  1. Hmmm, I think time may have changed the memory of my words slightly, maybe at the time I wasn't interested in doing stock position manifolds, or wasn't in a position to do falcons in general straight away as that would have been in my first 12 or so months of business, we now do stock position manifolds for both fg and bf No hard feelings Ben Envy R34 should be stout 6BOOST
  2. To explain further on Spiro's post, when tuning the car yesterday we are well and truly out of injectors, and while we had enough time to remove a wastegate spring today and lower boost, our biggest concern was spending multiple hours getting a tow car, trailer, loading the car, swapping tyres and driving to the track only to have it rain out, when given time we can fit the bigger injectors and go out at full power when we get everything in unison. All in good time 6BOOST
  3. Pj's car has a precision billet 6265 on it now, with a .84 rear housing, it has made 460rwkw with this turbo on 39psi. It previously had a TO4Z on it with a .7 divided rear which made close to the same power on the same boost levels and spooled earlier than the precision, with the same rear housing as each other we both feel the spool and hp would be near identical. Comparing the power outputs of any small capacity vs the ford 6 engine is fruitless, as they will make more power for any given compressor flow than a falcon 6. They can also tolerate higher exhaust back pressure as they typically run higher boost pressure to make the same power. Explain? Well, a falcon with 700hp might have 20psi of boost pressure and 20psi of back pressure. Going to 23psi might take that up to 30psi, and as you keep going, back pressure increases dramatically as the compressor runs out. A small motor on the other hand might have 40psi inlet pressure vs 30psi exhaust back pressure, or even 40 and 40, and 1:1 is still considered good. The turbine flow on small engines seems to allow more hp for a given turbo than on a bigger motor. What does this mean for ford 6 enthusiests? The GTX range, at least in the smaller sizes like GT35, will have little benifit over a normal GT35, at least not for the cost of them anyway as they will be over $2000 without turbine housing, as the turbine flow will still be the restriction, Nizpro already do a clearanced turbine housing in 3 sizes to allow more flow for the stock ford housing, but we have found in testing it effects spool dramatically, to the point a bigger turbo would be more benificial in hp for the same spool. I am about 6 weeks off testing a turbo from Forced Performance in the USA called the HTA3794, this incorporates a 67mm billet wheel, and a bigger GT37 turbine wheel, and all in a GT35 frame, so we have machined a stock 1.06 internal ford housing to go on it. I will be testing this turbo on my BF 6 speed auto on the stock manifold, stock position 6boost manifold, high mounted with a T4 1.00 rear housing with single gate, and high mount T4 with twin gate, then will be putting a TO4Z I have here with 1.00 on it as a final test for a comparison. I think the HTA3794 will be the ultimate street turbo for the falcon, and will produce up to around 500rwkw. I would advise anyone thinking of any of the turbo's mentioned in this thread to hold off till we do the testing and see what best suits your needs then. Regards....................6BOOST
  4. Wow, 2006, only 4 years after I did it in MY turbo manual falcon. You are quick. 6BOOST
  5. Ah, oh no probs, 10.0@128 off it at 1000ft then=)~
  6. My post was in reply to F6 Ute which I thought was clearly obvious, Im not sure when this thread started to get personal, but when you go faster than 7.64, then you can show me how it's done Bev=)~ 6BOOST
  7. Feel free to show everyone the way any time you like mate
  8. Still 3200lb, it's no lightweight. 29.5x10.5 and maybe even 11.5 will go under the factory tub anyway, I just don't want to modify the bumpers to fit it, regardless of anyones opinion its still a street car and will see regular street use when we achieve our goals. Considering they have run 7.2's@190+ on leaf sprung 3600lb car in the states with 275 radials, 28" tires will be ample=)
  9. We've gone 7.64@184 in Stews Capri on 28x10.5's with dirty old leaf springs, I think they'll do us just fine 6BOOST
  10. What sort of % does a hub dyno read over a typical DD so we can compare to other figures given? I think one of Jims customers was making about 550rwkw and made 470 on a DD? Not slagging the difference, a dyno is a tuning tool, it would just be good to keep the comparisons straight forward for those who don't realise the difference. 6BOOST
  11. F uckin quote of the century *Beep*! I vote for option E as well Bev, the further the goal posts are moved the better for me 6BOOST
