LOL,I know it sounds sus but yeah that's all its going to be till we figure out what the restriction is. If the gutted cat takes away my problem then I will get a complete dump back system asap as I dont like the idea of gutted cats. Not only do they change the note but the fumes stink when in garage etc.

The bottom half of box is different with the lower intake and the side snorkel off the turbos are bigger than your xr6 one. I am in Frankston,Melbourne.

Thanks Adrian,hoping that's all it is and will be ok when gutted cat fitted. I have been told the same by my tuner aswell that it should make a little over 300rwkw with high flow system. Fingers crossed for the gutted cat trial soon.

Hi all,I own a ba2xr6t and have a problem that hopefully others have had. I have done injectors,springs,pump,air filter and f6 intake and have previously had it tuned last year to 270rwkw. Have had a couple of light pinging dramas above 5000rpm which were soughted and tuned at 265rwkw. I replaced my cat under warranty due to having internal rattle which was replaced by a bf style cat. I have been told the ba ones are replaced by these. I have recently fitted an excellent cooler kit known to alot of others and this is where the fun starts. On the dyno it only produced 268rwkw. Checked cam timing and all other sensors for correct operation and found all ok. Dropped exhaust after cat and found no difference in power figure at all. Boost levels,fuel trims etc are all ok.We are thinking restriction in cat or hose from turbo to cooler. Expected figures are about 290rwkw with standard exhaust and cat so am down 22rwkw max but about 50rwkw in the midrange. Questions are how much can the bf cats handle and has any others had similar problems. I am returning to tuner shortly to fit a gutted cat for testing purposes and hoping that's where the restriction is. Have no doubts at all in my tuner just after any suggestions. Thanks.

I have a complete air box,lower intake and xrt intake snorkel all out of a bf phoon. Their yours for $120 if you want them.

Sounds very familiar to a typhoon and a territory,both which we had in to the dealership in the same week. They both had rough idle when warm,the typhoon was down on power and was surging and when the problem occured they both sounded like they had performance cams. After several hours doing the usuall checks and tests we found the cam timing had jumped a tooth on the crank. We have never seen this problem before and then 2 in 1 week. Neither of them had any engine work or mods previously and had done about 30,000km. Suggest it to your dealer if they get stuck and cant find problem.

Is it auto or manual? Tuned or stock? Has it been pinging? If its auto I would check the convertor bolts also. If its been pinging and is tuned possibly bent rod or damaged bearing. Is it idling rough or missing? I get piston rattle when cold in my standard ba mk2 engine which goes away when temp gets to quarter. Sounds like it has forged pistons and is really bothering me but it has done it for 8 months. I think it was due to the pinging problem I had earlier in my tuning period. Check your compression aswell and check piston heights using a piece of thin rod comparing1-6,2-5 and 3-4 this will tell you if you have a bent rod without pulling head off. good luck and hope its something simple.

Hey ypurv4 where abouts do you cruise around franga and morno.I live in frankston and work at ford in mornington so would suit me better to cruise locally then princess. My mate just got his white eb xr8 stroker back from herrod and we went for a prinny run but to much traffic till too late and yeah,alot of cars getting towed. I take it fridays are when your out?

If the calibration was set for unleaded their is no way it should ping if your using premium. If they have set it to pulp it would be more likely to ping now as the fuel and ignition tables would now be suited to the better fuel.Maybe you have just had a bad bunch of fuel which can take a few tank fulls to get rid of. Try disconnecting your battery for more than 10 mins to reset everything and try a different servo for 98 octane fuel.

If I am driving at say 70 kmh and put the boot in I occasionally get a loud sqwauk on kickdown. It sounds like either trans or diff when it happens. I just select the gear before put the foot down as much as I can.

The rod you have circled isnt the fault. The heater module is in the picture which can be the problem but the main cause of heater not working is the mixer shaft gear snaps off causing flap not to move. The heater module turns the shaft by the gear at fault.Turn the control from hot to cold and vice versa in a quiet place but wait 10secs before going back and forth. If you can hear the module working when you turn the control from hot to cold the shaft is broken. I could do it for you if you were in Melbourne LOL. The main cost is labour as the shaft is cheap. Takes about 4hrs to do.

Thanks,I am in the process of organising a 3.5" cat and am very interested in your results. Did they charge you any more to make your new collector and have you had the car on the dyno again since then.Hillside sound like a good bunch to deal with. Who changed the position of the collector the second time for you with the collector being further back? Do you have any pics yet.

where abouts are hillside exhausts as I want to replace my cat before next tune also. How much was the cat as I will do the same as you and purchase one then get it fitted. $175 FOR PIPE AND FITTING + ? Thanks

I charged my mate $300 to fit his springs in his 03 xr6t. MK2 bas up are a bit more of a pain as they dont use gaskets they use sealant on the timing cover.Takes a bit of time to clean and re seal timing cover as apposed to replacing gaskets. I reckon you could probably do them without removing timing cover and cams but that's the way I do them. Back 2 springs are the hardest and they get easier as you start making your way to the front. Havent dropped a collet but if it goes into the sump it cant really go anywhere.

What sort of cars do your mates have? I am in Frankston so will be up that way at 10:30pm,I will go past the sandown pub car park and see if anyones there. Hope to see a few xrts as I did a few weeks ago and had a fun night driving around in a force6. Good carpark at the sandown to have a chat and see what others have done to their ts.

What was your power output result before and after cooler or did you have other stuff done at the same time.Looks like you were getting injectors aswell.Mods and Results would be great ,thanks.
