WE drive and try not to be picky of everyone elses means of transport.

I followed a HgAg Fairmont up Anzac Highway today. It was obviously lowered and had big aftermarket wheels....didn't recognise the brand or model.

But, without spoiler or bodykit, it looked bloody magnificent.

Maybe, the added plastic is getting a bit too common....or lowered cars just look better regardless. Would've loved to have seen a lowered XR alongside......but it's hard to imagine it would've looked better than this Fairmont did.

People like sporty looking cars, and most cars can be made to look alot better with a boot spoiler and deeper front bumper, that's why just about every car has a model with this included or can be optioned in. I dont think it has ruined the identiity of performance cars, becasue I can still spot a GT/XR6/XR8 when I see one, and even HSV's still stand out, I think what it has done for me though is that spoilers and kits just arent special anymore, you see it on the equipment list and overlook it, rather checking out to see how many cup holders it has or something.

I agree

I am really over the whole 'body kit' crap. It is so '80's.

The basic BA Falcon shape is really good. Dick Johnson has done a smart thing by putting the gurney flap on the trunk lid instead of some stupid wing. I'm not convinced about the engine cover though....the hood bulge should have been enhanced with vents at the back but.....it's not my company nor my car.

I think the basic thing such as a lowered stance, slightly larger and wider wheels with a loud colour (Blood Orange,Citric Acid) with blackouts as well as proper striping is just the thing to emphasise the shape and purposefulness of a performance car.

Conversely, lowered with big wheels, dark tint and a classy metallic silver/black/dark green etc looks very Euro and menacing.

Just look back at the classic cars such as Steve McQueens Mustang in Bullitt, the black Charger in the same movie, the Audi S8 in Ronin or even a modified car such as Max's Interceptor in Mad Max. Not over the top but a good combo of colour, style and rims.
