    Fpv Brakes

I didn’t really want to upgrade, I'm sure the standards brakes are up to the task, just to maintain the same type of brakes. There were a lot of comments regarding the same thing Im talking about, at one of the FPV launches I went to recently.

    Fpv Brakes

Hi Guys Looking at the standard brakes on the FVP range, the fronts are Brembos callipers and the rears just seem to be the standard type. Personally I think its looks unfinished, a little cheap not to fit Brembos all round, using smaller callipers. I know there’s the brake upgrade to 6 pistons on the front, and 4 pistons on the rear for about 4-5K. But without spending the big bucks, dose anyone know if you can get a single or 2 piston callipers for the rear, to maintain the racy look?
  4. Wow, that’s a good price, the best quote I’ve got so far for an F6 is 61K, before GST and dealer deliver, with no extras and that was based on buying two of them, from the same dealer. How did you get that so cheap?
  5. Hi Guys Not sure if this has been talk about before, seriously looking at the F6, but it doesn’t seem to be much quicker then the XR6T. A friend of mine has driven both cars and his comments about the XR6T; it’s very quick off the mark, where the F6 seems to have more top end power, because of different gearing. The XR6T and the GE6T has done 13.1 ¼ mile, but the F6 doesn’t seem to be any quicker. Track tests show the F6 only just beats the R8 and not much quicker then the GT. I would have thought at least a second quicker, then the V8s. Considering the XR6T with heaps of extras is 50-55K, with out fleet discount and the F6 is 65k, before you add anything. From a performance and handling point of view, is it worth the extra cost when the performance doesn’t seem to be much better for 70k plus drive away. It’s a very sexy machine, but it’s also got a big price tag to go with it. What do you guys think?
  6. Probably closer to 2800rpm, I just about have to stand in the brakes to stop the wheels spinning
  7. Autotech tuned the car, which I found they always do a top job. The more I think about, it seems to be a fuel issue. I’m running an APS fuel pump, but they still use the factory fuel pump in series, so the factory one may be getting lazy at top end. That may explain the pinging?
  8. Thanks Senna I will look into it. I think the biggest problem is the launch, there seems to be plenty of power and speed, just getting it off the line is my let down. It’s a Ute if I didn’t mention it, so no traction control and not much weight in the rear end. Not sure when we are running again, it’s a work thing, so I will go out when the boys are ready. I will let you know when we run again and thanks for the advice. It’s a white Ute, lowered with Typhoon wheels, XR8 bonnet and a hand cover on the rear, so it stands out, should be easy to spot. Were you on street tyres or slicks when you ran that time?
  9. Sorry guys, but what is a surge tank? I had about half a tank of fuel, it was BP 98.
  10. I cant find the time slip but it was about 115MPH. The 60ft was about 2.2
  11. I cant see how the F6 is slower then the XR6T. Sounds like they cant drive it. Nobs!
  12. Hi Guys Ran my car at WSID the other week and the best result was 13.1. I was on street tyres and there was next to no wheel spin. Stalled it to about 3000RPM, which may not be enough. Its an 4 speed auto BTW. Pretty disappointed at that time considering I'm running a phase three with 315 ATW at my disposal. I’m going back in a couple of weeks, so I’m looking for some tips. Dose that sound right on street tyres and will semi slicks make that much difference? One thing I noticed was the car started pinging just before the ¼ line, so I may have a fuel supply issue. What do you guys think?
  13. Hi Guys I have been told from a reliable source, the F6 did 0-100 in 4.7 seconds, but the person driving the car, was test driving the car for six months, during the final development and calibration period. I can’t name the person, but he is a well know racing car driver. So considering if you know how to drive the thing, it’s very possible to crack that 4 second bracket. That’s an amazing car straight out of the box!! Go Ford
  14. Yes confirmed today, 15inch wheels don’t fit over the rear breaks, but there are so close! So my plan is using custom made wheels, with Ford centres and a high inside rim, welding the centres further out to allow for the brake callipers. I will keep you posted when I come up with a solution. Micksta
  15. That’s what I’m planing on doing; Mickey Thompson’s are a lot cheaper in 15’s. As far as I know, there’s no 15 inch wheels for the BA's, but there are 15’s for the AU’s. I guess the main question is, what size breaks are on the rear of the AU’s and are they the same on the BA’s? Micksta
  16. Thanks F6BF
  17. Hi guys Just a quick question, can you fit 15 inch wheels on the rear of a BA falcon Ute? Has anyone fitted them? Micksta
  18. Are you talking about the current tune or the 330kw tune? What power are you running to get your time?
  19. Hi guys Taking my car to the creek in a couple of weeks and just wondering what sort of times to expect? I’m running an APS phase three with the Edit, modified box and oil coolers for the box and engine, putting out about 310-315 ATW. It’s a 4 speed auto Ute and just using street tyres. I keep the power low; because it’s just reach 100k on the clock, so I don’t want to kill the thing. It’s going in for a service and retune at Autotech on Monday, so I was also wondering how much more power I get squeeze out of her, before reliability becomes and issue? I was thinking about the 330KW. What sort of times did you think I can achieve with both powers levels? I haven’t had a lot of experiance with drag racing, and considering the Ute don’t have traction control, it will be very interesting. Cheers
