  1. Pete, dont be like that mate, you know the Tonner is a superior thing...which is apparently, according to the 'Prof' why you have one! However, rock up to the nationals with a Stage I or II car (if you think the exhaust is an issue) and I will happily serve you up. That would be nice! Its unfortunate though Im the only one of the board to challenge you....thought there MIGHT be other takers....but alas, only poor individual, backyard budget, me. GO the underdog!
  2. I see your point Glenn I was running a different gear ratio (god help the 3.07), and ET Street DOT approved tyres. No other engine mods. Stock airbox, stock extractors, HSV exhaust. Nothing special. It was pretty much all in the tune, which is why its worth $1500. A lot of engine and transmission shift calibration there. Dont get me wrong though I loved my T to bits, other than the usual Ford bits that fall off it. Its just healthy to give Pete a challenge once in a while, he thrives on it!
  3. Petes a betting man Glenn, make him take on a bet that he cant win (he doesnt mind losing the odd one here or there) make it for a 300kw upgrade, and Bobs your uncle, or your 300kw Falcon! A good bet would be......for $1500 spent on the engine can I make an LS1 go faster than an APS XR6T with $1500 spent on the engine (retail prices only guys!) Well Ive got a 12.70 says I can. Come on Pete, bite Glenn, hang on free 300kw upgrade coming to you soon...watch this space!
  4. Yeah, Greg Brindley was adamant that there was an 11 in your car, and I reckon with a little converter, and some tyre, he wouldnt be far off the mark. All you need is 114 - 115mph. Dont tell me that's not possible!
  5. Pete, you forget so fast. I had an XR6T running 12s while you guys were still working out where the wires go!
  6. Im still saving for that $1200 NOS Kit Pete....but jeez, when I get it, Ill be up there with the rest of ya!
  7. Yeah, you miss the point though Bud. I betya my dinosaur has run a faster time than your twin cam Crossflow!....all with less oil leaks Jokes aside though, what times does your car run, its obviously an APS (or Nizpro) built car?
  8. Sorry Pete I missed the earlier thing about five years to get into the 10s. In fact it took a bloke at home in Perth two years to get his stocker HSV into the 10s. No fancy tie ups with big dollar companies. Nothing like that. You do have to wonder though why it took a professional workshop with untold more times the facilities than the back yard bloke and a dedicated R&D partner like APS half the time. Its been a stretch!
  9. Actually Pete a serious drag racer uses Nitromethane..... Theres any one of many different ANDRA approved fuels C&V could have run in their car, most likely though a VP product like C21 at around 125+RON. The answer to the question is not an obvious one. For 9s though mate, bigger bottle needed!
  10. Two that I know of. Both cars with big nitrous systems Since there was alledgedly no nitrous involved in the 10 second pass, what fuel was the car running?
  11. Surely Peter you are aware of and admit to the use of nitrous oxide on your representatives - C&V Performance - VY Late model camira that ran the 10.77 second quarter mile pass. Sorry mate, it wasnt just the Unichip!
  12. This run, performed in WA over two years ago now showed just how easy it is to take a stock car and apply a heap of gas to run a ten. Yani, who did this was years ahead of those that are just discovering 10s via gas now. He did it with stock gears, stock cam, stock just about everything, and no Unichip, no Edit, just piles of nitrous. Taken from the ls1.com.au quick list ------------------------------------------------------- Name: "10s easy" (HSV Maloo VU Ute) 2D Ute, est. 3575lb WA 10.91@125 mph. , 1.53 60 foot, H, Nitrous, A4, 3.07, S ------------------------------------------------------- An excellent achievement for sure, but where is the engineering skill and street customer relevance in continually throwing nitrous at a stock engine until it blows in search of a time? Yani is the first to admit it, and never made a big deal about it. Its good that you seen to have discovered the benefit of nitrous (watch it Pete once the times start coming the gas is addictive!), but from an engineering purity and achievement give me straight pump fuel performance any day.
  13. All I say Pete regarding your last fact is 'Prove it at the track' I think you are very wrong! Too much TALK and not enough TORQUE here Still, its cheaper than building fast cars eh?
  14. Nizpro reckoned theres another second in your car John since the throttle was fixed, reckoned it stoppped you from doing an 11. Which is what I am aiming for in the VY next weekend. Rematch?
  15. 10.98 @ 124, nice initial acceleration mate, but wheres the power? Crikeys our 350rwkw Monaro ran 127mph. From looking at that times you would reckon the car had massive initial/mid track grunt with a soft hit, but maybe bottle pressure dropped towards the end of the run? Its not unheard of for some of the big XR6 players to use gas and not admit it. You were the first on to point that out about another 'oft dragged' XR6 last time I was in Melbourne Reminds me of the early LS1 days from 5 years back. All smoke and mirrors!
