DIFF CLUNK - Combined Approach
JB I offered a solution here -" XR6 Turbo - Losing Faith & Paitence, Ford service - simply pathetic".. I am not unsympathetic to members issues but as an individual we are up against the proverbial wall.. You will note Dallas took action on our behalf but was not supported... If we are to make change we need to persue them en masse, virtually and unfortunatly to the gates of insanity or death...

DIFF CLUNK - Combined Approach
Problem is JB I have owned fords for my last 3 cars and each one has had it's own problems - vibrations, things not working etc. with which I got no satisfactory results from dealers or manufacturer.... Yet I went out and bought a ford again... So you are right, if I expect any better quality service (or quality car) from ford this time round I would consider myself an idiot... They say the definition of insanity is doing exactly the same thing over and over and expecting a different result everytime... I have offered a solution on another thread and am learning to live with what I believe is an outstanding motor vehicle that unfortunatly does clunk occasionnally.... I am fortunate enough to be in a position to trade up in 18 months and yes it will probably be a ford.....

Home/.....slow
Was a more interesting drive home tonight,... Left the cruise control on speed limit.... Had a coupla hundred dickheads in there datsuns with nizbro stickers on them and chopped off springs drive around me and harrass me... I ignored and they flew off at disgusting speed raced by marvels in SS's and such forth... Went past one punter who put his VL Turbo into the wall at the Ipswich turnoff and he was surounded by his colleages in there Nizbro - unichap fat muffler chopped spring 4 cylinder boop boxes... All these geniuses have bought a 10,000 dollar car... Spent a few bucks on cheap mod's specifically for power and then jam them down the gateway.. Was more dragen than the local constabulary could keep up with.. Then some dude in a god knows what with the sticker on the back window saying CHIPPED - number plate DRAGIN ...and a tailfin higher than the roof by about a foot drives by me and starts swerving, revving the engine flashing the lights etc... I sit back collected after my chastizen the other day and say Nah... fukit.... He finds a punter in a SS ute, stickered (plastered) by a local GC tuner and off they go.. Straight past another poor mazda (yes you guessed it chipped and tuned sticker on back window) who follows... I aint got no radar but at speed limit I can estimate the double tonne or close to it.... Scotty here sits back and thinks damn I got a baggin for doing some solitary sprint early AM and had to spend a week apologising.... And then pass another poor punter who has put his (yes you guessed it chipped 4T) into a bridge.... what a night.. WHat a drive home. .AHere I am watching idiots in datsuns and hyudia's with mod's risking life and limb in heavy traffic.. And half the locals here bag me for cruising(yes cruising) high speed in a unmodified car I paid 40,000 dollars for on good road in good weather... I might add tonight on the gateway it was raining(drizzle) whilst this was going on... I drive my car responsibly, I do not modify a car beyond it's capability.. And yet I am the idiot.. I wonder how many readers of this site profitted by selling the hardware and software that goes into these datsuns of dubious origon and put them in the hands of 20 year olds.,...... Dont bag me for driven a class car fast... Lets look at the people modifying heaps of sh*t for anyone as long as they got the money.... This site promotes modify cars.. Yet not speed.... Tell that to the teenagers who are wrapping themselves up in concrete barriers...

Losing Faith & Paitence
It might pay to add that you have forwarded a copy of the letter to Fair Trading.. Do not forward to the MTA as they have absolutely no power over warrenty issues unless they are faulty workmanship by a mechanic employed by ford that you have paid for... That is why they are reluctant to do anything. It was interesting that I once persued a warrenty issue on a fairmont through the MTA and was brushed off due to the fact that it was not a repair but a warrenty issue.. I then went to the department of fair trading and weeks later got to speak to the manager of the motoring and warrenty section and get this (Exactly the same guy I had been talking to at the MTA answers the phone) - He says he know about my dilema and will forward a response... The response he forwarded was excatly the same response (virtually word for word) I got from the dealership.... Keep in mind the MTA is funded by car dealers and repairers... Why is someone employed by the dealerships and repairers a manager at Fair Trading....Hmmmmm... There is a system in place to protect the manufacturers and half measures will not crack the code... Maybe someone needs to be employed to research our position.. If enough people threw in a few bucks we could then seek proffesional guidance... Ford rely on the fact that no-one is going to spend $50,000 trying to get a $45,000 car fixed properly and even a few grand will probably get the repairs done anyway.... They will keep putting up hoops to jump through till an individual gets pissed off with it and gives up.... Unless it is a safety issue then they will bend over backwards to do anything and everything to placate you.... Safety is big money for Lawyers and even Ford do not want to mess around on that platform... Good luck and keep us posted.........