  12. Haha, he wasn't speaking poorly of everyone in general, it takes a lot of experience looking at chassis setup, making changes and understanding their outcome to know why we shoot cars in slo mo. Some words for you to investigate to be part of the 1% would be anti-squat, neutral line, instant centre, centre of gravitycompression, extension, and basically the plethora of information that will come with those words on any website you will find info. It'll probably never be of any use to you unless your really into drag racing, but hey, at least you'll be part of the 1% True, however being the only person on the planet able to exploit their capabilities atm is a whole different ballgame Danny We look forward to being able to share in your vast experience To be honest I purchased it off ebay second hand, however you can buy a really good one cheap, I have 2 slow mo camera's, I just prefer that one, the other one I got is a Canon EX-FC100, I think it was $199?? I still can't believe how few people use a camera for chassis tuning, even with every sensor known to man in a pro stock car, slo mo video still comes in handy I apologise if I have taken your intentions and wording the wrong way toad, as you have said its difficult to get someones intentions at times from text. With so many people throwing cirticism, it may have been a case of bad timing rather than bad intentions We are actually looking for a little seperation Pat, what may look to some like squat in that video is actually weight transfer after initial plant, I will make more and more changes as the car progresses, however if we hit the tyre too hard atm till we get the power, 2 step and driver all in tune on the launch, it will simply bog and go nowhere. The front struts I believe are the pedders single adjustable type, Spiro may give you more exact specifications, I'll play more with these when we get a numerous amount of other things sorted, atm I am more interested in the first 60ft and the last 660ft than anything in between 6BOOST
  13. Haha!!!! And you and Spiro a lot of money Bev!! One for the road, as I said to you earlier guessed the neutral line pretty well sir spiro, keep this vid for comparison in a few weeks 6BOOST
  14. Are you making a point of following me around handing out criticism or am I just reading too much into it? Last time I checked, it was a lot easier to build boost with a GT35 than a GT42 with big ar rear housing, and I'm sure they didn't do it in 6 passes either. I will now leave the thread up to you Spiro, you may be able to deal with all the know it alls much better than me mate, seems there are plenty of experts around here, I'm sure with all their advise we'll be running 6's soon its so easy hey lol. I'll get back in the shed workin on the car and let her do the talking over the coming weeks, better get my arse into gear though as it seems people think its all too easy, better try and live up to all the expectation!! Thanks for the help today Danny, greatly appreciated, look forward to working with you to bring the capabilities of the stock ecu up to where they need to be for us;) 6BOOST
  15. Hmmm, not quite up for DPA's with guys orry henz, but thanks for the offer Jamie had mentioned a while ago that you had succesfully added and tuned with the 4 bar map sensor, so its definately an option worth considering. The tune side of things has only become such a difficult task with the new camshafts, it was almost perfect with the old cams, both Braydens and Spiro's car have run up to 37psi with no issues including general drivability, though tuning the new "stage 5+" cams has proven a difficult task. At the end of the day, I am not the tuner, Jamie is, and for the most part while I decide on the boost pressure, overal timing and afr's, I don't know my way around the ford mapping at all, I'm sure it would only take time to learn, but then that's what I pay Jamie for The car outside of the mapping is doing everything we designed it for and expected it to, it was pretty neutral in launch meaning I guessed the neutral line pretty spot on, and when we get the car a little more dialed in I'll put some more anti-squat in it and we'll really see some wheels up launchs At the end of the day nothing at this level happens overnight, We'll get there, that's what testing is for 6BOOST
  16. Haha, its easy to sit in the grand stand and throw stones isn't it, feel free to start your own threads with your awesome efforts..... Oh that's right, you only know how to TELL others how awesome you are To be honest, while the first outing was in some aspects disappointing, it was also possibly the best thing that could have happened, as getting Spiro accustomed to the car after such extensive mods was certainly in order. To some they think you just pull up in the water and do a skid, then launch her and away you go. Now take into consideration that fact the car has virtually no vacuum, so no brakes in the burnout, then you have 28x10' slicks to turn and not wanting to over rev it in the burnout with the hydrualic valvetrain. You then also have 3 times the traction on the launch to consider over an IRS falcon, and moving 4000lb WITH traction and a lock up clutch is no mean feat. Oh, that's without taking into consideration the 1000hp that wants to tear you a new arsehole in every gear turning the 10" slicks like 175 radials. Couple this to trying to do it all on the stock computer, with 1000cc injectors and 30+psi on mapping that stops at 22 with race fuel due to bottoming the load cell, and all of a sudden you have a whole f*cking HEAP of factors to take into consideration that most experts will only ever dream about experiencing let alone doing themselves. I feel for Spiro, as standing out above the croud and sharing all makes for an easy target, but luckily he has built this car for himself and to please himself, and judging by the smile on his face being able to launch on the 2 step last night, I have to say I don't think anyone could take that joy away from him Thankyou to all those who show and give their support, we will continue to iron her out over the coming weeks and look forward to the last 3 solid weeks of work coming to fruition for Spiro and team. I have had a huge day but will get some nice vids up tomorrow night. 6BOOST
