So many people say to me "You should have bought a house."

My reaction: "A house is nowhere near as much fun as one of these!"

Plus, I want a car like this while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. I don't want to be waiting until I'm Kenny's age to get it!

 I'm 23 and dont wanna be paying off a house just yet....I agree that the T is much more fun anyways...especially when Glen cant keep up to my HgAg colourings :hrmm:

All my friends love it...parents were against it at first but when they went for a drive they finally understood.

As for the house thing.....I'm living in a brand new house as it is anyways.

I only ordered the T a week ago and I've already got a whole bunch of comments from guys at work like "you should have bought a house!" and "why would you spend $50k on something that is only going to depreciate!".

There are two things I wanted to buy: A new car and an investment house. This is how I see it: If I did the so called "smart thing" and bought a crappy house (which is all I would have been able to afford on my wage) I could kiss the new car goodbye for at least 15-20 years. On the other hand, if I bought the car, worst case scenario is I would have it paid off and fully owned in 5 years and I'd be right back where I started. Except I'd have a head-turning T!

My 2 cents anyway...

My wife keeps telling me that I am driving around in her eternity ring that she could have had or an investment property we could have bought.

My response is, you have enough diamonds and you can sleep in a car but you can't drive a house

I bought mine knowing that at least some of it willl be tax deductible, my first car cost $600,2nd $2500,3rd $8,500 4th $18,000. and Now this $44,000 kept my last car for 9 years gave it to the father inlaw still in perfect condition if I get 10 Years out of this I view it as costing me $4400 a year I can live with that knowing that I`m driving round full warranty ,fully safe car and get nice comments to boot.My last car was bought when it was 2 years old apparently the roof and boot had been resprayed hailed one day all the clear came off panel beater said car yard did a sh*t respray on roof b4 they sold it to me. Will only buy new from now on. Enjoy what ya have now tomorrow may never come.

Only piece of advice is have your new car but try to put some money away as well.

30 years ago I bought a Fiat 124 sports coupe. Very fast car at the time - but hopelessly unreliable (blamed on the way I drove it). But it was fun!

If I put the money into a deposit on a house, it probably would've been better financially. But, looking back, I wouldn't change a thing. Besides, I'll probably die richer than I want to anyway.

Mrs z was 100% supportive of the current purchase because:

1. She understands passion.

2. It deflects attention from the money she spends on her horse.

3. The alternative was a 5 series BMW at more than twice the price.

So, I say go for it! But make sure it enriches your life - not shortens it! That means - realise that the invulnerablity of youth is a fiction that is easily dispelled by working in casualty departments of city hospitals.

PS Attached is a 30 year old photo of zeke in boy racer mode at McNamara Park at Mt Gambier. Felt faster than it looks now!
