June 21, 200422 yr #1 Its been a good day.Got a call this morning from the salesman at New Oak Ford who sold me the GT. Explained that he has resumed work there after leaving 6 months earlier to start a business. Anyhow asked me how the car was going so gave him the full spiel ending with its a POS He said that's no good, let me get back to you. 5 mins later l get a call from the Service Manager wanting to know when he can get the car in to record the serial numbers so he can order me a new diff. Apparently Dana/Ford have made available a modified diff that has tighter backlash settings and changed bearings (so no whine either) He has replaced the diff in one GT (Adrian, GT522 on FF) and he says it is much improved, still slightly there if you intentionally make it clunk (but l can live with that)Car is booked in next week for its 15000km service and will have the diff replaced the following week so will let you know how l get on.
June 21, 200422 yr #2 Great to hear Mondie, as a fellow shunter it's great to see solutions coming! Mate the wait for the diffs are up to 12 weeks, however I suspect you will be getting one of the 3 hand built diffs that Dana produced last week. I have got one coming as well. It is currently in Dana's test car before being shipped accross to my dealer.
June 21, 200422 yr #3 That's great news, Mondie. Funny how these things come out of the blue to make your day.Fingers crossed that it all works out like it should.
June 21, 200422 yr #4 Author JB,l was told the diff would come down from Sydney and l would need to wait about a week.
June 21, 200422 yr #7 JB,l was told the diff would come down from Sydney and l would need to wait about a week. Mate I hope that's the case! As you know I have had much experience with it, and have done alot of investigating with my dealer. Dana called last week to tell us that they had 3 grade 10 hand checked diffs on the floor, that is how I new about it. But then again it was meant to be down in melb this week and I have not heard a thing. To date I have been waiting 9 weeks for my 3rd diff.I really hope that this solves all of your issues, and hopefully you can give us the great news at the end of next week
