Capa Kits
It may be interesting, and im not particularly bagging anyone, as their are different approaches to various issues, I am simply stating the facts as I see them.

Capa Kits
I cant really give one considering that my setup consists of parts of the CAPA kit + the Unichip.

Transmission For Modded Cars
The C4 auto transmission is defintely an option for those that intend on taking their cars to the strip, and dont mind a compromise in driveability. Such an upgrade would involve a hi-stall convertor, upgraded clutches, full manual valve body conversion, strengthened input shaft, and numerous other bits and pieces to strengthen the transmission. The compromise is that you have 3 gears rather than 4, and a increase in fuel consumption due to the looser torque convertor. Shifts would also be much harsher, but significantly quicker to boot. Expect to pay $5000 or more for a trans capable of taking the punishment. The C4 auto that will be used in my drag 200SX (www.200SEX.com.au) cost well over this but is rated to handle 900hp and 700nm of torque so you get the idea what can be done with these things. Obviously this option will not suit everyone, especially some of the 'softies' that seem to worry about their precious warranties

Capa Kits
PS.. I had Croydon Racing Developments install and tune the unichip management solution, but kept the rising rate regulator in absence of a fuel injector solution at that point of time. The end result was 265kw @ the wheels at 9psi, definitely favourable to 225kw @ 11psi one would think..

Capa Kits
I had the 9psi CAPA kit installed onto my ute. The kit consisted of a water-injection kit, intercooler water spray, boost box, additional fuel pump, rising rate regulator and a few other bits. I ended up not using the water injection kit because I have had an issue with one of the CAPA water injection kits in the past. Esssentially the end of the crimped plastic delivery hose cracked causing a large amount of water to be injected into the cylinders and it was very lucky that my engine didnt hydraulic lock. After all water isnt all that compressible.. Anyhow the kit made 225kw at the wheels using 11psi of boost, which is really not up to the task. The boost box in the system simply fools the computer into believing that its running stock boost. The boost box cannot modify the ignition timing, and this is the reason that 11psi is required to create the 225kw result, as the ignition timing was too retarded. The CAPA system also uses the rising rate regulator and a bleed system to alter the fuel delivery of the stock fuel system which is obviously required in order to supply the required extra fuel. This system is also quite crude and does not compare with a properly engineered solution comprising larger injectors and appropriate engine managment control. Make a wise decision people..

Modification Options
I remember warning everyone very clearly right at the start about these guys, but no one listened to me.

Final Drive Ratio's
Its a myth that certain driveline components are good for X amounts of kilowatts. All driveline components are rated for TORQUE not POWER, TORQUE is the only thing that matters.

How Much Power Do You Want
Peter, Do you have any details regarding this twin turbo commodore? I assume that you would plan a kit for it, or already be working on something in the back of your mind..

Modification Options
Motec arent exactly renowned for giving too much of a stuff about the everyday owner. They are really focussed on racing applications so dont expect any plug in beauty any time soon..

Xr6t......300kph
The thing is, you can have as much power as you want, but at higher speeds coefficient of drag (wind resistance) has much more influence on the top speed than the amount of pwoer the car has. As power increases the top speed will increase, but in a diminishing returns, almost logrithmic fashion..

Xr6t......300kph
I usually am PS.. try avalon airport, or if that doesnt work, just wind er up down the princess highway on the way to geelong, its a very nice road for high speed testing, trust me on this..

Bonnet Scoop
It wouldnt be going anywhere near my bonnet, but that's just my view. Good work on having a go however, but I suggest that the design is rather poo like

How Much Power Do You Want
Chris, The $1080 would be for the injectors only, plus installation of the injectors unichip and dyno tuning/mapping work would be another $480 approx, there is a fair amount of time to do the mapping work with the larger injectors, and auto cars take longer to map than manual cars. These prices are based on a doing a stock car, if the car has lots of other mods then the time frame will be longer and the cost higher.Your price forumla makes sense and on that basis the PHASE1 and PHASE1.5 provide the best bang for buck. There is no doubt that higher power levels cost more on the Kw per dollar basis though this has always been the case and its unlikely to change into the future. IN any event thanks for your feedback and I trust that we can assist you in the near future. PETER APS I find this quite interesting given the conversation that we had just yesterday..

Xr6t......300kph
I would suggest 280km/h, I assume that you have removed the speed limiter? I also assume you are testing at a private venue

Aps Phase 4 Xr6t Spotted & Photographed
They covered it under warranty this time..

Aps Phase 4 Xr6t Spotted & Photographed
Unfortunately I do not have a picture, I had the problem fixed yesterday by Ford under warranty. I have been told if it occurs again it will not be covered under warranty as they think the extra torque is the root of the problem. I must say that I didnt really do too much out of the ordinary, other than a few burnouts and full power launches here and there, but I would have thought it could handle that ?

Big Brakes Anyone!
17's are the go, having more market penetration than 18's. A suggestion is to include upgraded front rotors, front calipers, front pads, rear pads, braided lines and appropriate fluid (dot 5.1). I would also recommend making sure that they dont cost anymore than something you could get from Ford spare parts..

Devil Racer's Xr6.
If he owned it is probably worth less because he would have flogged the guts out of it..

Aps Phase 4 Xr6t Spotted & Photographed
Mine was a March 03 build, delivered in April, so it doesnt quite go back that far

Injectors And Fuel Pump
Are these the same injectors that APS is using? How much are the injectors and are they anything special? Thanks, Kris.
