Guest cul08r Guests Posted 15/06/04 06:16 AM Share Posted 15/06/04 06:16 AM Hi Guys,As most of you are aware I am selling my T to go back to the lure of the dark side again. No, not that dark side you idiots, the AWD type of dark side. Never get me in a Holden (mutter mutter swear)I have been trying to sell my T in a number of different ways, and really wanted to avoid the hassle of Classifieds, and wanted a quick sale. I have already hosen my dark-side ride, so I need to move the T quickly. I took it to the auctions last week where there were a number of dealers and private buyers and I ran it through twice.I could not get one hit on my 09/03 car with all of my options (see sig) at $35,000 with 35,000ks on it. There was also a 12/03 standard white manual T with aftermarket 18s and 9,500ks that could not get a bite at $34,000 either. You could have driven home in a 02/02 VX SS with 75,000ks for $22,000. Or a VY SS ute with leather and 19,000ks for $30,000. I can't understand why the market is so dead for ALL cars at the moment. The place only had about a 40% clearance rate on the two days that I was there and most of those cars went for just on the reserve. Is it June 30, Iraq, the forthcoming election, interest rates ot the Crocodile Hunter saga that is hindering the process?I have now resigned to selling the T in the Trading Post this week, and I will see how that goes.laterAndrewPS If your interested, look for my post in the For Sale section (hint hint)! I had it everywhere, Trading post, Drive, carsales.com.au and 4x4 newsgroups. Over 3 months I had 4 calls and one visit. I was astounded as this car was the best in its day, but noone was interested.I ended up trading it in for the T with a loss of $7k on the finance payout This is after owning it for 4.5 years !!!I think the problem is being caused by many factors, here are some of them:The car makers could not clear their 2003 stock so they have been heavily discounting to get rid of them. My Fatherinlaw was offered a new 2002 Calais for the cost of a 2003 executive The BA2 is gonna be out in 3 months. The amount of 15yo imports that have flooded the market causing the local secondhand market to crash. The sheer amount of models and makers of cars all trying to sell.A mate of mine just sold his Nissan Pulsar ST-L for $10k less than he bought it 6 months ago, it only had 5,000km on the clock.I am sorta glad I do not need to worry about cars for another 5 years Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/11335-resale-of-the-t/#findComment-134200 Share on other sites

And that's cosz I wanted a car that I knew hadnt been flooged. How many people that have sold there turbos or are selling there turbos didnt give them a hard time. Alot of these people change there cars every few years especially lease cars.why would you buy second hand when you can have the pleasure of new. I wouldnt buy a second hand XR6T unless it was going for 30k or less I think people need to understand once you spend 30k or more it might as well be knew . Just look at how people are told to run them in drive it like you stole it fine if you are going to keep the car a year or two but what about 5 years down the track..my 2 cents and that's why I will hold on to mine.Thank you.Goodaye.P.s All these people that are selling are the ones that are bringing the resale down.regards Stang Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/11335-resale-of-the-t/#findComment-134264 Share on other sites

You just need to find that one person........goodluck.If things get too much for you I will gladly swap you for the wifes AU wagon.. Zeke zeke Member 792 Member For: 21y 11m 4d Location: Adelaide Posted 18/06/04 12:12 AM Share Posted 18/06/04 12:12 AM As a new car, the T is right up there with the best in terms of BFYB.So, a heavily depreciated, well-cared for, 2nd hand T must be one of the great performance bargains of all time. Especially since most are still under new car warrantee. It's tough that our cars are worth less now than when we bought them. But I bought my T to drive and enjoy and it hasn't disappointed me yet. I only ever bought one car partly as an investment (the old Jag). I probably lost > $20,000 on that old beastie, but I still have a photo of it on the wall, remember it fondly and would dearly love to drive it again.I think disappointment awaits anyone who regards a new car as an investment, cos it's just too unpredictable. When I come to sell my T, I'm confident it will find a good home at a fair price and that'll be good enough for me. I'll also be surprised if the depreciation is significantly less than other similar Aussie-built cars. If it is, the buyer will really be getting a bargain.
