  1. Just installed a Greddy turbo timer but cant find a good place to mount the bloody thing.. Anyone got a similar size timer and any pics of where they mounted it.. Cheers Sasha. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is thread about where to mount Turbo timers, not a debate on if they are required. Any off topic post will be deleted. 72

I am in total agreeance with plazmaman on this subject. Having made my own hot and cold side pipework and a straight through system dump pipe back, I agree it is hard to stop overboost. I picked up 4 pound on each map.
  3. Oh yeah with a pod straight to the turbo and no BOV its like a 5 turkey gangbang under there. Especially at a bar boost
  4. Your clutch will last if you drive it sensibly. You can destroy a clutch with a stock engine quite easily if you abuse it. My ute is makes more power than I can get to the ground at times and I have not yet felt it slip. Driving technique will determine clutch life with a only a mild tune like you are looking at.
  5. This is turning into a personal opinion debate isnt it..lol. The original question was does anyone have any pics of how they blocked off the hose? Have you got any pics YPURV4 of your setup and blanking method?
  6. Yeah sorry man, it's been tuned by Bear but not since I changed the pipework. Its slightly overboosting but loving it, not pinging at all. Havn't had it down the strip yet but im hoping for a mid/low 13 second pass if I can hook it up. But I have no expectations at all really because the track isn't as sticky as others and the ute tends to walk up the road sideways when it comes on boost in second as they do. But mate id love to pull a flat 13.. If by some freak occurance it pulled a 12.9 I reckon id celebrate by destroying a set of tyres on the burnout pad victor bray style lol.
  7. There you go Mickaj Straight from someone that makes respectable power and doesn't have one fitted. YPURV4 is one of many not using a BOV. The number of cars out there that don't have them as oposed to the number of turbo failures that have actually been proven to be a caused by stalling the turbo is minimal. I would expect to see Heat fatigue, stressed , vibration cracking, lack of lubrication to bearing/bush, as more common failures before a snapped shaft from dosing.
  8. Get there thursday night leave there monday day so 3 days. Do you have a few other falcons there you usually cruise with? Be good to line up with a few at the street meet.
  9. This is all I used in the early days.
  10. Just use a 1" poly pipe blank from you local hardware store. If your car is stock and running low boost you shouldn't have any detremental effects by doing this especially with an auto. High boost applications, with a manual transmission on the other hand may cause damage to the turbo eg. broken shaft, if the engine is raced.
  11. Yeah done a few little things to it man. Made my own intake and hotside piping, runs a Bar boost okay. Tractions my greatest enemy as you can imagine being a ute. I heard your T's makin 300+ at the treads..should shower me with rubber being a sedan and all. Be good to catch up with you again anyway Mark. Just keep that nasty f***n skyline in the shed okay, id hate to see you smoke the length of the strip like its a drift track lol.
  12. Not this saturday brother, easter weekend next saturday. Just remember...Rubbings Racin'.. If I start wandering into your lane ..lol. I think I still owe ya one
  13. Whats the track like Bondy? Still slippery I imagine.. I got new orings on the rears and will be there for the street meet next saturday night.. Wanted to go to the Ford vs. Expensive Daewoo really bad but as you said it has been rained out once again.
  14. $199 from Autobarn 1 1/2 inch inlet spigot. At first had to have it wound fully to 'soft' to get it venting at all as the spring in it is pretty heavy duty. Still not much go, so cut 4 coils off the spring and set it at half way..doses once or twice then tries to blow the bonnet lining off!! Love it. Well mate this is how it is... With the stock crossover and piping the ute pinged slightly on a 10 pound tune. NOW with this intake setup, the boost has risen 3 pound, I am yet to hear it ping loaded in 3rd full noise, and when I pull up I can comfortably place my hand on the hotside piping.
  15. Just bought and fitted up a Drift BOV. Heres some pics, the machine quality and appearance of it are really good , as good as any Turbosmart item I have seen.
  16. Hey I just saw you are in Mt Isa.. should meet up and go for a boost cruise this weekend mate.
  17. Josh is spot on the money with his reply to his own question. Good on ya buddy.
  18. Mate I reckon the Siemens Dekkas are the goods, but from what I understand also, it depends which tuner you go to as some of them have base tunes and scaling numbers for use with a particular breed of injector. As for Fuel pumps and surge tanks, all the 300+ RWKW T's that come out of the Dyno Dynamics agent here keep their original pump with no upgrades to the fuel supply other than the injectors..
  19. And the SS Inductions kit looks like the biggest waste of money I have ever seen. It still feeds through the airbox and 3ft of pipework first , oh and through the interheater/crossover section.. Oh and if it provides the CLAIMED 18rwkw gain , then my mod must give a 36rwkw gain because it goes TWICE as hard lol...
  20. I agree mate , I think the stock crossover is a heat source to be reckoned with.. or pissed off all together..
  21. Well it works for me... I noticed the difference as soon as I drove it. A mate of mines a mechanic of nearly 20 years and he runs the same setup on his T. Like I said, it hasnt been back on the dyno since fitting the pipework but as soon as its done I will be sure to post the results. Cars making 260kw at the rears last tune, so we will see if power curve changes or intake temps rise Its due for the siemens injectors and a 300+ tune so it will be done soon enough.
  22. Nah I dont mess around taking off or blocking vac hoses, I have a blanking barb that goes on in place of the BOV.
  23. I have taken the BOV off all together the other day with this new piping and yeah, it doses up like Habibs kebab runner with a fully sic tabouli tune.....uleh
  24. Man theres a whole flock of pigeons in there now.. or a turkey? LOL. Maybe the turkeys living where my airbox used to be....
  25. Thanks for the heads up Chris , I made the best of what I had.. Yeah and even used part of the genuine intake just to achieve the bend required to clear the bonnet. I have seen a few Xr's with the pod filter there and yeah I suppose when at idle at the traffic lights it mat be warm. But once your moving theres airflow through there and I dont agree that it has increased intake temps at all. but I wont know for sure untill I get it back on the rollers. It does dose up heaps and sounds mean as. The seat of the pants tells me the power has increased over the stock intake every time I get behind the wheel so theres no doubt there. Definite increase..
