How did I get it you ask? It was one of many, 'spare cars' a mate of mine owns over there (Do not ask, as you would not believe me) and no he is not a car dealer. All I will say is that there is a warehouse with racking to store many different types of vehicles.

So he is a thief then?

I am happy to do a bit of a review on it if some of you are interested? Having it for a couple of weeks gave me the chance to get an overall impression.

Yes please! :w00t2:

Oh yes please ... we'll all sit quietly and pay attention, I promise.

:k24t:

Well the car was a 2002 Carerra 4 6 spd with a GT3 body kit, sunroof and usual porsche gear. It had a silver exterior and what I can only describe as 'Terracotta' coloured interior  (Hey beggars cannot be choosers I suppose!) The car had 44 thousand Miles on the clock and was going to be sold after my departure. Book value was 45,000 pounds, ($135k)!

For those who do not know, when you purchase a porsche new you receive a Factory Fitted blonde with the body and the looks to match the car. This used to be an optional extra, however this is now listed as a standard feature. Being that I had brought my own blonde over from Aus with me, this Porsche had the factory one removed to save any agro that may have been caused.

Build quality on the car was pretty faultless, it's amazing to see not only how close all the panels are mached but also inside the car the interior just flows and has no sign of tackiness whatsoever. There is a back seat in which a dwarf would struggle to be confortable in, so really it's just asthetic. Small boot in the back combined with the one in the front gives enough space to fit 3-4 sports bags, or a small child if desired.

One thing I love about this car is that it is a true sports car, with the rev taco smack bang in the middle where it should be, and the speedo odd to the side with all other relevant info.

From the driving perspective, believe all the hype. This car is fast! And then Fast again! The way the power is applied is gradual as the revs climb, but like any N/A car if you want to pull away quickly you need the revs. The car had an amazing ability to pull in any gear, I almost felt like I could have taken off from a standing start in 6th! If you give it some stick as it goes through the rev range you can hear the induction system go through distinct stages of application, how many I am unsure of as I was too busy one trying not to sh*t my pants, and also dealing with the massive amount of power it was generating. It would surge and put you back in the seat then when you thought that was over it would do it again then again until you were literally saying 'Holy sh*t'. The noise from the induction was incredible when you planted the foot it got louder. The engine noise inside the cabin was relatively quiet however, from outside the car was quite loud and had that lovely Porsche bark to it.

What really amazed me however was this car was as happy being driven at 60km/h as it was at 160km/h nothing seemed to phase it. You could pull away in any gear smoothly and with no fuss. It you want to pull away fast you really needed to make sure you were in the right gear with the right revs, and the fun is immediately there, other wise you could drive it like you would your wife's Laser. The driveline felt so tight and was extremely forgiving if you were in the worng gear, it would not matter.A very drivable car around town and likewise on the fast blackstuff. One interesting point was the clutch, not overly forgiving and would engage right at the end of the release which made it interesting as your knee always felt elevated to a certain extent. The other interesting thing was the accelerator pedal comes up out of the floor rather than down from the firewall. This takes a bit of getting used to especially if you have large feet, and there is a knack to heal and toeing. The gearbox was as smooth as they come, beautiful direct short shifts made an absolute pleasure of changing gears, why someone would order an auto beats me with this type of gearbox.

Once you were belting along fast through the twisty stuff the car glued to the road like snot to a chickens lip. In some circumstances you would overplace the car into a corner to compensate for the body roll you are normally used to, so you would have to re-correct as this car was direct as it came, the only thing doing the rolling was me in the seat. Steering was direct but smooth and gave great feedback, brakes are unbelieveable and I came no where close to testing their limitations. The fastest I got up to was 140mph which I think is about 160-170km/h but really this was not pushing the car at all. The only negative if you could call it that, would be the car is not overly forgiving in the fast handling stakes. While it is presice and quick it will handle brilliantly until you find that point of stuffing up a corner or similar and it does not forgive, get it very wrong into a corner, and I wish you the best of luck. Being that the engine is almost mid mounted the first thing to go is the rear, as that's what's carrying the weight.

Overall this car is fantastic. I am 6'1 and probably found it a little tight so I would say if you are bigger than 6'4 you would struggle, but hey that's what sports cars are about! I really could not fault the car, the only thing the T has over it is the room, besides that no competition. It's just unfortuante now they it has shown me how bad the driveline is on the Ford's :w00t2:

I would have one tommorrow, in fact I would sell my right nut for one! I will eventually buy one, but this will be a few years away yet.

Hey Mondie, GT still for Sale eh? Yeah mate travelled around Italy, went to my family's villa in the Canery islands, then caught up with family in the UK.

The Porsche, well yes the T feels like a Morris Minor compared to it, :sofa: what a car! I am happy to do a bit of a review on it if some of you are interested? Having it for a couple of weeks gave me the chance to get an overall impression.

So has everyone been on there best behaviour? And who would be our newest member that has made an impression?
