  1. Craig & Margaret, we wish you all the best ! Good luck with the new venture - and the F6 ! Now, how do we get 20+ T's shipped to NZ for a drive ? Scott (& Shelley)
  2. I'm really interested in any possible side effects... I had a series I AU XR6 VCT, and in trying to fix a stuffed differential the dealer downloaded a PCM upgrade (at FoMoCo's direction) ! Completely destroyed the "feel" of the car ! After the "upgrade" it was never the same, the engine and transmission never worked together, and (surprisingly) it didn't fix the differential ! Please let us know if you think that it's changed the driveability of the car...
  3. I'd have a good look at that paint Matt, I doubt that it's really HgAg topcoat - more likely it's just primer/undercoat ! All the same, you're not going to notice the difference !
  4. In this months Motor mag. there's a writeup on the F6 Typhoon - they make lots of noise about the "clever" oil cooler... Can anyone that's seen the F6 comment ? What's so special about the "fix" developed by FPV ????
  5. Same here, voted for the last weekend, but could make 15/16 if necessary...

Yes, mine also has the whine, on a decent road you can hear it as early as 80kph, but by 95kph it's really strong. Have tried to report it to the local dealer, but as they're in a suburban area, they aren't able to find it... I must admit, I'm not eager to get this "fixed" - my series I AU XR6 VCT had a bad diff replaced (manufacturing fault I was told) after 18 months, but the replacement only lasted 6 months and turned out to be worse than the original ! Having learned my lesson, it will be a while before I consider a replacement Ford diff !
  7. I just have 1 request for the organisers... Please try and find a special piece of road for Ken ! (hint... click on special) It's sure to give him a full robot chubby ! I heard how much he enjoyed some of those roads around Jindabyne !
  8. More photos... The (toilet) stop @ Tom Groggin... Photo 1 (Mick's already started to clean the car...) The car after 3 days in the Snowies... what a mess ! (What would Ken say ?)
  9. I'm also interested in getting Shelley onto these courses, probably Stage 1 & Stage 2 - especially if they could be run concurrently... ie Friday/Saturday Can someone that's done the Ian Luff Stage 1 give some details ? The Drive to Arrive course that I did was mostly theory, probably 70% of the time spent in a classroom, and 30% in the car putting the theory to the test - is the Ian Luff course like this ? What's the breakdown between theory and practice ? How much time do you actually spend in the car ? Thanks !
  10. You can still do stage 2 without stage 1. Stage 1 is compulsary for stage 3 only. The description for Stage 2 (above) says But if they are prepared to waive that requirement, then I'm certainly interested in Stage 2 ! :banghead:
  11. I'm interested, but I've already done a drive to survive course a few years ago (through work) with one of Luff's competitors... I'm really not interested in paying $265 for a repeat of a drive to survive course - there's that Stage 1 upgrade that I'm saving for... I would be really interested in Stage 2 (Advanced Car Control) - of course since I haven't done Stage 1 with Ian Luff I'm out of luck ! :banghead: I'm going to try AAMS to see if they are running any courses soon. What are people more interested in ? A basic driver safety course, or something that will allow us to get the most from the XR6T's power & handling ?

Hi Aswold1 Make sure that you're not confusing limp mode with a valve spring issue - the quality of the valve springs used by Ford isn't 100%... Some springs are a bit "softer" and this will allow a buildup of oil in the hydraulic lifters, this results in rough running for a minute or two until the car is idled for long enough that the build up can bleed back into the system. There have been a few threads about this on the forum, try doing a search...
  13. Hi All This is very common sense stuff, and has been bounced around between a few forum members for some time.... Sadly some people will probably resist these efforts, and it will be up to us as a group to decide if the cost of losing the membership of a few people is worth the creation of a set of rules. Like everything in life a balance must be sought... On the Snowy trip last weekend, the roads into & out of Murray 1 were signposted for 80kph, and were really fun to drive - but some members may not have had the confidence (or experience) to drive at that speed... I hope that any rules drafted takes this into account, forcing everyone to drive to the lowest skill level of all the drivers present will also lead to boredom and frustration.
  14. Hi Peter We'll be there - 2 adults.
  15. Hi All Just arrived back in Sydney (after an extra day in Jindy...) - happy to see that everyone arrived home safely (we were pretty worried, with the group facing a long drive home, and not leaving Cooma until after 4:00). We had a great time, great fun catching up with the regulars, and seeing some new faces in the crowd ! Pictures are on the way - looks like we just missed the cutoff for the photo gallery. A big thanks (again) to Trumpy (Matt) for another excellent day's driving ! Craig and Margaret, we'll miss you on our cruises - do they have fluffy dashboard dice in NZ ? For those of you concerned about your wives/girlfriends/whoever driving on the curises... Just get them to talk to Mrstwinxrs - we hit 1x0kph (overtaking the odd car here & there) on the way back today - and NO it wasn't me driving... Scott ( & Shelley)
  16. Hi All We're in ! We'll be driving down on Friday, so we'll see you all on Saturday evening ! Can't wait... 1 car (colour - looks like Krash will have some company... ) & 2 people !
  17. Hey Ken - SWMBO's a bit late.... I got mine for christmas ! BTW... One of the guys at the office had to work with a New Zealander called Kent - used to break him up every time Kent called.... Obviously his parents really hated him ! (Think how "Kent" sounds with an NZ accent  )
  18. If you want your opinions noticed, please post here, as that's the thread that started this topic, and it seems to be the one that the moderators are watching.

Hi MissXR Really sorry to see what's happened to the ute ! We're really paranoid about where the T is parked... Especially when you see how some clowns treat other peoples property ! :banghead: Hopefully it will be just a matter of buffing the Expensive Daewoo paint off and replacing the clips...

Hi Peter Is there any chance that you will continue to sell the current Phase I system ? ie just the loom and chip ? The current phase I price point (~$1700) and performance (~280fwkw) are just what I'm looking for...
  21. BOV's aren't illegal - every XR6T has one... After-market BOV's that vent to the atmosphere are illegal...
  22. Do a search, this has been reported by a few people on the forums. It's caused by a breach in the seal around the battery post - can ONLY be caused by incorrect handling/installation. The ONLY fix is battery replacement - the local dealership replaced mine after a bit of haggling... Please report it to the CRC, as they claim that they have never heard of this issue !
  23. PM sent ! A big thanks to Con @ C&V !
  24. eBay auction An F/A-18 Hornet - wonder what the top speed is ? Maybe we can do a group buy !

I delivered my car to the dealer yesterday for my boost problem. I presented an A4 page of symptoms, observations, and some of the anecdotes from this site (sticking swing vavles & siezed wastgates) - the service advisor excelled himself by proceeding to discredit everything listed ! Fills you with confidence ! NOT ! They will have it for the rest of the week (at least), so we'll see if they can find anything - and how many new problems they can inflict on it ! Worst case, I might have to take a drive down to Melbourne, drop the car in to Peter Luxon at APS and check out the Grand Prix !
