exactly xr6 2001. If people start talking about drag racing on the track, how many of those cars are stock? most people with autos are running a high stall which ofcourse is going to be quicker. I havt gone to the track in my car becuase its pretty much stock and its not that fast, but from my experiance the same car in auto cant keep up. Let me get this straight, peoples general conception is that a auto HSV would be faster than a manual?or an xr8 in that matter? If the xr6t auto is faster than manual it would be minimal and to be honest I dont belive it. Thiere is another thread on this site in whihc a bloke drove the FG XR6T auto and manual and said the manual smoked the auto every time? Should we trust a bloke that's driven both?

I agree, I havnt had auto in my car ever beat me in my manual... like I say a good manual driven car is faster than a auto.

Yeah But VENOM XR6T. I was comparing last MOTOR manual time to this current MOTOR manuals times in the XR6T and im telling ya you shouldnt loose acceleration from 80-120kmp like thaat.

I think your dreaming..... your almost asking for 10% off... Go for it and if yo get it good on you but on road cost are around $3000 ( Stamp duty, dealer delivery and rego...) I think u mite get it for the RRP with options price whioch was 41 sumtin... and then get free onroads... $41000 drive away mite be doable I recon mate. Good luck

Hey mate, I am as stumped as you are..... Factors Though.. FG GT is a heavier car.... gear ratios probably played a big part in it to. I was lookin at the dyno and the GT only has a kW advantage top end which from 80 - 120 in 3rd, 4th , 5th and 6th would never be reached at 120. I mean 3rd revs right out to 165 so it still has heaps arfter 120... I agree with what yur sayin though and to me I think times in these magazines are bullsh*t.... Look at this: New MOTOR MAG said A clubby R8 did 80-120 in 3 flat in 3rd. Last wheel mag I got said a GTS did it in 3.6 in 3rd? and then theres this bullsh*t. Last wheels mag with dyno readings : 80 - 120 in GT 3.9,6.0,10.1,15.3. Thant 3rd 4th 5th and 6th. The new Motor mag 3.6 4.9 7.5 10.7. Look at the difference? how can there be 5 seconds in 6th gear?

penko I asked my self the same thing.... did they tune there press cars to get better times in the first reviews? I spoke to some one in the know, they recon tuning is not the case. They said it would either be they were optimistic on there first runs ( maybe a lil dodgy, cut a few 10ths off) or the demo cars motor was run in and this one wasnt. He did say though in ford testing low 5 were achievable in both manual and auto.... They think 6 seconds was a bad run by any means and said its is quicker than that.

Hey guys, The general opinion on this site is that motor mag get the best times out of cars in performance testing? I just recievd the new motor magazine and was a little dissapointed in the times they got with a manual FG XR6T? Ok they say the gravelly airport was the problem but most the other cars in the field were pulling of there normal times.... XR6T did 1/4 mile in 14 flat and 0 -100 in 6 flat..... That is almost 1 sec slower than previous manual tests to 100 and atleast half a second slower in the 1/4 mile.. Lets say the gravel had a big part to do with it what about acceleration from 80 - 100.. Gravel effect would be alot less abstructive in this test... but still times are off I mean way off... have a look at this..... motor june edition: 1/4 mile 13.5 at 172k's motor july edition: 1/4mile 14.0 at 172k's 0-100 5.2secs 0 - 100 6.0 secs 80 - 120 in 3rd 3.0 secs 80 - 120 in 3rd 3.4secs 80 - 120 in 4th 3.9secs 80 - 120 in 4th 4.5secs 80 - 120 in 5th 6.3secs 80 - 120 in 5th 7.0secs 80 - 120 in 6th 9.7 secs 80 - 120 in 6th 11.9secs each gear up get gradually worse and look at 6th gear? Also there is a write up FPV V HSV.... I dont understand?? F6 still hasnt pulled of a 1/4 as quick at the auto XR6T has?? and sum how the FG GT was 1 sec slower around winton in thi edition to last one? I can understand a couple hundreths but 1 secs? mmm I didnt have much faith in mag times anyway but this 1 has just made me think there full opf sh*t....

unless you get A BF R spec for a good price go the FG XR6T. The Fg will be quicker and have a much better chassis. If you get a BF that's not an R spec you will loose so much money because its the old model. Go have a look on redbook.....

And as for fuel comsumption..... I recon in overall driving a manual is more fuel efficient unless your on the freeway all the time becuase the auto will rev lower than the manual at 100. bout 300rpm in BF's....

hey chuckie, The autos are easy to go fast in a straight line but a well driven manual in the same car would be just as fast. I think where people come stuck is driving a manual to its full potential... If you can drive a manual well, I recon you would give the auto a run for your money... and I know figures from mags are bullsh*t but if you look the manuals v autos, the manual is about .1 sec slower...... In a drags race, .1 of a second would be 12 inches ahead. I know we are talking different cars here but I have a 5speed manual Late model camira and absolutly flog the auto versions.... mine is a VT and I destroy even VZ with alloytech in auto form.... MY FG XR6T comes next week. Cant wait..

VENOM XR6, I was told friday that they are building 20 a day? is it possible that there making more motors than cars at the moment.

Wheels F6 was an auto and did have half a tank of fuel and 2 ppl in the car. 0 - 100 in 5.2secs and 1.4 mile in 13.3 isnt any faster nor slower than a xr6turbo in auto but look at the speed at the end of the 1/4 mile. 174 in xr6turbo and 178 in f6. Also look at roll on acceleration. XR6T 3 secs from 80-120. F6 2.7secs 80-120. The F6 is quicker and looking at the terminal speed at the end of a 1/4 mile I recon a better launch in the F6 will definatly knock of anothe .1secs. 1 person in a car and only a little bit of fuel in car will save atleast 120kgs. easily sub 5 sec too 100kmp. high 12 quater mile.

FORD HO arnt fully to blame eigther. You have to understand there predicament... there is alot riding on this car... Belive me guys there not hiding much off you people. They just want this car to be 110% ready before going out to public. That is the honest answer. Im telling you guys, you will be recieving your cars in the next month to 6 weeks.... and I bet when you do you will forget this frustration you have right now and absolutely love the car.

G6ET seems a tad over priced but not by much. I did a quick calculation : you can only get G6ET in auto so I will do a comparison with an XR6T Auto. G6ET = $54990 The Differences :Luxury Performance Control Blade Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), body kit, side mirror indicators, Power adjustable side mirrors with memory and reverse auto adjust, Electrochromatic rear vision mirror, Front scuff plates, Overhead sunglasses console, 8 -Way power adjustable driver seat with 3-position memory, 18inch rims. fully optioned XR6T = $54440 The Differences : Sports Control Blade Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), body kit, power adjustable pedals, Alloy pedal covers, Power adjustable side mirrors, 4-Way power driver's seat, LSD, 19inch rims, Parimeter alarm. The main thing the G6ET has over the XR6T is the drivers seat where the XR6T has a parameter alarm, G6ET doesnt? But in the G6ET's defence the leather will be full leather interior where the XR6T would be a sports leather set up. I do belive the G6ET should be around $1000 cheaper than what it is but I imagine the car will sell without trouble because at the end of the day, both these cars at these prices are fantastically equiped for the price you pay. Just both will accomidate different specrums of buyers. Would I get one, for sure if I could afford one. haha

The problem is guys, the dealers dont know the problem. They are getting told bullsh*t, the same as the public are. I have heard on the grape vine we will see turbos in 1 to 2 weeks on the road so I imagine some of you will be getting calls in about 3 weeks to come and pick up your car.... An educated guess would be 3 weeks to 5 weeks and we will all have our new turbos....
