Its just a General Motors RPO (regular production option) code for the 5.7L engine found in the 1997-2004 corvette (except for the LS6 found in the Z06 corvette) and also in the camaro and firebird and commodores too.

MM6 = 6 spd manual gbox or GU6 = 3.42 ratio axle

its just a model number

like with all the car models... BA EL EF xD etc... they dont stand for anything... just a way of distinguishing the models apart from each other
