Not a problem on that front Scotty. The main map which I will drive around with is the current standard map modified slightly for a little extra power a bit earlier in the rev range. The switch will have a second higher performance map that will be used mainly on track days or at the strip. I would probably only need the second mode against turbo porsche's and the like, not much else comes close. :o

Just got a call from Amberley and the car won't be finished till tomorrow. that's cool with me as I'd rather have it take a bit longer and be perfect, than rushed and be not quite right.

Rob told me that at 4000rpm I'll have about 20rwkw's extra. I cant wait to see what those exra 20kw's feel like. For a comparison my car gained 22rwkw's when I had the bigger injectors fitted and dropped my 1/4 time from 13.3 to 12.8.

Its like xmas eve, one more sleep (after a niht at the club) and "BOOF" is back. I'm looking forward to Heathcote on Saturday to see what sort of times the 2 tunes will get.

I'll be able to show all the guys on the Marysville cruise the dyno graphs and details on Sunday. :spoton:

Geea,

So I take it that this extra power is liek the buffer that they put in when they tune your car in teh first place. Like a little de tuning, to make it safer to run. So this is going to take you closer to the edge of the components in your beast.

This is truly jsut a question as it seems you arent changing andything else so +20kw is like the buffer zone they set at initial tuning up.

My understanding is that when my car was originally tuned in its current state it was done in such a way as to get good performance whilst looking after the drivetrain and also ensuring the longevity of the engine. I believe that the 2nd tune will be closer to the limits of most of the components and also the traction of the vehicle. Ian told me when I originally picked up the car after the new injectors that he could up the boost a bit. This wasn't done as the original intercooler would have struggled to cope and then heat would have become a problem. Ian knew that I use the car as a daily driver and that my wife also drives it on occasion. For this reason I needed good reliable power. It was for this reason that the car was slightly detuned (if you call 255rwkw detuned  ). The 2nd map in the Xede will be less concerned with these issues as it will only be used on the drag strip or at the race track, for short periods of time. :spoton:

Now this is going to be interesting!

I can't wait till Saturday to see how the two maps go with those new tyres.

Go Geea
