luckily tafe is just round the corner from simon. they suggested spark plugs as well but haven't got anytime to have a proper look at it today. was told the plugs got changed 15,000km's ago but can't be too sure and don't know what the gaps are on them. cheers guys if I can't get it into XFT I'll give barry a call at BPT too. help! tonight I was driving alongside my mates and accelerated and as the car was coming on boost (about 2500-3000rpm) the engine was making popping and spluttering sorts of noises. I only tried once more to see if it was intermittent but it wasn't. car drives fine off boost. on start up initially it doesn't really splutter at all but after a drive it seems to splutter more. any idea's? car's got k&n air filter, F6 intake, 42lb injectors, I think a walbro fuel pump, pwr stock replacement cooler, xforce 3" dump, cat and cat back exhaust and a custom tune though I don't know who tuned it. it's apparently running about 300rwkw. parts were installed by tim slacko west racing and tuned at APC wangara but back when they didn't have their own tuner. I was thinking maybe valve springs (still stock)? everything was done before I bought the car except for the F6 intake. cheers Rhys

pretty sure it's mercury switch to cut all electronics in the car in the event of the car rolling and prevents fires. need to put a fragile this way up only sign on it! Rhys

I've only changed a couple of thermostats and all have been a bit tough to get out but what's even harder is getting it back in without pinching the seal. I have no idea about the metal pipe though Rhys

agreed, I figured it was alot of tradies just happen to hit their trailers, also it's hard to see if your reversing towards a pole since the tray is at shoulder height. strip looks nice mate, very practical. Rhys

dynamat has run out of pretty much any kit with a sufficient amount of deadener for a couple of months so if your looking it doing it in the short term your going to have to go stinger roadkill or something not name branded. Rhys

don't bother, the speakers are crap panasonic ones, the head unit has very poor clarity and the tweeters are cheap. best off going all at once, aftermarket head unit, alpine, pioneer, blaupunkt any of those are reasonable units for price. if you want to go all out you could go nakamici or something but I hardly see the point unless your going for competition. some good quality 6.5" splits in the front (boston as you said are fantastic, the Z6's or pro's would blow over anything ford can provide). could go dyn's, morel, boston, SS, depending on what sounds good to you. amps well you can go for anything as theres so many choices whether you want to run the fronts passive, active, have a seperate amp for the sub etc etc. the sub you should be going for a single 10 or 12". boston G5's, IDmax 12's and Treo's seem popular at the moment though I've never used any to have an opinion. best thing you can do to a car for more mid and low end is deaden and seal the doors, I did it in my old XT and it made the stock speakers sound remarkably better. lastly the BA's have a common issue of getting induced noise through wiring so be careful where you put components. try keep crossovers and really any wiring at all away from behind the kick panels as theres alot of wires running there and it's a known cause of induced noise. good luck Rhyso

mate I got an xr6 turbo ute running bigger injectors, fuel pump, boost etc etc and last fortnight I've been driving to tafe which is a 60km round trip in stop start traffic. I got about 450km to the tank and I was giving it a fair bit. normally I get about 600kms to the tank on my way to work in no traffic so I was pretty happy with the economy. my average consumption sits on about 12.5, drops often to 12.1 when I just drive conservative but it's hard to! my mate has an xr8 ute and he gives it alot and he gets about 18l/100kms. in what you've written above the BA premiums are bigger, you said BA premiums are 325x32 and BF are 322x28 so he is right in saying that you said they are 3mm bigger and 4mm thicker Rhyso
