  1. Anyone running the Kayhan V5 model? Tossing up between that and the aerpro thing.
  2. No idea. But if the busted fan blade did it, then the shroud should be damaged as well... Nothing wrong with the shroud All fixed now. Pretty easy job.
  3. Ahh my bad, should have made it clear that it was a problem found when pulling the pipe off. Would be an impressively big fail for the fan to be able to do that 😮
  4. From the fan or the snorkel? Fan is all vibration in the cabin, outside you can hear it a bit. Never noticed any noise from the snorkel.
  5. It is exactly that, cracked blade on one of them. Throws the balance out.. But bugger me.. The vibrations go through the entire car. Also found a hole in the top snorkel... Duct taped that sucker for now... Glad I did the f6 snorkel mod. Obviously not what is causing the good.good.good.good vibrations. But hey... when it rains... it pours.. Considering my mechanic already had to duct tape some of the air hoses around the cross over (rkns not worth the expense to fix the original)... might be time to invest in a turbo side CAI.
  6. Its def the thermo's.... Was carrying on when I got home, turned car off.. Unplugged em... Vibration gone... Plug back in, fans fire up... vibration city. Now to pull em out and see if its a mount or if a fans knackered.. Testing that could be interesting.
  7. Sweet. Might pull out the fan on the weekend and have a look. 37 today and tomorrow. I'm going to be inside hugging my airconditioner 😄
  8. Did the vibrations manifest when the thermos were not on as well?
  9. Hi All, Hoping one of you guys have come across this issue :D My BF2 XR6T Auto Ute seems to have developed an issue that only seems to manifest in 30c+ heat. It started Monday. Drove from home to Star Track in Dandenong, about 20min.. All fine... Temperature went up a little bit, hopped in the car after it was parked in the sun.. Starts no worries, idles fine. Out of nowhere it starts vibrating through the chassis, could feel it through the steering wheel. Cant remember if the thermo fan kicked in straight away... Once I got moving it pretty much stopped vibrating unless I stopped at lights for a bit. Totally forgot about it Tuesday, but the weather way much cooler, might have been 26ish when I drove home.. No dramas, no issues. This morning nice and cool, no issues. Drove to the station sweet as. Get off the train just before 4pm.. Its stinking hot, round 35... Car starts up fine, drive it out of the car park then the thermo fan kicks in. and the vibrations start again. NFI why the thermo is kickiing in when the temp guage isnt even past the first 1/4 from cold... Usually it doesnt kick in till half way. Really odd. Same sorta thing as Monday. When stopped or idle, a process kicks in.. not sure what it is starts to vibrate.. if the thermo fans kick in, it vibrates harder. Only seems to do it when stopped at the lights/idling. So end up going to the pub, after the pub was driving a mate home and paying more attention since we were discussing the issue.. the car was still warmish, below 1/4 mark.. Paying more attention as I was talking to him about it... It was like the autochoke or something kicks in before the vibrations start.. The revs went up slightly. The car isnt cold... and if the thermos kicks boom vibrations get worse.. when moving it seems fine... Temp droped to under 30 when we were standing out the front yacking... Had it idling... no dramas... no thermos kicking in. Drove home and it was fine, was around 26/27c. I tried turning the aircon off, made no difference to the vibrations when it happened. I thought maybe it was power related because of the thermos.. but headlights didnt set it off. Seems its getting confused about the hot air coming in maybe and messing with the idle/fuel mixture or something? It does it in Park/neutral, or in drive and reverse. Moving or stationary. I got no idea. Acceleration seems fine, no loss of power that I noticed. Will be interesting to see if it does it again on the drive to work tomorrow or not. 37c forecast tomorrow so I'm expecting it to play up on the drive home :S Anyone had something similar? Hoping its something easy and cheap to fix.. Hasn't been a cheap few months :S
  10. Allegedly it is a genuine ford alternator. Has the ford label on the box, has the bitsamissin sticker on the alternator... just a non threaded hole.
  11. That PIC is from the the Haynes Online Manual, was just using it as an example. I've got a BF MKII The model number is exactly the same as the old one, except the new one doesn't have a threaded hole for the rear mount bolt.
  12. The Hayes manual has, what I'm assuming is either the BA or FG alternator since the bracket on mine looks nothing like that at the rear.
  13. Hi Guys, I had to replace my alternator since I had powersteering line leak all through it... Huzzzah. I ordered the same model number alternator, that is labelled as being for BF 6cyl onwards, yet the new one does not have a threaded hole for the back mounting bolt. Did the FG's drop the back mount bolt/ Was the design changed? Cant see how the backbolt does a lot, but better to be safe than sorry and ask the question :D
  14. After paying 260 bucks for a mechanic to do this, might have to start doing it myself... My car seems to chew through bloody ball joints.. About a set of lowers a year, was fine when it was covered under warranty lol
  15. Only negative, and I'm clutching, is it sprays dirt and stuff along the rear a lot more since the rears stick out a little. I've never had it rub that I know of on the guards. I dont carry heavy loads though, just my fat arse. It's still within the guards, just though.
  16. Need to fix that powresterring line first :s Fun fun
  17. Noticed on the weekend I have a powersteering line leak... So its possible its that old chestnut... Fluid leaking right in to the alternator... stupid design that :S
  18. I do need to buy a new multimeter, guess there is an excuse. So specifically, I'm assuming hit the positive terminal with the red wire, but earth it where?
  19. How does one do that safely? Playing with electricity is scary.. Probably a side effect of being an idiot when I was a kid and trying to yoink a fuse out of a live street light.... anywaaaaaay.... THe KVT-7012BT is a US model, so the DVD player is locked to Region 1 (havent looked to unlock) and AM steps are different. 774 works for the cricket so all good, but its not bang on 774, its 770 I think. Pioneer have a single din unit as well, but the android integration in it is inferior from what I read. There are a bunch of android based units on fleabay, but they didnt meet my requirements with hands free and what not... If you dont care about that, you can literally run torque off the head unit which is kinda awesome. Yeah it gets in the way a bit, but the temperature is easy to get to and once its on I rarely change the setting other then temp. Its not a big deal to hit the retract button on the screen though. I never speed officer.... *cough*
  20. Yeah I imported a Kenwood KVT-7012BT 7" LCD jobby from the states, gives me full mirrorlink control with my android phone. Can run torque, forscan etc.. all from the screen. http://imgur.com/a/h6OWy Back on topic.. :D Seems to be a few threads here with coil pack issues around the 200k mark, im around 176k so heading in to that territory. Of course being an old school car owner previously, I had to google what a coil pack was... Explains why im missing a dizzy and some spark plug leads :D I do love owning a ford again over an imported toyota though... Alternators cheap... coil pack sets, unless you go the Weapon X ones (which looks like arent worth it) arent terrible either.
  21. Anyone tried the Venom muffler delete for the BF utes? Sounds pretty good: Also a bit more pricey compared to what others have paid, looks like they put a bend in though so perhaps less drone? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VENOM-Ford-BA-BF-Mild-Steel-twin-2-5-Sedan-Straight-Pipes-Muffler-Delete-/282049439992?hash=item41ab74e8f8:g:UFMAAOSwvg9Xbh9B
  22. Its the whole lot too, when my speedo did that I flicked torque on my head unit and it wasnt getting data for the speedo at all, had to use Waze for GPS speed.
  23. Funny, I think the same.. If I let the car power up all the accessories then crank her it seems fine. The battery is about 2yr old, wonder if there are other tests I can do on the alternator. Only does it on start up. If it doesnt fault on start, it all good.