  17. Well I am not the tuning wizard of this outfit, so I will let jamie chime in when he gets a chance and give a better description of the pro's and cons, suffice to say that my ute was run with 60lb deka's for 18 months, and the driveability has never been better since switching them out for hiflowed stockers. I have to say that for someone like Nizpro to use hiflowed injectors, there has to be merit to the cause, not that I sondone their injectors, I don't like drilled injectors in the slightest, and our injectors are not drilled in any way, how they are modified is a secret that will remain with us! My belief in hiflowing the stock injectors is not one of trying to flog the product, they simply work, PJ's quick bits does great ones as well, buy them off him if you think its a self promotion, we just prefer them, to each his own. Its simple really, I made good power on a stock manifold, so people were interested in the supporting mods to achieve it. But I agree that its getting far off track, so lets get back to the topic at hand Who's got some notable cars/power figures/times from a stock manifold out there? 6BOOST
  18. Hey guys, Save for a few little things to do to bring the car to andra spec like a spring on the dipstick etc, the car is ready to rock and roll. The problem we have is the dyno is not currently usable, and some final tuning is still in need, we are hoping the dyno gets fixed tomorrow, however at this stage we are not 100% if it will get done in time to race this weekend. After such a tremendous effort, we, meaning both Spiro AND the 6boost team want the car 100% when she rolls into the staging lanes for the first time. We'll keep you posted! Cheers.................6BOOST
  19. Maybe as I haven't posted here much you take my forwardness as for more angry and abrupt than intended UTE 6F, I took your post relatively light heartedly, and judging by the fact you wished spiro all the best, I knew your post wasn't intended to be rude. If you read my post more clearly though, I said how many H pattern cars in AUSTRALIA run 9's? I can think of 1 supra, 2 evo's, 1 wrx, and 2 vl's, so that's a total of 6 cars, and the heaviest is a supra at 3600lb with as much money as spiro's spent on it, and 10 time stronger factory rear end and manual box. Sure maybe there is hundreds if not thousands of these cars WORLDWIDE that run 9's, but then if the BA-FG falcon was sold worldwide in the same numbers in countries with the same amount of development potential we might have seen 9's years ago and have hundreds doing so as well;) We don't use much BW stuff as garrett has proven almost unbreakable, more companies stock them, as well as having a broader range available. Plain bearing stuff in most cases with 20-30psi of boost we find doesn't last more than 12-24 months without needing a rebuild. I also don't think the VNT stuff will catch on with performance engines, if it was doable we would have seen it on indy cars or similar high level motorsport by now. I'm not sure if the system will stand up to the temperature and rpm some performance turbo's are driven to. The jury is out till I see more:) 6BOOST
  20. Comparing a 4000lb family car to anything else IMO is fruitless, especially those with 10-20 years more development time or those sold in numerous countries with 500 times more people modifying them like the evo's. if we want to go that route, lets ask how many H pattern Evo's, WRX's, VL's, Supra's and GTR's have run 9's IN THIS COUNTRY. You can put your toes away, you can probably count all makes on your 2 hands 6BOOST
  21. The FG intake has same or similar flow to the aftermarket items, with better distribution, and the main thing for me is I have done everything under the bonnet to try and look stock, so having an improvement while looking stock was a bonus. It was a hell of a lot of work though, I would highly advise against it for anyone paying a shop to do it, or don't expect change from $2500 with the manifold and rail fitted. It did give a nice improvement both in bottom end, and more so power all the way to redline (an extra 500rpm). Our hiflow injectors are about the same size as Seimens 80lb'ers with better spray pattern and work nicer on the stock ecu as you don't have to worry about dead times etc being any different, they just seem to run nicer than aftermarket injectors. You can make around 1000rwhp on petrol and 750 on E85 with them. 6BOOST
  22. Haha, yes, just to confirm, neither the turbo nor the manifold have ever been unbolted from my engine in its 50k since new Despite the business I am in, I have enough race cars to spend money on so this one has had the bare minimum of mods. We have also tried to do the subtle approach under the bonnet, where everything looks stock to the untrained eye It makes normal/similar power to everyone elses results on pump, 373rwkw, and ran [email protected] with 312rwkw on our dyno, so its about right, but the E85 is something else in these falcons fella's, because of how knock limited they are. I urge everyone to try it at least once 6BOOST
  23. That would be the engine improvements made during the build with the old tuneup She is pretty much there boys, exhaust was finished tonight, screens back in, chute release finished, save for finishing off the ABS mods and bleeding the brakes, the big girl is almost ready to hit the rollers, and even better the track
  24. Thanks Ben, Your car has a built auto doesn't it? If so how do you find it?
