Just found out that I dont have to work tomorrow, will definitely drive out to have a look, and bring the video camera. Don't think I will run the car though. See you all there. Matt

Did the trip from Sydney mid Feb, had only had the XR6T for a couple of weeks. No dramas at all with the ferry, you drive it on yourself, no clearance problems with the bodykit etc. They tell you how close to park to the car in front, but they tend to leave a bit of room as everyone needs to get bags etc out of their boot. I believe that the deny access to the car decks once the ship has departed, so no dramas with security. Just head to the bar and enjoy some cleansing ales. Favourite drives? Where do I start? Enjoyed the road from Launceston to the east coast (via Scottsdale) , a couple of mountain ranges to cross, and it poured rain all day. Love that TC :D The entire drive from Hobart to Strahan (west coast) is in the mountains with lots of corners (the handbrake in the passenger seat was getting sick after 2 hours of non stop corners), and if you dont do the road in to Queenstown (near the Mt Lyell mine) at least 3 times there is something wrong. That piece of road is absolutely amazing. On the way up, its is flat chat in first, brake, corner, flat chat in first.......etc. Loved it! I didnt touch the cruise control the entire time I was there, and the roads are so empty, you end up cutting sharp corners because you know you have the road to yourself. Some Tassie locals might know some more hidden roads, but that's a start anyway
  3. Don't know how relevant this is. Found this site while looking at MRT's WRX forum, an explanation on disk warping from some brake expert in the US. http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/warped...rotors_myth.htm Basically the guy is saying that the warping is actually resin transfer from the pads to the disks when hot, which forms a layer on the disk. They are saying that hard stops to stationary, when the disks are new, is the cause of the problem. Having a manual, I try not to leave the pads clamped against the disk after a hard stop. I haven't had a problem with my brakes yet, after 6000 km, including a week of "spirited" driving in Tassie. My turbo has the standard brakes and I think it pulls up better than my Magna Sports, which weighed 350Kgs less.