  16. Pete its one of two new 'big' cars debuting at the event. One has a 850hp C5-R LeMans engine, this a Vortech Z Trim blown 346 cuber with around 25psi of boost. Speaking to both owners (who unforunately only have tunes with LS1Edit using the factory PCM) their aim is for something different in the way of times. Ive gone "Whats that fellas?", Theyve said "High 10s without a Unichip and also without 300hp worth of nitrous would be good!" What makes the pictured 'Plan B' ute one to watch? In previous stock tub, daily driven, and normally aspirated form it ran 11.0 at 125mph, with a factory six speed manual. Try that in a T....also without gas.
  17. And of course, in the LS1 corner would be the famous, Plan B ute. More than a match I believe for the APS Stage IV little 4 litre. While the perception here is that the LS1 gang are easy meat for some of the big players in the XR6 came, the reality is far from that. that's why I invite you Peter, come to learn, come to race, but dont expect to win much. Remember though mate, competition breeds innovation. If nothing else it would be really good to have an industry guy of your calibre there as a drawcard.
  18. Theres already a Nissan at the event that's going to hose every Holden, and your XR6 by a country mile, and its only 3 litre Before you offer to 'teach it a lesson' or enter into any obscure and unfounded bets, already run 8.84 @ 160mph on street tyres and unleaded fuel
  19. Pete, you guys seem to have all the time in the world to go to Expensive Daewoo and Ford shows where the cars sit static all weekend save for the odd dyno run. Im sure then you could find the time to drive three hours up the road on a Saturday morning to put on a graphic display of your products capabilities against your main marketing and engineering rivals. After all, that's really what the consumer wants to see - a shootout - not *beep* footing around the difficult questions....like 'what times will she run?' I think you will find it hard to resist that challenge.
  20. Lots of big challenges for me there Pete. Dont take your eye of the real ball though, as while you are playing with me Nizpro might just walk on past you! They are keen and primed according to cuspub, with a definite and fixed goal. Think about your post regarding C&V as well. Im no expert here, but how do you modify software issues mechanically? Isnt that what all the XR turbo modifiers have been trying unsuccessfully to stop the T auto spreading its guts everywhere? Good sales pitch though fella, and that's really what its all about. Asked Dough Boy about the bet for you though mate. He looked at me, laughed, and said "Make a bet with a guy that's too scared to drive his own car on the track? wa*ker." Whatever that means.... When the flag drops, the bullsh*t stops. You might not want to come to the drag nationals then! Youll have nothing more to talk about....
  21. The ute is now long gone to a new home.....and it was mine. Im also wearing red underwear today, Im a scorpio, and my dogs name is Hunter. Anything else you want to know? Good suggestion re the other XR6 though, I will give Steve from RDP a call this afternoon and invite him....but there are some limits to all this.... While its a case of 'the more the merrier' Im not going to beg these guys to come along. If they want to come, they are welcome, but they can fill out an application form and pay the same as everyone else (even applies to me and Im one of the guys running the show) I thought it would be a good idea to get both cars together and actually race to clear up some of the keyboard crap that goes on here, but now, the silence is deafening aint it?
  22. Last time I spoke to him he was pretty over cars, which was just after his Skyline suicided an engine. Poor bugger, he doesnt have much luck with them
  23. One at a time here..... Pete you forgot to tell everyone how the LS1 had an LS1Edit program in the computer to remove the torque management etc. etc. and actually make the car quick. 1) As for the racing? Ok then Pete, heres the deal....I will bet you $5K that the APS Stage IV Ute gets hosed by an LS1 at the LS1 Drag Nationals. Deal? 2) Greg, surely you guys can build a car in two months..... 3) Peter dont change the subject here and make it APS versus private individual Martin Donnon. The offer was for an unbiased event where you could pit the skills of APS against Nizpro. It seems that both sides have some nerves when it comes to the real thing at the track. Bench racing on the forum though is easy aint it!
  24. Are you blokes for real? that's a pretty piss poor response. Like when I tried to arrange a cruise to AIR when I was racing the XR, and exactly 0.0 people showed. You guys need Boost6 to build a bit of enthusiasm back into things! A little birdie tells me his ute runs properly now they fixed the issues with it. Maybe a little touch up from the VY at the AIR test and tune in two weeks time is in order? Why dont you mob cruise out to see that?
  25. Sad, none of the big players here wants to sponsor an XR6 bracket. Typical of the Ford enthusiasts though isnt it!
