Ok so 15W-40 is recommended for my BA2 XR6T but my mechanic puts in Fuchs 10W-30 which is recommended for the BA2 XR6 N/A. He said I supposed to get better fuel economy. Is he on drugs or am I supposed to get better fuel economy. Std engine with 6 speed manual and get 280km out of 34 litres of Shell Premium 95.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help - I went to Hardie and they did a driveway test - He just drove up and down and said the light clunking was normal or could even be the back of the gearbox - WTF - No mention of diff bushes but they said to bring it back and they will put on the hoist cos it was 4.30pm and they were ready to go home I went to Ford earlier and got quoted 3 bushes $230 - Told him I only had the car for 5 days and must have got a dodgy RWC and he the felt sorry for me and gave me trade $200 - Fulcrum was $360 and Pedders $360 - All 3 places quoted 4 hours labour at $880 - FYI - On eGay the Bayford have 3 Ford ones for $170, the 3 Superpro Comforts are only $210 free delivery and a guy has the new Nolathane centre bush and will install all up for $450 - He's about 2,000 km from Townsville though - Oh Nolathane has limited lifetime warranty now to the original owner of the new style bush - I have been told to talk to the taxi guys cos they used to run BA's and will have changed a few in their time Regarding the tailshart, Hardie do it out of the car - It was my mates 05 Territory that was charged $750 to replace all the parts and balance but the vibration was still there at 100 kph - Went back for another rebalance for free but still got the vibration - Went back to Ford and for $100 they did the tailshaft balancing but they did it in car and have sensors attached all round and sense vibrations and use clip on weights - Hardie said for $1,500 they can build me a new one - Think he said a Cro-Moly one would be $2,500 Once again, I have learnt so much in the last few days and really appreciate all your input - Thanks guys

Found I had a very light clunk (clunk can be heard but not felt) in the rear when changing down gears at low speed and thought it the clutch playing up but now hardie spicer want to change the centre bearing/cv in the alloy tailshaft for $750 and pedders want to change the diff bushes for $1,300- does this sound right or am I getting ripped ???

it prob will be the centre bearing/cv in the alloy tailshaft or the diff bushes - I'm getting quotes of $3,000 to fix both - how many km and how hard has it been driven - is it manual as my 6 speed makes a soft clunk when engaging gears.

I prefer manual over auto cos of the rarity and I think a sportier feel when driving along the highway and round corners. Pain in the a** though in the city and yeah I get a bit of drive line snatch at low speed. Think Ford did it on purpose so the clutch would last longer. I was going to get a FG G6E but not sure why it doesn't have LSD. Does the auto not need it. I ended up with a BA2 XR6T 6 spd manual instead for half the price and more $$$s for mods later on.

Thanks senna_T and MX Dave - Advice is much appreciated - Cars done 98,000 km and think its the original clutch - No mods yet so will stick with the factory flywheel and read on here the Exedy was the "best" standard type clutch to buy - Think it has 55% more clamping force - The 300kW mods ie 60lb, walbro and tune will be later - Townsville lost its Drag Strip recently and working there for 3 years I've seen worse attitudes and lots of money spent on mods that don't work - Too bad you other 3 couldn't offer your advice about standard clutches first hence why I haven't posted in 1 year, 9 months and 1 day

Hey men, how many km's does the AVERAGE factory clutch get ??? I mean a normal person driving stock std and no bs 3000-4000 rpm drop clutch takeoffs. Car has 98k on the clock and no tow bar. Light squirts off the line only usually popping clutch in at 60 kph the rolling or flooring in second gear and rolling to 100 kph. Has done 30k in 3 years and missus drives like a pussy. Also reading when the time comes if not a Mal Wood 3 for $1,500 the only other to buy is an Exedy for $600 ??? This correct. Cheers. p.s I've been a member for over 1 year and never posted cos of the bs and attitude I have read. I am 39 yo and drive NORMAL. If racing I take off at 2000 rpm max and use second gear to hammer. All stock but will look at basic mods soon and am aware of the rod/piston weakness. Also anyone here from Townsville cos all we have is the V8 GT club and alot of Late model camira wankers. (Commodores are OK just their drivers)
