  1. LOL yeah Atmo BOV on the XR is fine............as for jap cars , yeah you can get rid of the AFM. I have a couple of mates who have done this with their 180's and skyline. They all used after market computers including Power FC, EMS and Autronics........im not sure on the specifics as to how the computer gets this data, but all 3 have no AFM. Im not sure about the uni chip to be honest, your best bet would be to PM Peter (his nick is APS)..he should be able to tell you more about the unichip Might have to do some research into this!

Hey scrooge if you can try find yourself some older issues of zoom mag......they had a whole story before on the T and trying to boost it...all sorts of problems. Basically what chris has said is correct, it seems that even when they did trick one sensor, there was another sensor to check on that sensor if you know what I mean. If I recal correctly even a simple bleed valve didnt do much with the car.....good read if you can find those articles.
  3. yeah mate, dont forget one thing though, our cars use MAP sensors not Airflow meteres, which means this issue doesnt apply to us. My BOV in my car is open to full atmospheric and the car does not backfire. On your note though, one of my mates with an S15 has the same BOV as mine and he does have the back firing issue your refering to when the valve is adjusted. He can adjust is to a certain degree, but anything after that and he starts having problems.
  4. the theory behind it is that when the valve opens up, it releases the extra pressure instead of sending it back to the turbo, at which point it hits the turbine and goes out the filter........releasing the pressure means that theoretically your turbo is allowed to free spin untill the throttle opens up again, therefore reducing the amount of lag between the gear changes. How true this is I dont know, but from what ive been told the factory unit is a 5 dollar off the shelf bosch part which is also used in the audi a4.
  5. Good old forums, its only a matter of time before all threads go off topic LOL
  6. Yeah I got one of those two, but the std 6 psi the car is running isnt enough to give you a whistle, so I took it off :(
  7. Citric........I think ive seen your car around !!!! Cant remember where, just sounds familiar.........do you live around the area too ??? (Greenvalley, bonno, st johns park area)

Ive got the 17's, they are ok, nothing special though.....same as the 18's......im actually thinking about getting a set of Billet wheels, but ill see how I go
  9. Still playing with the settings but started with mininum spring and slowly working up to see the differences. Only had it on a couple of days now. I like the half vent setting, a damn fine reminder that you have a turbo. Hey I just read your signiture, your is phantom too I see Um, yeah mines been in a while already, its set on about half spring and full atmospheric.......makes kind of a rattle snake shound before releasing a nice loud CHHHHHHHHHH Must say though, the guys at GFB are awsome....I think it was brett I spoke too, I had a problem with the valve rattling against the hoses just above.....he pulled it off, grabbed and modified some hoses and stuck it back on again....AWSOME service
  10. Sorry my mistake. I hope I didnt insult you. HAHAHAHAHA no insult taken mate, I was actually thinking about buying a ute, but in the end, I figured a sedan would have better traction, so I stuck to the sedan. Otherwise, id love a ute, they look ABSOLUTELY AWSOME
  11. I don't think so as when I visited them, it seemed to be purely a factory without a shopfront. They don't sell over the counter, I had to visit them to get bits that were missing in my kit. MRT certainly would fit it for you as they are a rally workshop, and as I said in my earlier post, they predominantly work on the Rex but would have no trouble fitting the BOV to a T. Despite what you read above, it is an extremely easy thing to fit, about 20 minutes work with only two spanners and a pair of pliers... and swearing, and cussing, and questioning the marital status of parents of Ford engine bay designers! Seriously, it is simple, you don't cut hoses and despite my arguments about fat fingers and inability to adjust it once it is in. I did a fair bit of adjusting tonight to mine and once you have washed the oil off your hands, you can actually rotate the ring with only a little difficulty. I have adjusted mine down to the second lowest setting as it scares the hell out of my passengers when it goes off. Sounds like a bloody freight train going past. Matrix, seeing that you are in Sydney, drop me a PM if you like and we can arrange to fit one to yours if you care. I am located Syd nth shore. HAHAHAHA God666, dont forget the skin you leave on the valve after you drive the car and decide to adjust it..........bloody thing gets hot Bloody hell, your in syd too.....lol and I thought my BOV sound was unique.........I may have to sell my GFB and install a HKS Super Sequential What settings you using on yours, half spring and almost full atmospheric ??
  12. Zap to be honest, I dont see how its going to work either, ive actually got Unigroup in syd looking into it.....if it works ill post up as much info as possible on how it was done, and some pics too....if it doesnt work then im back to the standing next to my car while it idles Ill let you know how I go scotty, it should be in by sat arvo this week
  13. basically, I normally wouldnt put one in, but I was given an apexi turbo timer for my birthday last week........so I figure, if I got it for free, why not install it !! either way, if you guys are interested, ill let you know how it goes, otherwise, no worries..........
  14. They sure are. I live around that area. Do you? Yeah I live in the area too.........I saw you about 3 weeks ago...........overtook you in my phantom beast number plates WIPLSH Sorry but I cant remember since it was 3 weeks ago unless my wife was driving. I could have been in Japan. Anyway I will keep an eye out for you. Sounds like a nice ute with cool plates. :banghead: um, yeah, um, about that LOL its actually a sedan Next time I see your car ill beep and swerve and do all sorts of things till you stop LOL
  15. Do a search, there is plenty info on this topic. And no you dont need timers on the T thanks mate ill do a search...........ps, dont agree with your comment about not needing timers, I know they are oil and water cooled but they still get hot...........a couple months ago I took my car for a "HARD" cruise through the national park. When I got to stanwell and parked, my turbo was glowing. From what I have read, its not good to turn the car off whilst the turbo is still THAT hot. Anyhow, ill do bit of a search Peace out
  16. They sure are. I live around that area. Do you? Yeah I live in the area too.........I saw you about 3 weeks ago...........overtook you in my phantom beast number plates WIPLSH
  17. Hi guys, Just a quick question, have any of you installed a turbo timer on your T? If so, where did you mount it, was it difficult to install it, did you have to connect it to the ECU and how did smartlock react to having the car on when trying to lock? Im still contemplating putting on in but not sure how hard it would be! Im pretty sure it will have to go to a performance place though, the Timer I saw has A/F Ratio, O2 Sensor readings, Battery voltage etc. A bit too complex for me
  18. id say so, torque is the pulling power the car has....but either way, arnt power and torque proportional......ie, if power drops doesnt torque drop ??
  19. Hi XRSEX. just curious, are these your plates too ??? I think ive seen a ute with these plates around the St Johns park / edensor park area
  20. HAHAHAHAAHHA good one
  21. HAHAHAHAHA matt, that's the advantage of being 24 and NOT married....I dont need a boot LOL. Basher, I had a friend with a VS ute who did the samething you want to do, cut ports into the cabin. Problem with this is that you are weakening the chasis and if something where to happen, and insurance finds out, you may not be covered. PS nice box

More then likely it was Shootout mode and it was in 4th gear........my T was dyno'd in the same way and produced 202.5rwkw so your figures sound about right. PS SXR6T have you thought about which BOV to fit. Ive fitted a GFB Stealth FX in mine, fits straight on
  23. den_iel, from what I saw I would say no it wont fit directly, but if you use some sort of spacer you may be able to mount a 10" sub in the factory position. The other issue you would have is the carpet that covers the factory sub. You may not be able to clip the carpet back on if the sub is too much bigger then the original.
  24. finally, here is a pic of the sub from the side (further out view to put the box size into perspective)
  25. Here is a pic of the sub front on