  20. Hi Guys Dose anyone have any info on the new model Typhoon coming out this year? I’m looking at trading my XR6T to a Typhoon, and I wanted to find out, if the new model is running the same engine configuration. Word is, it will be a V6 twin turbo. I’m running a phase three, and I was thinking about waiting for the new model to come out. But I still love the BF and can use all the parts I have now, on the current model. Dose anyone know what ECU they are using, and can the capa flash be used on the new model? Cheers Mick
  21. Hi guys Some of you may have read a post of mine about back in October last year, about getting booked twice by the cops when I wasn’t speeding on the way to the snow. After a very frustrating and expensive fight I had to give up. I would have got more satisfaction with banging my head against the wall!!! Unfortunately it’s a one-way system, set up to protect the cops and keep the money rolling in! So in my endeavor to find away to protect my self, I found a device called Track stick pro, it’s a GPS device that’s tracks and logs you every 5 sec, showing speed, point to point location, time, date, etc. You can down load the info to Google earth and its show all the details with a time line format. Its no bigger then a mobile phone and is powered through the cigarette lighter. It’s a cheap device around $260.00 Australian and may be the edge you need when fighting these speeding fines in court. It’s highly used by law enforcement, emergency services and fleets in the states and has been used in court with wining results. It’s a shame we need to do this, but while we have cowboys for cops and equipment that fails, we have to keep them honest. So for those of you that want some type of proof of your speed, you can check out the web site. Trackstickpro.com Cheers Micksta
  22. Interesting post. I asked the cops for the video footage, which I was told – no problems we will send it to your local police station for you to view it. I have now been told I’m not allowed to see it, because its part of the pricy act and its for police viewing only. (Bull sh*t)! It seems they have something to hide, because why would they say that, when the reason the cameras were installed in the cars, is to confirm what happen for both party’s? It seems that these cops will try any tactic to book people.
  23. I’m actually considering mounting a camera in the car and GPS tracking, but both is not a cheap option and finding a GPS unit that will do that isn’t easy. The ironic thing is, that I will go to all this trouble to protect myself and it will proberly never happen again.
  24. [Hi Micksta, I'm in the same sinking boat. I got booked twice by the same cop, same car over 4 weeks for exactly the same speed 75km in a 60k zone, both 60k zones were once 80km zones one up a hill one down a hill, I was in ex chaser still with speedo check stickers still visable. my kids were with me & like there mother love to quote the digital speedo reading. They both said it was on 65km/ph. The officer took great pride in letting me know it was 75km but would be booking me for under 15km which now in this sh*t hole state is the same amount of points as over 15km. I also hadn't been booked for speeding for 7 or so years (got booked for turning left on red signal in Feb) which in my work that's about 1,400,000km of work related travel, so thinking O well I'll let it go, but 4 weeks later it happens again but on a double demerits Monday! Now I have no points left & looking at loosing my house, buisness & my mind. Since then I spoke to a excop mate who informed me of a trick they use it goes like so.. If working in a 60km zone get a lock from a 80km zone at 75km/ph so then you can still look at you radar getting a speed of oncoming vehciles, then for example someone is doing 65km/ph you pull them over tell them they are doing 75km/ph but being Mr Good Guy you will book them for under 15km instead of over 15km/ph, Driver says that can't be right I was doing 65km/ph, then they say have a look at the screen (that had been locked at 75km/ph earlier). So it's court for me to try & save my lively hood with not much chance of winning. I radars should have a time of lock on them to avoid this from happening. Good luck with your attempt. Muzza. ← That’s interesting Muzza I have a suspicion that the read out on the radar was from the last car the cops booked. So I will be summonsing the early infringement to court. The other three times I was booked the cops had sirens on before I relized they were cops. On the third occasion the cops went past me and were nearly out of my sight before they turn around and chased me. Its strange that it took them that long before they worked out I was speeding! I thought they just giving me a breath test. I asked them to clock me again, with one of them in the car to prove the radar was wrong and they weren’t interested. Its not as if they didn’t have time, I wonder why they wouldn’t do it, somthing to hide? I makes me wonder how the radars work- for example two vehicles coming towards each other at 100kms, the radar reads 100 and the cops are doing 100, there for the radar cancels out the two readings, but if one vehicle is doing 124, there a residual of 24. So what speed were the cops doing? Go luck with court Muzza
