great stuff chikT as an 05 T ute owner ( in rapid yellow of course) I can vouch for yr good taste... wont be long now and you will have the 300 club bug.... trust me
-
mate my ute does the same with a new fitted APS exhaust, just like yours, there is a klunking when you shake the talipipe sideways... or drive around RH bumpy corners....I was going to load up the rubber hanging bush a tad sideways to eliminate it, but it is only every now and then - and I kind of live with the odd clunk now ( mine only bangs if you shake it sideways) if it banged all the time, I would have gotten creative, but I was lucky its only now and then. my ute is stock standard height etc cheers

muzza. appreciate the info, what did the nizpro plenum set you back?? I would get bottom end done first, what plans are underway for your?? if I am ultimately after 400, I think the zorst needs to go up a notch, but good to know the 4inch dump helps the APS zorst if I am not going too crazy. thanks G

guys, appreciate some help in direction, as stated 327 is great at the wheels, but we all want more. present mods to my BA mk 2 ute...., PW stage 2 cooler, atomic springs, APS zorst, siemens squirters, bigger pump, wastegate actuator upgrade, typhoon CAI, edit by CV, I dont want another 20 kw ... I want 380 plus rwkw... what are yr comments bottom end upgrade mandatory for me- atomics short motor?? who else does a bullet proof rod, piston , crank package?? as these are my main concern I am a mechanic by trade, and dont mind building up my own block, but if someone does a good package I would rather just grab one and be done with it !!! present APS zorst would go for a 4 inch setup... limit of stock plenum?? is 400 do-able?? will the 6 speed take that level?? appreciate any constructive input

mate I do the trip alot... live on sunshine coast, and visit the olds down in canberra... if yr in a hurry - and dont care about scenery the coast highway will drive you mental with all the roadworks and speedzones - it is beyond a joke!!! I head inland to cowra, jerildrie, wellington, molong etc, come out at dubbo... then haul up the inland road - follow the trucks via gondowindi, ipswich etc to brisvegas, buggerall speed zone changes... much quicker and easier, but if you go at night, be careful stretching yr fuel stops in NSW !!! the coast road is a shocker if yr in a hurry - believe me... good luch

mate I got one of kevins stage 2 setups - pleased as punch!!! excellent fitting, and instructions supplied, no cutting to install ( one small corner to grind off the bottom rad support when u drop it out... piece of cake, looks the goods. price is bang on for the quality and package, I will probably get one of his intake setups next !!! 327 rwkw as per avie

Process West Plenum/cooler Kit Fitted :)
gmax replied to groper's topic in Engine Management & Fuel Systems
mate... that is a wicked installation, and a great write-up!!! dont tempt me... saving the pennies for a fully forged bottom end, and some serious boost, at this stage!! -
hey gav didnt you get that cooler a few months back, off the forum "for sale"... you beat me to it, that's how I remember !!! seriously looks the goods, I ended up with a process west stage 2, but the AVO was my first choice!!! looks great !!! good job done Gino

the process west unit sits dead square in centre...I was stoked with mine... the stage 2 unit does require that you throw away the inlet horn for the factory airbox... they do a stage 1 also, which keeps plumbing all original also... great quality and worth a look

I had recollection that the GT3 is not 4wd... they are a total weapon, but in a straight line its all about power/weight and traction. I honestly think it would be a toss-up between the 2 cars, down the strip, and yr beast would likely pip him at the post. throw a bend in the equation, though, and the GT3 would be in the next post-code before you knew it!

finally got my car down to sydney for some serious numbers. Jeff and Con certainly know their T's. already had stage 2 process west cooler 698s intank pump(just cant remember what type!) typhoon CAI ASP exhaust enter C and V for one of their tunes and wastegate actuator valve springs siemens squirters the result was 326 at about 14 psi , the car is a weapon now that I have emptied all my crap out the back of the ute... traction is optional -once that boost gets on !!! great job and I am stoked with the ute now!!! recommend the guys at C V, great service, good numbers, and got me in and out on the same day!!

the plumbing is hidden on stage 1 package, mate... doesnt hang down...

You can run anything through anything and get an increase in power. A mate of mine has a 9psi vortech blower on a 95 EF XR8. Car is stock as a rock and went from 127rwkw to 191rwkw. Does this mean that his HO manifold, 55mm MAF, E7 heads and standard cast exhaust manifolds were not restricting his power just because he could run a certain number higher than factory? I'm not having a go at you here, but I've seen and read about people running 330rwkw+ through a stock XR6T exhaust with only mod being a cat. People automatically then assume that the exhaust is not restrictive. Sure it's a great exhaust from factory, but replace said 330rwkw vehicle with factory exhaust to a quality brand unit (APS, Nizpro ect) and watch the power rise with less stress on the engine by pushing the same amount of gasses through larger diamater pipes. The same theroy applies with intercoolers. Just because the monza cooler is fitted to a car making a high level of power, doesn't mean that the cooler is not out of it's efficient operating range. I'd be betting at 350rwkw, if you just changed the cooler alone to a larger quality brand unit, you would see a massive gain. At that power you wouldn't get any lag associated with larger coolers either. Now I'm not having a go at the Monza cooler as I think it's a good value budget replacement cooler. I would just be worried about compromising my engines longevity running high boost levels with a cooler that is out of it's optimal operating capicity just to save a few 100 bucks. ← out of its optimal operating capacity?? show me how?? oh yeah.. aps exhausts... not all they were cracked up to be either ← jeezus.... I ask about AVO coolers, and I have a muppet whinging about APS exhausts... get a grip... give me the facts, not yr washed up opinion on a different subject, or this would have been in the EXHAUST forum... hey, now wouldnt that make sense... get over it...

if you are going to the trouble of changing the rods, why not throw in some better pistons to go with the deal, balance it all... and you are streets ahead. there is no easy way to change the rods in any engine I know of that you will find in a car ( yes, some big industrial stuff will have side access to engine block to loosen rod bolts, but we are talking 50 litre diesels), in short - head off, sump off...you may as well yank it out altogether. my opinion only

Group Buy - Process West Xr6t Stage 2 Intercooler.
gmax replied to Process West's topic in Classifieds & Group Buys
kevin count me in on this... pm me with details or a contact number to get deposit sorted... thanks Gino -
mate from experiences with WRX's I know that anyone buying a modded car knows its been thrashed... and can effect the price you will get. I have always put car back to standard, traded or sold for a better price than a modded one would get ( dealer generally wont touch a modded one!!) then flog off zorst, cooler, flasherbox and whatever u have for a half decent bit of spare change. I will probably do that shortly to my T ute, and the bits can then go onto a tornado... just my 2 cents worth anyway...
