Supposed to be this Saturday but there predicting massive rains so not holding my breath

We've bought a 2nd car to hopefully meet my need for speed. It's a carolla ke70 wagon that will weigh roughly 900kg with me in it. Combo will be to start off with a 1jz, 8285, nos and meth. It's already caged, tubbed, 9in, ladderbar and wheelie bars and runs 14in slicks. Just waiting for the engine to come back and we'll start piecing it together. Will aim to have the world's fastest 1j and more importantly scare me lol

To be honest I couldn't tell ya but it's just set so everything works and wears how it should on the street, no special setup. All the usual bushes in it that are probably 4 yrs old now, never had issues with em

It'll never be the fastest outright xr its too heavy and we can't get enough tyre under it plus this is my slow car so we don't need to push it that hard just for the sake of racing it. It'll go out once more and pushed hard and then til the apsa season starts again it'll go into hibernation and we'll dial it back for the new true street class which only allows 9.50

Cheers mate it was good to get a few of these 60s back to back rather than just fluckin it, there's still more in even with the 40 profile radials there not rotating off the line so it's a good sign there's more in it.

Why drive 2500klm to go to a slower track when willowbank is practically in my backyard it's not like I like ya that much Trent

Yep it is and no nothing gear related. We use the laid over traces in the log rpm/speed/target boost and the old timeslip to calculate when we want it to come in and of coarse good old seat of the pants feel and video. It's amazing what good footage can do for ya as well

Just footbrake and handbrake which the aux 2step is triggered off. 1st gear had the same power in it all night but 2nd gear had more peak boost and put in a little earlier than the previous runs. Nothing major though and the tuned was trimmed a little so just was cleaner than the first few passes

Yep if ya use it to its full potential it's an awesome bit of kit, you can control everything and there's no guess work especially if ya have sensors on everything like we have

It's actual road speed we have a sensor that triggers off the tailshaft. The iq3 dash is calibrated and reads it as well, it can also be done via gps but no need to complicate matters as this is dead accurate.

Man tune is next Saturday, we have bigger tyres and a prepped track it'll be getting everything it can give us

I'm with ya now mick. We don't use gear based with the haltech, the way we have it atm it's road speed, eg we leave the line and just as an example from 0-20klm 16psi is desired and we can dial in at any increments say from 20klm to 180klm to a peak boost value depending on how much the tyres will let us put in. This is the point that we're at now just to get that peak boost in as early as possible obviously if you can reduce that to all the boost in by 120 or 140klm ya gonna go quicker cause u have a higher average hp across the pass. As it is the tyres are on the brink of breaking out down the track which we can see in the road speed trace so we know we can't put it in any earlier. We used the eboost prior to this and I manually up selected mid run via the controller to feed more boost into it but was a big jump and even with speed it shock loaded the tyres and probably the rest of the system. It can be set via gear or a time base but you still only have 6 increments to work with where as the haltech is endless. The long explanation wasn't so much for you mick but others that might be curious but not as familiar with the track or of coarse the benefit of this type of control.

Exactly what side of it did ya want to know about, probably easier than me writing an unnecessary essay lol

We have it set up to do unlimited boost progression vs road speed. There's no way we'd get the power down through those little tyres without it. The boost control is only one small reason we went down this route. We can have an unlimited size map sensor, target afrs which is awesome over such a broad boost/power increase over a run, target timing, individual cylinder tuning & more than anything its ability to datalog. It's opened my eyes to a new world since seeing what it's capable of logging and how we can use that information to go faster. We basically went from no data to running that time in 4 passes, that alone shows its value in my mind.

The eboost is only used for street duties when we race it it's one connection that we pull and plug and the haltech controls it. Obviously not everyone is gonna put a haltech in but boost controllers like ams and boost leash will allow the same sort of control and adjustability that the haltech does for us.

Xyz coilovers set to what we've learnt over time. There is no big dollar setup under there and the std brakes love it I've never had a problem pulling it up. The rotors on it are even a few yrs old, they've seen quite a few passes so I'm very surprised that there's no shudder yet. The launch is all in the way we've set them and boost control off the line not just the min or peak number. Anyone can do it

    Jet066 Reborn

It still pulls up sweet at this point, plenty of time before the exit. I won't pull the chute unless it becomes completely necessary which it may or may not happen next outing knowing the power we're gonna put through it. There still std bf brakes so there doin well, I figure having the 245 front Tyre is helping things there.

Yeah trent, kieren saved the day with the new tensioner pulley. Wouldn't of been able to run without him. Once ya get use to the gforce that it pulls it's quite easy to drive, when it runs 9.50 it's very sedate but at near enough to 160mph it starts to feel rapid and ya have to be on ya toes to get the most out of it

    Jet066 Reborn

Your on the money mick, there's definitely a right way and a wrong way. There's one thing to tune a car with lots of power but to run real times it's in understanding car setup and making it work for ya.

We got awesome video of it. I'm on my phone so I'm not sure how to embed it. YouTube "8 second Falcon street car" and it should come up

    Jet066 Reborn

We hit the track tonight to start feeding abit of power into it and cracked a major milestone not only for us but the xr in general. We ran 8.908 @ 158mph with a 1.38 60ft. Was on pump e85 17in radials drove to and from the track and still retains the falcon irs with the usual bolt on upgrades. That now makes it the first 8 sec irs equipped and fastest street driven xr in aus. Thanks to my team and mates at forced performance and tuning, Tbre & 6boost for there support in getting us this far. We'll be back out next wk with a higher profile 17in radial and on a daytime meet with a prepped track so we'll step it up further and see what it has in it
  22. George abit of an update to our time 8.908 @ 158.48 1.38 60ft. Still on 17in radials e85 and all the rest of the info on track and tuner is still the same
  23. That time he ran was with a 64 mm turbo now has a 82 So lots and lots left in it if Lee takes it back out
  24. Thanks for updating it George. Was our first night of testing with the new engine and only got 2 full passes in but both were up over 150mph. We were taking it reasonably easy on it especially in the first half of the track to make sure we got it off the line to collect data over a full pass. We're pretty happy with the track tune in it now it's just a matter of increasing boost, getting it in earlier and going faster. We're still on a 17in radial, full weight and pump e85. Drive there chute on tyres on and go
