I'm talking about all dunlop "performance" tyres. The SP3000's are the worst of the lot, and the sport maxx are OK but no where near as good as similar priced alternatives.

That is completely fked... Punish the people who work hard to get ahead in life, and give to the dole bludgers or non hard workers of this country... Governments like this one don't encourage people to move up in their careers, they punish them for doing it, can't wait for the libs to get back into power.

The dunlops that come on the XR6T's are one of the most pathetic tyres available. They have very little dry or wet grip capabilities, and a large amount of tyre roar. Let's also not forget to mention the previous days of splitting, cracking and bubbleing Dunlops a large number of us had problems with. Howsee, there isn't much available in the true performance range for a 17" wheel. I ended up buying all sorts of tyres till I settled on some Michelin Pilot Preceda 2's. The wet/dry grip capabilities of this tyre is absolutely brilliant, with great life and minimal noise @ ~$250 a corner you won't get a better tyre for your 17's. If you do want better you'll need to upgrade to 18's. The only downside is that they don't take track punishment well, after 8 or so laps they heat up and loose a lot of their grip. They are fine after a cool down. Unless you drive the same on the road as on the track (and you'll be an idiot for doing so), you will not face this problem.

He is over at Picnic Point, and the job usually takes about 3 or so hours. He does have alternative options though, so best to give the man a call

Not bad at all. What a great website too I'd pick the G Series Turbo if I was in the market for a decently equipped Ford. Can't wait to see what FPV bring out. Just a shame they decided to match Expensive Daewoo with the power outputs. No doubt VE2 will have higher outputs and Ford will be behind again.

I found out about it in November 2006 Put an order in as soon as VW Aus acknowledged it was comming here back in June 07... I'm just over the moon knowing there is one in Australia, and that it's on VW's website finally. Means I'll finally be back behind the wheel driving all the twisty roads and tracks I love so much, which is what I've been missing most of all

Rotors and pads won't do much if at all to increase fade resistance. Like you, I found this out the hard way on a track (wakefield) with smoking DBA4000's and Bendix Ultimate (later Ferodo Formula) pads. Bigger rotors and pads are the only effective way to increase fade resistance. I made sure my second XR6T had the premium brake option (BA model) and there was hardly any fade noticeable on track days. You can get the same kit for a bit over 1k + fitting, the manufacturer is PBR.

I was told the car didn't have a carbon canister, in any case that's a no. I fixed it by selling it

I had this issue on my car for about 18 months, it was driving me nuts. It only happened after a trashing, or on a hot day. If the aircon was on in recycled mode I couldn't smell it, but if it was on fresh air or I had the window open it would stink. I managed to replicate it a few times infront of the dealer, but they couldn't find the source after looking at it around 9 times. From memory the fuel pump, pressure regulator, lines, filter were all replaced with no sucess.

This happened to my 04 a lot. Another member here ran a multimetre over the whole cars electrical system however he couldnt find the source of the leak. I got so sick of the NRMA call outs and / or having to start my car every day so I replaced the battery. Problem solved. Ford told me it's not the battery, bla bla standard, bla bla...

I wonder how much it costs the NSW government to keep 30+ HWP cars parked at the Patricks wharfes.... I can see a massive drop in traffic related fines over the next week.

They would be the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. They are a semi slick tyre, that directly competes with the Pirelli Corsa, however not recommend for wet weather. They are also standard tyres on the M3 CSL and a few other road legal race cars. What you would want is the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's, these are the tyres standard on Porsche Carerra GT, 911 Turbo, Bugatti Veyron, Konisegg CCX, McLaren SLR and a whole host of other supercars. Simply put there is no dry/wet road tyre better than the PS2. Of course this reflected in the price @ $620 a corner for 18" wheels.
