One of the top gear guys owns 1 so I don't think they can be too bad! Lots of people prefer the Boxster S over the Carrera. Me for 1... It is a better balanced car as it is mid mounted as opposed to rear mounted and will be quicker than a 911 carrera through a fairly tight circuit. It is lighter, takes advantage of it's huge brakes and has a higher entry corner speed than a 911. Bet you didn't know that! It is also a lot cheaper and the 987 model is not too far behind the 911 in terms of options and features... I will say this though. I think the Boxster is a young man's car....not for old blokes going bald. That is why they built the Cayman with the permanent roof. Older blokes should be in a 911 or cayman. And I don't care how much you spend on the T's handling.....spend a million if you like...it will never even get close handling wise.......you can't deny physics.....

No the 987 is the latest Boxster model. The 997 is the Carrera line.....

I have driven the Z4M, 350Z, Merc SLK 55, Boxster S with the 3.2L and Boxster S with the 3.4L. I was even in the process of ordering the 3.4L... A 3.4 Boxster 987 will be my next car. I love my T but it's not in the same league as a Porsche. 0-100Km and 1/4 mile times are only 1 point of a performance car. 1 other point is handling and the Porsche wins hands down. It also wins in the response department, looks department, build quality department, features department and the list goes on. You can't compare a $45,000 aussie sedan to a $100,000+ euro sports car. I can tell you around Sydney the Boxster S feels much quicker anyways...in the manual. (only option in my opinion on a proper sports car - I agree the auto is slow!) Some people are comparing modded T's to the stock Boxster S which is wrong. What if I get my 987 S eventually and twin tubo it like a few in Europe?? I think they do 0-100Km in 3.5 seconds flat! Would anybody in there T's like to take me on at the lights then???????? C'mon I'll even put my money where my mouth is....you can have all the power you like....but you still won't get anywhere near me! Please don't think I am mocking the T's. I LOVE them! In my opinion they are about the best value for money cars you can get. I also think this about the 987 S Boxster. (and mine optioned up on road came to $166,000!!!!!) A porsche Boxster S is far more exclusive. If I am taking a girl out for example I think I know which car she would prefer to be in..... I say lets compare apples to apples...Boxster S' to Merc SLK 55's (the second best from what I drove in my opinion) and T's to SS' (the T wins hands down in my opinion - that's why I have one - until I am in a better position to acquire that Boxster... There would be nothing better than saying you drive a Porsche! Go the Boxster S and the T......2 AWESOME cars !!!!!!

Well I thought I would try a few launch techniques on my sh*tty tyres and here is what I found... 2200rpm car went further sideways then forward 2000rpm too much wheelspin for a quick launch 1900rpm seems to be right on for me!!! bit of wheelspin but gets off the line and into boost relatively quickly....

Heya Jeff, I'll give you a call soon about that actuator..... Start sharpening the pencil mate... Took the car for a spin today and it is spinning the wheels in 1st and 2nd...feels mighty strong... Don't know what the hell went wrong the other night......

Hmmm that's another possibility.....it did feel slow down the track....it was a pretty warm night and I drove an hour there....

Damn now I'm excited and nervous about next wednesday.... it will probably rain again knowing my luck....

Getting the 0 - 60ft time to around 2 seconds flat or better.... Thanks for all the input guys....I'll head back next wednesday and try a few things out. On the street it does spin the wheel in 1st and sometimes 2nd too! It feels WAY WAY quicker than stock on the street... Maybe the wheels were spinning and I didn't notice????? I had TC off so maybe I didn't know???

Went to WSID tonight and only got 1 run in 'cus of the sh*tty rain. It was my very first run and by the time it looks as though I stuffed it up....it's a BA 4 speed I had the tyres at 20psi, held the brake with about 2000rpm and left the line ok, manually shifted at 5500rpm 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd... Here is what the card says..... ET 14.077 60' 2.328 MPH 101.83 Kph 163.88 Any ideas as to what I did wrong...what should my time be according to the 101.83 miles per hour??? Would appreciate someone who has knowledge in this area to let me know....many thanks in advance.......!!

You are so right Hanra..... Anyways I loaded the standard tune back in and she went like a dream...I'll just have to wait until Tuesday for some proper tunes...I think it was the cat was the main cause...

Hi guys, I gave the T a full service over the weekend and fitted a high-flow cat. I already have CAI + filter, typhoon cooler. Standard tune the car is fine...doesn't seem to have and probs at all... 8psi tune seems fine too...a few times the traction control light flashed as I was giving it some and for about a minute later the idle was quite jerky....only happened twice though. 10psi loaded tonight...pulled hard to about 3200rpm then the traction control light flashed several times and it sounded like air was coming out the rear of the exhaust. The idle went jerky straight away again for about a minute...after that I tried again and same thing so I called it a night and parked the car. Going for a tune on Tuesday so that should sort it out....any ideas what it would be????? Although the traction light was coming on I am pretty sure the wheels were not spinning...

Mine did exactly the same thing. I found one on Ebay for cheap and put it in myself. You have to buy the whole cable and feed it through from the cabin to the bonnet. It's a bit tricky, took me about 20 minutes....just make sure you don't lose the cable otherwise it's goodbye.....

Hi guys, Well the other night I took the front off the car to install an UBP, typhoon cooler and PWR's biggest heavy duty transmission cooler. Trouble was the transmission cooler wouldn't fit behind the typhoon intercooler....so I put the front back on and left the tranny cooler on the floor of the garage... Any suggestions where else I could put it and would you suggest running it serperately or together with the radiator??? How much would a shop charge to fit it 'cus getting to the bottom cooler pipe looked bloody complicated...... also the front bumber on the drivers side keeps coming off...I think the bracket holding it in might be broken.....darn!

Hi guys, Just interested to know people's thought on cat gutting. On a standard exhaust how much loder will it make it?? Someone said flames will shoot out the back of the car but I find this very hard to believe. My mate has a V8 Late model camira with no cat and he certainly doesn't have flames shooting out the back. It will relieve a lot of pressure on the valve springs correct?? It's something to consider for those on an extremely tight budget...... Anyone done it?? What is the sound like?? It still goes through 2 mufflers after the cat anyway which should keep it quiet...correct me if I'm wrong....

Hi guys, When getting a custom edit does it make any difference in price if you get 3 maps done vs 1 ??? What is the normal tuning fee for 1 map vs 3 maps in Sydney ?? Do mods make it more expensive to do the tune or is it the same as it would be if your vehicle was standard?? Thanks!!!
