hey guys.

today I was reading through a past "motor" magazine of mine and I was reading an article on the new bf xr6 turbo

in the article they said that 98% of new bf xr6 turbos were getting the 6 speed auto over a manual.

just wanting to know all of your thoughts on whether this is true as a 98% figure is exaggerated a fair bit.

cheers

Doesnt surprise me, the ZF 6spd gets great press.

In addition, if you look at how Ford released the BA, the 6spd manual came out with BAmkII.

From all polls and opinions of dealers 70% of BA XRs were auto anyway.

Sounds a touch high, but the ZF gearbox is great to drive with and because its a 6 speed tiptronic its the closest thing you can get to any manuel out there, so its converting alot of traditional manuel drivers to the auto. Also I think Ford has done a fantastic job at advertising it as the greatest box on the planet and this has increased its take up. In addition its a no cost option, clearly far superior to the 6sp maunuel and with that in mind more ppl are going to take the auto over the maunel in the new BF's.

Actually it's a $1250 option over the manual.

I drove both the auto and the manual, and while I agree that it is a damn good auto, it is still an auto. I think that the ZF is "clearly far superior" to many other autos, but in my opinion it is not better than the manual.

My 6sp auto was included in the deal as a no cost option. It is advertised on the Ford website as $1250 option and worth every cent!

Apologies

The best feature of the BA was the SSS, BF's numero uno is the ZF 6'er. Manuals are for those not interested in going fast
