Hi toxic, Dont know if this helps much but years ago when I worked in collingwood I reversed into a tree ( which earnt me the nickname george of the jungle) anyway there was a smash repair place near by called LA smash repairs. The guy was a bit eccentric but he did a good job. He also had an old gull wing merc which he said had won an award I didnt see it but he did have an car sitting in the corner covered with material. His name is Ligi and if he still owns the place he may be worth calling. Hope this helps

Just another addition to the issues, on the way home again (I know its 43degrees here in melb again) im getting excessive idle speeds of over 1000rpm. I have to hold down the brakes harder than usual to keep the car still while waiting at the lights. When I let go of the brakes the car just keeps accelerating on its own with no throttle while climbing up the revs then it suddenly drops and takes effort to accelerate (very sluggish). Does this give anyone any clues as to what it is?

So once again today, I get strange gear changes in my auto while driving along, feels as though its not changing into the next gear as im accelerating. I get home and before I get to put it in park I notice the revs sitting at about 1000rpm. Then it suddenly decides to rund really rough and pop again and the ETC light comes on again. I know I should take it into get looked at but Im really having a bad run of luck with the people at the service department telling me they cant find or fix a problem. Has anyone had this happen before or have any suggestions? The car is totally stock. Maybe I should take it into a tuner and they may be able to tell me whats wrong when getting a tune done. Although Id like to know what it is before spending more money on something before fixing an existing problem. Thanks

Once again thanks for your advice smicky youre a great source of knowledge on this subject. Ill just make a trip and see whats out there with a better idea of what I can get rather than what Ill be "advised" to get.

Thankyou very much smicky. Sorry to be a pain about it. This is where I get confused. How do you get 2 different voltages? (12v and 14v) and how do you get the amp to work at 2 ohm instead of 4 ohm? Is it possible to wire the amp in other than a direct line of power from the battery? or is the 2 different voltage listed there for cars with a higher voltage power supply. Then theres the problem with how to wire the speakers to the amp to get 2 ohms? Lol sorry again

Yeah its an older amp, thanks for your reply and effort. I realise youve typed the same thing over and over again for people asking similar questions and I was hoping to avoid everyone repeating themselves, I was just after maybe a few options of speakers that suit this amp so I can go in and know which speakers to look at. Its the voltage ratings and ohm ratings that really confuse me. Im just after 4 speakers and a sub and hopefully use this amp if possible for a little better sound quality. Thanks again

Hello everyone, Ive got an amp from my last car which I pulled put before trading in. Its a kicker KX350.4. Ive been reading posts on how its important to match the speakers to the amp to get a better result. I want to use the hi level inputs that the amp has from the premo sound I have in the car to keep all the controls etc. Anyone have any suggestions for front speakers and sub using this amp or am I wasting my time? I dont want loud just better sound quality. Thanks in advance

well after a long 2 weel wait I finally got a mate to drop my car in today to get it looked at. Outcome I hear you ask? "im sorry but we couldnt find anything wrong even though the engine light is on, maybe drive it around a bit and bring it back when it happens again" Needless to say im not happy, almost considering just voiding the warranty and taking it to a mechanic to see if he can find the issue.

Id really love to help you out and give you some kind of advice, but Im getting a crap load of problems with my car after asking ford to check out why it etc came up and if my auto was normal to not change gear after its kicks down after a hard rev. I was told the ZF does this and only changes after applying more throttle but they flashed new software on it and since then the engine light has come on and it runs rough and smokes from the exhaust. Its been over a week and I havent driven it since ford customer service told me if I drove it and something else went wrong they wouldnt cover it. So its sitting in the backyard here for another week till someone can look at it. Sorry that I cant offer anything valuable

I currently have the same symptoms as you Trevs, engine light came on, rough idle and exhaust smell as well as exhaust smoke after someone at the dealership flashed software update onto the ECU. Keep us informed of what happens as it seems that youre gonna have your problem looked at before I do.

Merry Christmas all! Just a quick update. Called up Ford customer support and got nowhere. Infact, I was told driving my car in its current condition could void the warranty if something else goes wrong as a result regardless of the service manager's insistence that the car would be fine till it was fixed. I did in the meantime check the error code on the first report I got. It was P0171. After doing some reading I got the idea that if I checked the fuse of the HO2S while waiting it couldn't do any more harm. Anyone know where this could be?

well that's the funny thing. The first time the light came on they gave me an invoice with the report on it saying it was running lean on bank 1. When I got its back it was running fantastic, on boost earlier and much more power. Im guessing what you've said is correct 6L_ETA. Mine must have been running crap before. The second time the light came on it started smoking black from the exhaust which im assuming means its running too rich. The fuel consumption has shot up from an average of about 14.5/100km to over 18 at the moment. Still, theres nothing I can do now except wait till Monday to have a sook to customer service.

I wanted to speak to ford customer support, I tried calling them around 2pm on my lunch break but was on hold for about 20 minutes and had to get back to work. Ill have to try again on Monday. Im hoping its as simple as Buf-Phoon mentioned, being an O2 sensor but we'll see.

Kinda sick of going back to them, its been in 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I think will give ford care tomorrow and ask them what they suggest as I need the car and driving around with it the way it is may potentially cause further damage. Im not the type to throw tantrums as much as Ive tried in the past.

Had the car for around 5 months and it still has a few months new car warranty, havent touched it in anyway. I would take it back but the place I bought the car from says they are flat out till the 5th of jan.

Hi guys, been a while since Ive posted anything. Anyway, story goes I took my car in to get a road noise checked out under warranty and mentioned if they can tell me if the gearbox was shifting the way its supposed to ( drops a gear under acceleration and holds gear regardless of any speed until prompted by accelerator or brake). So they tell me they will check it out. Pick up the car and I'm told its all tyre noise and there was an older software running on the ECU which they have now updated. While driving into work the next morning I get a strange roughness in the idle. Think nothing of it. I get in after work to drive home and the engine light comes on. So I get my mate to drop off the car as Im kinda still new at my current job. They clear the error which came up as running lean on bank 1 whatever that means. So I get it back yesturday and it runs much quicker and powerful than Ive ever felt before. was very pleased. Back on the way to work this morning the rough idle comes back much worse than before engine light comes on and im getting smoke and exhaust fumes. They tell me they cant look at my car till the 5th of Jan now which pretty much means its going to be sitting in my yard all holidays. Anyone have any clues what this might be?

I've been thinking for quite some time about the unused area above the icc, possibly mounting a hinge on the side closest the windscreen so it pops open and having the sat nav unit stuck to the back of it. I should really get off my ass and have a proper look and see if it can be done

Thanks freak, I just noticed at the bottom of this topic there are similar issues which I've quickly browsed over and found out you can try and re-cal the tps. Ill give that a try and see what happens. Thanks for your input

no, it's only happened twice so far, normally I push hard for a few seconds then back off and I hear the blow off but it just goes back to normal revs

Hello Everyone, As always been on here for hours on end doing more reading then I did in school. So Its a fun way to pass the time. Anyway, Ive had my car for a little over a month now and I love the thing. Today while parked out the front of my house I started the car and it revved over 3,000 and started to pop from the exhaust while running really rough. Then I noticed ETC lit up on the dash. I did turn it off and on again and the problem was gone. I was wondering if this is connected to another similar problem I had a couple of weeks back where id given the car a short but hard squirt, it went hard and after coming off throttle it revved very hard as if it wouldnt change gear (happened twice now) but no popping or roughness. Anyone able to shed some light on this? Its a BF Turbo with the ZF totally stock (still under warranty) Thanks for any help
