In my XF which is sad to say the least I use ULP of course but im pissed because my old man EB XR-8 with extractors,exhaust, some breathing mods and an optimised 98RON computer gets better economy @115-120 than I do @80-90!

Another thingy I just remember hearing:The BP Ultimate is a better fuel because it is lower in sulphur than Optimax,Evolution etc.This apparently keeps your Catalytic Convertor happier for longer and other similar things.

This sorta thing sounds like my cousins GTR suffers from.It bangs the Rev limiter really fast in the lower gears and it then bangs the speed limiter (180kph) pretty soon after.Turbo rush is good.Just need a XR6T now to experience it often. That variable red line thing is based on what, engine temp,driving conditions,throttle???

My old man cruises in a lightly modded(210KW)EB XR-8.He's finally decided to buy his first new car in 69years.He couldn't help but drop into our local Ford Dealer and have a look at the new BA.He's deeply in thought bout getting a new'n and likes the sound of a 5.4L but I want the bas*ard to get a T.Im slowly turning him,my main reasons(pleads)are all that power from dot,upgradability,it can still come in Blood Orange and all the money still left over for leather,premium sound,premium brakes,sunroof.He also likes the fact that its such a fast little bugger. Are there any other reasons I can use to convince him?

Isn't the manual in the XR6T not up to the Torque of the 8,which is why the XR8 and GT has been reported to have a far better shift.From memory the superseeded Maserati 3200 Twin-Turbo Auto was the BTR unit from the Falc and with the fact that the BA was upgraded with the SSS etc it should be more than up to the torque.

Im pretty sure that even though you dont a get noticeable performance increase between even ULP and say Optimax because the 98 RON runs cleaner(It has a detergent in it)it is very good to use in a new car as it doesnt gunk up with all sorts of crap.Same way as using good oil and crap oil will affect the longeivity of an engine.