Losing Faith & Paitence
Perhaps we need to locate a suitable person with enough leverage at ford customer relations and flood them en-masse with ongoing unresolved issues - Perhaps someone with spare time could read the entire factory warrenty statute and highlight applicable sections which will need tro be quoted when we issue a class action against FMC... All corespondance should be CC'ed to one person at consumer watchdogs and fair trading.. We should also locate and peruse the contract a dealership has with Ford and what it's obligations are... This section would make class action against dealerships a reality if in anyway they are breaching.. Remember - Everything is under Regulations, Mandates, Codes of Practices and Contractual Agreements and should be pointed out to those responsible.. However it is not worth a cracker unless it can be backed up by facts.... If we can distribute those facts umongst ourselves we are then armed with tangible arguments to initiate a positive proceeding.... If anyone feels the time has come to make a change then do so... Action and work is required and the folks at Ford probably just hope no-one could be bothered going the extra 5 yards to make it happen..... Worth a look into if you are that frustrated....

DIFF CLUNK - Combined Approach
Ahhh.. Peak hour traffic.. Now I understand.. Trying to drive Clunk free in peak hour whether the gateway or milton road would drive me absolutely insane... I sit in that traffic and wonder why I bought a manual T in the first place,, It's not till I get to some open road do I remember.. Glad you are getting a new diff hope it is under warrenty.. Talking to a guy (anonymous) yesterday with a 2004 GT who is getting his second motor and third diff in the next few weeks under warrenty... Ford doesnt know he is on his 4th set of rear tyres though... Sitting in heavy traffic I start reviewing the reasons I bought a T.... They are definately not built for that.. I will further say that is only my opinion and not those reflected of this site or any site or member who is affiliated here or elsewhere in the event that undue discomfort be caused upon any person or persons whether living or dead, directly involved or intending to be involved in / or around beit now or some time in the future or past etc, etc etc........ ( I am being watched apparently)

DIFF CLUNK - Combined Approach
I could drive you round for a week in my clunker and you wouldn't hear a clunk I I drove to avoid it.... If you drove it, it might clunk.. I am sorry you have a clunk but more sorry it irritates you.... I wish I could contribute to ford removing the clunk, but hey.. We are in Iraq killing people just to get petrol to drive these things.... They really are high quality problems hey.....

DIFF CLUNK - Combined Approach
The Manual I drove was 67km's and it had clunk.. I paid the money and knew there was a fair chance of clunk....The motoring (wheels/ motor) magazines was <1500km's and it had clunk.. My driving technique has eliminated the clunk..... The lucky ones dont have clunk but probably will oneday.... You make it sound like you are stuck with these things foreva.... Dont like it.. Cut your losses and by a typhoon ( Minus the clunk of course).. Cars are unfortunatly disposable... Comodities of an open international market.. Just like pork ribs.... If you dont like the pork..... become Jewish..........

DIFF CLUNK - Combined Approach
Funny...haha.. I read motoring magazines and also wheels test of the car before I purchased.. I also talked to 2 owners and all said exactly the same thing... Diff / driveline noise in the manual.. All parties where concerned how the vehcle would sound after 80,00k's... Fortunately several vehicle have passed that mark and are still going strong.. I knew about the noisey driveline I nthe manual T and still purchased knowing exactly what it would sond like (they compared it to a 1980's muscle car) and really I am still happy with what I got.. Rememeber this car is in evolution stage and improvements will be made... Howver if you want what they got on offer now... Pay the money.. Drive the b**ch and enjoy... If I have gone over any ground already covered I will admit I havent read the other 200 posts.... Only the first whinge... If you bought the car without any research then I say suffer.. If you cant handle driveline noise trade it on a fairmont.... or turn the sterio up.... WHat do you think you get for 40 grand these days....

Should A Turbo Fairmont Or Fairlane Be Available?
I traded a BA fairmont in on the T and sometimes miss the fairmont for comfort.... But there is always a comprimise... Fairmont rode soft and was quitened in the exhaust... If I had of had the chance to put the T motor in the fairmont I feel I would be looking at spitting myself somewhat of the bitumen.... without trying.... Maybe horses for courses applies here....

First Week With A Mkii 6-speed T
Maybe traction control.. Pisses me off around roundabouts etc. Have even had it cut in pushing it hard along the gateway in 4th gear round bend uneven surface... either drops revs of ( feels like it is missing momentarily on 2 cylinders) or cuts breifly... Told my dealer about it and he said/.... Scotty... Take the traction control off and it will be a whole new car... And it was... Have hit the rev limiter and it felt entirely different....

Load Buzz From Abs Unit
I took my '02 fairmont to the snow last year before I had the T and one day heading up the mountain from Jindy it was absolutely hammering down with snow.. Had to fit chains to drive and had the rear wheel traction control working hard, also some very interesting high speed braking and cornering on Icy surfaces sold me on the ABS.... Could put the foot flat on the gas, then flat on the brakes and very little wheel spin or lock.... Played around so much coming back down that day when conditions where even worse.. (Cars spat of the road everywhere) the fairmont impressed me with it ability to respond to the situation... and maintain driveability even though at times it was in the hands of the gods.... I believe the traction control was the type that works by mechanically decelerating the wheel as opposed to the type in the T that reduces the throttle volume... All in all was a crash course in technology and very handy to know.. Later in that year I hit unexpected ice on the way up to hotham and I knew exactly what to expect and the car saved my ass without any radical manouvering whatsoever... I continued up the mountain over several more patches and found the control very predictable.... Would have appreciated a manual though for that extra control of the back end and more finite control of the rear wheels...
