  1. I suppose the one thing I'm trying to find is if it's safe or if I'm gonna have problems with this sort of oil pressure, if it's somewhat common to run this sort of pressure in higher power Barras without issues then I'm comfortable. Unfortunately this is not one of HP junkies full billet pumps just one of their ported stock pumps so as far as I'm aware no other options for springs. I've heard of factory pumps splitting however I'm certain this is due to a lack of porting on the housing and relief circuit. I'm also still running VCT and have heard there can be issues with it with high oil pressure also.
  2. I dont actually think the have another option spring, this is one of their ported factory housings not one of their billet options. The only thing I could imagine could be the issue if it is one really is perhaps the pressure relief valve is stuck.
  3. Peak rpm is likely to be somewhere around 7k (cams suggest 6800rpm) Oil filter is a Ryco Looking to make around 1000 to the tyres
  4. Hi guys I've recently finished building my engine and had it run up on a test cell. Everything has come up pretty solid but one thing I'm a little concerned about is the oil pressure. I'm running a ported horsepower junkie oil pump along with their high pressure relief spring Running 10w40 On cold start we are seeing 100psi @ 1000rpm At roughly 98-100 degrees we are seeing 32psi @ 1000rpm 52psi@ 2000rpm 80psi@ 4000rpm Does anyone think these pressures are to high or common for a Barra with these mods to the oil pump?
  5. Hi guys. I'm in the middle of building my first barra and I'd like some advice To give an idea Im running manley pistons 9.0:1, standard valves and crow cam 3232593/3242593 cams .495 lift, crow cam vtkba6-t 110lb valve springs. The deck has been machined to 0 and I'm using a .040" cometic gasket I used the modeling clay method to check. On the exhaust side I've got roughly .300" clearance due to the piston been fly cut. Moving onto the intake and I'm finding roughly .090" clearance which is due to the intake side not having fly cuts. My question is, does anyone have any experience with the same combination or similar using these specific cams/pistons and was there an issue with P-V clearance? Also, would you be happy with .090" on the intake side? I'm very likely to spin the engine out to 7000rpm and I've never really played with VCT and I'm unsure if this would cause an issue. Cheers
  6. Hey guys. Does anyone know the recommended clearances of a barra oil pump? Looking for backing plate to gears, gear tip and gear to housing. I've looked absolutely everywhere and can't find anything. If it helps I'm using a hp junkie ported standard housing and billet 7175 backing plate with atomic gears. Thanks
  7. I have done the same, drilled out the spot welds and torqued down with the windage tray on top of the girdle but the studs are missing by a thread to the nut. I torqued it back down without the windage tray and the nut sat dead even with the stud. Clearances etc have already been checked and are good. I may look into machining the caps down or possibly not running the windage tray
  8. Thanks gents. @Puffwagon I'm fairly certain I also just read a thread suggesting you had issues with stud height when using an aftermarket girdle? I'm currently running into an issue with an atomic girdle where I don't have enough thread purchase with an arp kit using the windage tray (misses by full purchase by 1 thread) if I remove the windage tray then in golden but I'm not too keen on removing it. Any idea on the fix for this?
  9. Hi guys. I've searched but cannot find the answer. Does anyone know the correct specs for crankshaft end play? I'm running arp race series bearings with 360 degree thrust.
  10. Ok. So remove that and even with the ARP kit we should be golden. Thank you sir
  11. Ahh. I think I know what your talking about. I've heard stories about a random rib at the back of the sump that makes no sense get it's there haha.
  12. Short of going to the Grinder/Dremel path. I going to assume this is rectified by using the atomic main stud kit?
  13. Hey guys I'm curious if anyone might be able to tell me if there are any clearance issues to the sump using an atomic 10mm main cap girdle with an arp main stud kit on a BA series Barra? Thanks guys
  14. Hey guys Is anyone able to confirm if a plazmaman fuel rail will fit with a process west plenum on a ba? I'm assuming it will for the fact that they bolt up to the standard location but want to make sure before I purchase.
  15. Where would you start with the better angle? I have spaced it around 4.5mm and it did seem a little better (although could be a placebo) Where would you cut off your spacing in mm to say "this isn't gonna a work"
  16. I am still running the standard CV to the diff. The thing I'm finding odd is in my experience an unbalanced tailshaft would present itself at higher speeds and you normally wouldn't feel any difference around the 30-40kh/h mark. I might call Hardy Spicer and find out if their centre bearings are a different offset height to standard. Any clue on costs of static balancing?
  17. Does anyone else have an idea on this? I had someone suggest that the centre bearing height on the Hardy Spicer centre bearing could be different to standard and that I might need to space it. I used a few washers to bring it down roughly 4.5mm and it seemed a little better but I wasn't sure if I could keep going on the spacing.
  18. Yeah man, it's rubber mounted. It was in the car previously with no problems at all.
  19. I'm curious if anyone has run into this issue before. I've got a ba xr6T that we've doesn't a c4 conversion on. I recently pulled the box to have it looked at (replaced clutches ect) really just a maintenance sort of thing. We noticed when we pulled the tailshaft that the center bearing was torn, so took it to a reputable drive shaft shop in sydney replace it. While we we're there we replaced 2 Universal's and had it rebalanced. I also replaced my flexplate to a Yella Terra unit while the box was off After all of this I now have a decent vibration especially evident from around 30-40 at light acceleration. I can accelerate through it and not feel it but parking lots ect are pretty horrible. I noticed today after reaching highway speeds that I have a "rumble" accelerating from 60-110 and almost like a pulse (my rear view vibrates to it) when cruising. I had my diff bushes/blade bushes ect replaced a few years ago with super pro gear aswell Any thoughts? I definitely feel like I did everything to avoid any issues like this but yet, here we are haha.
  20. From what I've seen or heard, pro stars fit in an 8x15 5" backspace. But I'm really looking for confirmation 100% of backspace and fitment without any spacers ect from somebody that has fit them onto a ba. They just seem far and few between. I'm also confused if they do fit as to why the wheels I bought don't if they're the same size, width and backspace.
  21. I can't workout how to upload them but here are link to some photos and where it's hitting Hopefully they work
  22. Aaron are we talking on a 15" rim? Mine hit directly on what I'm pretty certain is the trailing arm. I'm unsure how I upload pictures to the forum otherwise I'd be happy to show you where it hits.
  23. Hi guys First of all over done some searching and I'm struggling to find much info on this topic After doing some research, chatting with people ect I bought a set of 15x8 5.5" bs wheels for the rear of my ba xr6 turbo. The issue I'm running into is they foul on the lower control arm and it looks like I'll need at least a 10mm spacer to make then fit which I'm not willing to do. The guys I've previously spoken to both have bfs, or with 15x8 pro stars which he said fit straight on, no spacers,no fouling. The second I spoke to has wheels from the same company purchased from in the same size/backspace but a slightly different style and said he needed 3mm spacers to make them fit without touching the control arm. Is there a difference in rear cradle from ba-bf? I'm curious on other people's opinions on fitting 15s on a ba xr6. What 15s fit, what wheels need spacers ect. I'm especially after opinion from anyone who has put a 15x8" 5.5" backspace pro stars that can confirm they fit directly before I make another purchase and run into issues.
  24. I have already spoken to them, they can suggest flexplate to crank bolts and can ship them with the flexplate but there's too many options for flexplate to converter
  25. Hey guys For anyone who has used a Yella Terra flex plate, I'm curious what arp bolts or part number you used to the torque converter? I've heard of people using standard but I know that Yella Terra suggest a 10mm longer bolt and I would prefer not to use the standard bolts.
