Thanks for the kind words sixfan, I didnt think it would be long before I got a response. you have confirmed what I thought, although I wasn't game to check the facts for 5th gear. Your experience of the revs dropping out is the same as mine, and I have seen exactly the same on other cars eg Merc 200.

I have been reading this post with interest and cannot resist adding my 10 cents worth. At the risk of returning to the original thread, I cant believe that after 4 pages of posts, and the number of techies reading this, that no-one has posted the correct answer regarding a limiter. The fact as far as I can see is that the car does NOT have a speed limiter. There I've said it. It does have a REV limiter since this is much easier to program in the ECU, and it is set to 6000rpm. It doesn't matter which gear you are in. At 6000rpm, the engine pulls sparks and reduces power. As for top speed this is simple maths. As long as you have enough power to push the car through the air, the speed is proportional to the revs in top gear. A simple test @ 1500 rpm = 63kph = 252kph @ 6000rpm @ 2000 rpm = 82kph = 246kph @ 6000rpm Close enough to see the correlation, and close to quoted figures given that these were speedo readings (using the average speed trip meter) So any variation in top speeds that people are getting is purely due to final drive ratio (including tyres rolling radius which is affected by tyre pressure), speedometer accuracy etc. OK, you can all go back to bragging about how fast you have driven along your favourite 'safe' bit of road. Shoot me down in flames if I have got it wrong.

Somemore info here passed on verbatim from a dealer so make up your own mind. In order to balance the tailshaft you need equipment from Ford of which there are about 6 in the country. I assume that this is some kind of laser equipment. This is used and weights added to the bolting area to balance up. It is not possible to balance without this equipment and there is a long waiting list. So if your dealer has balanced the tailshaft at a regular service, it may be that he is B***S***ing you, or was very lucky and had already borrowed the equipment The tailshaft has to be balanced on the vehicle, so simply chnaging over the tailshaft probably would not cure, although if it is the problem, the vibration would probably occur at a different frequency (read speed) Of course first check would be wheel balance noting the experience of rakrzy

I have had a similar problem since Day 1. Dealer has adjusted the rear door (how dumb is that) and adjusted the tailshaft but still no resolution. Currently I am waiting for a tailshaft balancer to be delivered to the dealer so that he can rebalance more precisely. I have heard there is only one in the country!! Apparantly there is a huge waiting list for this, so there must be a lot of people with similar problems. One of the other dealers sent his back the day before I phoned him. How unlucky was that? Can't find out who has got it right now. just have to wait I guess

The carpet idea isn't as stupid as it might sound. I used to use strip of carpet down the side of my garage. It certainly protected the mirrors. The real solution was to make sure the garage was wider at the next house. Also another tip for anyone with a garage that is too short. To make usre you stop when you should hang a tennis ball from the roof. As soon as it hits the screen - STOP.

I have been running the trip average fuel consumption for each fill and also keeping a log on the PC for trip and lifetime. What I can tell you is that the car trip meter consistently OVERreads and indicates poorer consumption than actual. ie trip shows 11.9 actual is 11.4 I do a mix of town and country and since I got the car (3000km ago) have averaged 11.9. On a tankful, it has been between 10.4 (mostly highway) and 13.5 (mostly town). All done on PULP I am fairly happy with these figures, guess I can't be driving it 'properly' Hope this helps

Glad to see an intelligent take on the whole thing BLKXRT. Racing thru town is just plain dumb and is the reason why the rest of us will get special attention from the boys in blue. Enjoy the car by all means, but pick the right places. I have only had the car for two weeks and I have lost count of the number of races I could have had.

I just took delivery of my T. Ordered Perforated leather, but it arrived with Sports leather. What an excellent choice, the centre part is a suede which does not get too hot. Check out the Ford website for a photo just driven Melbourne-Sydney and back and they are very comfortable. They also look good against the Sports Leather Wheel which is awesome.

I waited about 18 weeks for mine to arrive (long story), but picked it up the other day. It is even better than I imagined, have been driving an XT for a few months and the difference is huge. Colour Blueprint - looks fantastic Premium sound - CD stacker has already jammed Sports Leather seats -much better then full leather Sports Steering Wheel - great Performance - MMM - MMM just love driving it. Averaged about 16l/100km so far, but it is slowly getting better.

I was as happy a dog with 2 d***s when my car finally turned up just before the big day. Santa was well and truly organised. Imagine my frustration when the CD stacker jammed much as others have described. Just before the long trip to Sydney too. How will we survive without the CD player. Might consider the unplugging thing, but dont want to end up with no music at all. Anyone else tried this?

Hornblower, Zeke Thanks for that, I guess I got used to the cradle & its somewhere to put the damn thing. I hate the phone in pockets. What is reception like with the kit. I uderstand they don't power the signal. Do you still get an external aerial, or have you tried the internal ones. Thanks for the tip on the Ericcson. The phone coverage round our way isnt always good and the phone kit generally gets another couple of bars.

I considered the Bluetooth but dont understand why you would put one in apart from the fact it looks good you can't charge the phone (unless you buy a cradle !!!) it doesn't power the signal and my Nokia 6310 only has 10 voice dials so I would have to pick up the phone anyway plus they are more expensive Can anyone enlighten me?

I thought about Bluetooth hands free until I realised that a It was more expensive b I didnt power the signal c It didnt charge the phone. Nice gadget and very neat - but why?
