Jap Imports
First point - it's not the cars I have no respect for. The cars are fine, it's the fact that I absolutely LOATHE to see our money going to the Japs!!! There are reasons for my stand on this which don't need to be canvassed here - just accept it as a fact. Second point - a Grange? Really?? Poor bugger!! A friend, well acquaintance, of mine had one. A real Expensive Daewoo nut. Reckoned in the end it was the worst POS he'd ever owned. That was until he bought a new SS last month and it's been off the road for six days already. ECU problems - driving along and it just stops - call the truck, back to the workshop, thing goes OK, no-one can find the fault, he's losing handsfull of hair over it as he drives long distances from home regularly and just can't trust the damn thing. PLUS the dealer is 140km from where he lives!!! But I digress .... back to the Japanese .... now, where'd I leave my gun? ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have read of people having major problems with their BA's aswell. Even seen people having trouble with brand new 7 Series BMWs. No manufacturer can build a perfect car every time they come down the line. Problems happen. It's not about WWII is it?

A I R Meet 19th Feb
Speaking of embarrasing oneself, today I tried some launching. What is the best way to go? TC on or off!? With it on it seemed to be a smooth take off from about 1900RPM with minimal TC activation. I then tried switching it off and again launched at 1900ish RPM but the bas*ard just squealed both tyres and began sliding sideways.. Much to the disgust of the elderly neighbourhood.. I looked like a stooge.. Seems at any RPM above about 1400 it will spin the tyres for a good 1 - 2 seconds. Surely this is wasting time? Would the track offer more grip thus eliminating this problem?

Jap Imports
People who don't respect Japanese cars are narrow minded idiots. Japanese car companies have been building turbo cars for decades and have come up with some pretty awesome technology while they were at it. Any GT-R Skyline, RZ TT Supra and some of the Evos (even though I don't like them personally) are incredible cars and I would love to drive some of them at some stage of my life. They are technically superior to what Australia produced at the same time those cars were released in Japan. They are the true 'sports' cars, what we drive are just a bunch hotted up family sedans. But a damn good bunch of family sedans. The only Japanese car I would buy personally would be an S15 200SX, its won PCOTY and was originally sold in oz. That way parts are more readily available and insurance is not as high as on a grey import. The S15 is a true sports car but because of that you suffer through lacking a little room plus a higher insurance premium. ($400 in my case over the T). But its cheaper to run and register.. I am a car enthusiast which means I ignore where the car comes from or the badge. I like cars from Europe, Japan and I don't mind a few Holdens. Give me a Grange anyday.

Track Day
Jeez that is expensive.. What are the chances of getting 20 cars as well? To be honest I couldn't afford $200 plus a day off work unpaid if it was during the week..

A I R Meet 19th Feb
So in other words we are looking at a 13 second pass with a decent clutch? Whats a stocker meant to run? Between 14.9 and 14.4?

After seeing what it was like last night I think I have to enter this time. Looks like too much fun. Plus we need a Lightning Strike car that can hopefully run faster than 14.5!

Whistle Sound From My T When On Boost
Its not the turbo whistle, its a totally different noise. The turbo sounds like a jet taking off, this noise is not a good one, it just doesn't sound right. It is clearly audible if you stand outside the car, you can hear the turbo spooling and then between 5000 - 5500RPM you can hear this high pitch shriek over the turbo noise.
-
Whistle Sound From My T When On Boost
Exact same thing with mine. It shrieks at about 5000rpm like you said, a fireworks whistle noise. It is not the turbo or the wastegate. I thought it might be an exhaust leak of some kind, I am coming up to my 15k service so I will have it checked out.

SA chitchat
I am also coming up to 15,000km so I would like to be assured that the new reflash wouldn't harm the cars power. Surely Ford wouldn't be stupid enough to do something like this.. It would even have to be illegal. You paid for '240kw' so they have no right to reduce that figure down to say '230kw' to make their other products seem better..

Anyone going to the Drift Nationals at Mallala this Saturday and Sunday? I am considering going for a bit during the arvo just to see what its all about. I have been to a few at Pt. Gawler and even though its mainly Jap cars its still good fun to watch.

22th January.saturday
That was a good cruise with some good 'entertainment'. Some of the fellers continued down Anzac highway, through town and onto Port road where we bumped into an EB with plates SVO 347. Amazing. I am sure someone can fill you in on specs (obviously an SVO 347 block etc) but all I know is it was Vorteched and FAST. BadXR had a few runs with him which were the highlight of the night for me. I hope someone got a vid or pic of it at least. Great night overall, thanks to those who organised it all.
